As a Canadian, I believe many of my fellow Canadians feel perplexed and backstabbed by this situation. Even if the tariffs never materialize, significant damage has already been done to our trade relationship. Listening to the radio and local news this morning, discussions are focused on prioritizing buying Canadian over American goods, and emphasizing the need for Canada to expand trade with other nations and domestically to be less vulnerable to the whims of America.
For good reason. American can no longer be trusted as a reliable partner. It's a shame but it's a fact that Canada has no choice but to diversity supply lines, energy pipelines, etc. and ensure we are trading with the world far more and in a north-south integrated economy far less. No more chaining ourselves to an erratic, sinking ship. And I take no pleasure in this (I'm Canadian too) but clearly the Americans have lost their way. Let's hope it gets better.
Trump has proven time and time again that he is not to be trusted and can’t be depended on to keep his word or be consistent. He works off of chaos and division. No one wants to live under the threat of Damocles’ Sword waiting for it to fall at any moment. I’m a THREE TIME never Trump voter and I’ve been stressed out for a decade. Sorry we had enough voter suppression, and ignorant, desperate, racist people who would vote him back into office after all of this. He incited an attempted coup and is a convicted felon and s*x abuser with many other civil losses and criminal charges. And he’s wreaking havoc. Stay the course with the boycott. 🇨🇦💪🏻
@@steveboyd3455 Agreed, I have no ill will toward the average American. Some of my best friends are Americans, but threatening to cripple our industries or our national sovereignty through economic coercion backs us into a corner.
Agree with everything you say. I am American but have lived in the UK for 30+ years. The damage is done. This is a wake up call to diversify. America can never be trusted. The American people however love Canada and Canadians. I think Trump is still pissed about the photo of Melania kissing Trudeau. Trump is a psychopath. The anxiety and worry that you have suffered and still have to be on eggshells is worrying.
As a Canadian, one of the most surprising (and disappointing) things I've seen is how many Americans seem to support using maximum leverage against Canada. Canada is your biggest trading partner and closest ally and has been for generations. The fact that the US is 10x larger means it is a good idea to try to squeeze us for any possible concession? It's like a guy who pisses off their neighbor and ruins the relationship by moving their own fence over by one inch to squeeze an extra inch of yard. Everyone hates them, but yes, you technically got another inch of yard. Is that worth it? Is it worth it to ruin your relationship with Canada? Why? By the way, Canadians are pissed off, and we won't be forgetting this. Now we need to think of other ways to grow our country (even if they don't align with US interests). Doesn't seem smart even from a US perspective.
Oh I don't know that so many Americans are OK with tariffs on Canada...I found many maga types were not supportive of the move. But I am heartened by Canadians getting pissed off and perhaps being motivated to diversify their trading partners, as well as geopolitical allies. Very bad move on our part...Canada-'The true North strong and free...'
Canada is not like a neighbor at all. Recieving lots of subsidies from America and American protection, Canada is more like a little brother living at older brother's house because it's convenient.

Australian here with something for my Canadian friends to consider. My recommendation is that you put an *EXPORT TARIFF on CRUDE OIL.* I'm an engineer and all of the refineries in the northern states are build to refine HEAVY CRUDE like what Canada supplies. Those refineries cannot simply switch over and process the LIGHT sweet crude out of the Dakota shale deposits. So if you Canadian's slap something like an extra $10/barrel on each barrel of crude it will slap Americans in the place that will send them bonkers *the gas pump.*
I mean honestly, what's that say about you guys as an allie when you want to completly discredit an entire country over something that you know the entire country doesn't agree with. Not even half of the country does. What's that say about you as an ally if you're willing to just dump a longtime friend as soon as things get rough. You act like the people in the US are just living it up and not worried about what's to come. Everyone here is going to have to struggle through it as well. I think it's pretty pathetic as a friend to run away when they are in a time of need and understanding. I know that pretty much anyone who didn't vote for Trump, and even some people that did, would fight against all of these MAGA losers for Canada if something were to really happen.
Canadian here. You are right Scott. Canadians won’t forget. Remember we went through this before with Trump. It wasn’t tariffs that time but the chaos he created in his first term. We were terrified of what he might do to us and the world. Now it’s the tariffs. Now it’s threatening to annex us. You are so right we won’t forget this. In every industry in Canada leaders are looking to boycott US goods. An interior designer friend told me today that her industry was now, as a group, sourcing only Canadian made textiles, flooring etc. that’s huge. Now magnify that through all the other industries or professional groups we have.
What was so insulting is all this talk about becoming the 51st state....Canadians are Canadians. they dont want to be American. We like our social safety nets and our culture. That has always been the problem when we quit engagement with other countries. People need to understand that when we provide and have security cooperation with other nations, this allow us to be safer in the end. Creating isolation, makes no sense.
What's most shocking is the lack of concern/remorse from Trump voters. So many claimed they voted because of the high cost of living. Not only has Trump done nothing to address that, he is aggressively making the situation worse. Politics has morphed into sports- people view Trump as their "team" and not an elected official. Until half of this country is willing to hold this guy accountable, he will continue to have a free pass to tear the government and country apart.

Regarding your discussion a week ago about what "moderate" means, perhaps it means patriotic. Sometimes making the patriotic choice isn't great or instantly profitable for oneself individually or one's affinity group, but it is great for the country. Maybe this is where the Democrats need land and ringfence. "We" can't act as fairy godmothers granting wishes or Santa Claus delivering presents; yet, we can protect American values of hard work, level playing fields, and equal opportunity, as well as understanding the need to provide a safety net for when one falls from exogenous shocks they can get back on their feet. That traffic controllers life is ruined because of workplace probelms and that traffic controller was put in an unsafe workplace predicament. This is why workers need more power. Look at the oil fire and problems in gulf of America with oil companies rushing for the money over safety.
I would have loved if Jessica mentioned that Luka was due to get a $350 M contract for 5 years, to get Scott's POV about ridiculos salaries are for the few, perhaps the reason Dallas traded him. I find the salaries in the NBA getting more ridiculous.
Jess: There are lots of Americans that share your views of America, and are horrified, and believe these events are un-American. These Americans are in desperate need of a political leader to give voice to the opposition.
It gets to a point where Ulbricht is making so much money, and so much is being sold on Silk Road, that it captures the attention of people in China who were starting to make fentanyl at the time. Silk Road enabled them to mail fentanyl to the US. You start to see the beginning of the fentanyl epidemic, and the first people affected by it are kids.
Dear Prof G Team, some corrections, it is meningococcal disease that causes the loss of limbs not measles, that just kills 1:800 and causes immune suppression for a couple of months, both can be vaccianted against. Also, the wording from the official sides that we are on the verge of getting rid of malaria, TB or HIV is just wrong. But the world has done an amazing job to halt the spread, slow it down and reduce mortality and morbidity on these. As soon as we take the lids of these 3 pressure cookers, developing countries are going up in an explosion. Malaria alone would cause an unbelievable amount of cases and death, probably even so many cases in some areas that hospitals will run out of treatment.
I totally understand where you come from on foreign aid. But people in my state are not making headway and they see their tax dollars going out the door to these countries. You have to fix that mentality or things will never change. And I don't blame them for feeling that their money is giving away to other countries when we need it here. Because the system is so rigged against them.
You are making it very clear how much damage Trump is doing to every aspect of American life. How far does this go, how long can the public let this go before there is no hope of recovering.
If you watch the different ProfG media shows: - it's a little repetitive because you hear the same arguments from Scott on each of the different shows. - I only watch on TH-cam so it seems like I'm always like a few days behind. Maybe that is better if you subscribe on whatever the original source is.
You made a few important points which I agree with you, specifically about the potential power abuse and the way we do business. However I wish you talk more about budget deficits and how big of the issue it is. Our debt is 120% of GDP and growing. We have to pay 1 out of 5 trillion in just servicing that debt. If we won't get it fixed there will be no future for US. Period. US dollar and stability of our currency is the biggest ambassador. Until then, people could be pissed of about Trump but they still keep trusting US
Scott, I like your analysis of the motivations of the tariffs. assuming that the purpose is to achieve a result beneficial to US and all the citizens of the US is incorrect. they always say follow the money. it would be good to watch the value of the potus crypto currency. there must be some correlation between money going in and out of his crypto currency and his actions
Is it just me or are the audio levels too low? I listen to a ton of podcasts and rarely have to change my volume much, but whenever I listen to Raging Moderates I have to crank my volume up to MAX. Anyone else?
Are you sure? I listen to it at less than half the volume on my AirPods and it is reasonably loud already? It could be your headset or earphones or something.
They want Canada for the resources! The tech bros want to build the largest data center and be close to the resources needed. The screen is the 51st state argument.
I agree...as a Canadian I do know the resources we have and I am convinced that this game is about gaining control of those resources by annex or worse.
not really interested in an hour of Trump bashing anymore from people who obviously don't care to fix the fraud and waste by a volunteer that will not even get paid. I'm sure you won't be happy when we default on our debt. I love listening to Scott on business.
There is a lawsuit filed 2 years ago on behalf of 1,000 people who didn't get hired at the FAA because of DEI. Those hiring decisions were in 2012, 2013,2014. FAA could of used 1,000 more air traffic controllers, maybe it would have made up for missing air traffic controller in DC
They probably also could have used a director, who was forced out by the current admin on Jan 20th. New head, Chris Rocheleau, was hired on the same day as the crash in DC. Terrible situation for everyone involved, I think it might be a bit early to point fingers though eh?
Why do Trump supporting Americans feel good calling other Americans libtards? It's derogatory and nasty and completely unproductive in dealing with complicated and intractable issues of the day that cannot be bumper stickered with simple platitudes.
They don't understand how you can be patting yourself on the backs so much when your ideals that are being echoed across the world are just cloaked nihilism and virtue signaling.

2:45 Ice Cold 🥶 Palmer. Delivered 2-1 for Chelsea again yesterday
One thing for sure about Trump , he is a problem creator, not a problem solver.
Isn’t this how Russia is run ? I can imagine that pretty soon speaking out will land you in a harsh labor camp or worse.
4:02 😆
Just a quick correction, "Dearth" is in fact, not the good one. "Wealth" is the word you were looking for there 🙂
7:03 Bingo! My theory is that (eventually) even hardcore MAGAGA will catch up w/ that attitude.. and once that happens, *BOOM*
So glad I discovered you two! Happy Native American subscriber from the U.P. of Michigan here!
You are making it very clear how much damage Trump is doing to every aspect of American life. How far does this go, how long can the public let this go before there is no hope of recovering.
lol ok sweetie. You might not have noticed but more Americans than ever and cheering and rallying behind this.
Scott Galloway has alcoholic energy
If you watch the different ProfG media shows:
- it's a little repetitive because you hear the same arguments from Scott on each of the different shows.
- I only watch on TH-cam so it seems like I'm always like a few days behind. Maybe that is better if you subscribe on whatever the original source is.
Why is Bill Gates so quiet
Snowden is an American hero
You made a few important points which I agree with you, specifically about the potential power abuse and the way we do business. However I wish you talk more about budget deficits and how big of the issue it is. Our debt is 120% of GDP and growing. We have to pay 1 out of 5 trillion in just servicing that debt. If we won't get it fixed there will be no future for US. Period.
US dollar and stability of our currency is the biggest ambassador. Until then, people could be pissed of about Trump but they still keep trusting US
In Denmark we don't have many American goods, but I will make sure to avoid them. We also have reasons to be pissed off.
Any homes or apartments nearby that us normal Americans to move to.?
25th Amendment
Scott, I like your analysis of the motivations of the tariffs. assuming that the purpose is to achieve a result beneficial to US and all the citizens of the US is incorrect. they always say follow the money. it would be good to watch the value of the potus crypto currency. there must be some correlation between money going in and out of his crypto currency and his actions
✌💙
Is it just me or are the audio levels too low? I listen to a ton of podcasts and rarely have to change my volume much, but whenever I listen to Raging Moderates I have to crank my volume up to MAX. Anyone else?
Are you sure? I listen to it at less than half the volume on my AirPods and it is reasonably loud already? It could be your headset or earphones or something.
I came to the comments looking for this. I had my earphones on maximum
Quick update... For me the audio is very quiet on TH-cam Music. It's much better on TH-cam
DEI is about improving the makeup of organizations to better reflect the makeup of the country.
Close guess Scott, Luka is Slovenian , but he is half Serbian
They want Canada for the resources! The tech bros want to build the largest data center and be close to the resources needed. The screen is the 51st state argument.
I agree...as a Canadian I do know the resources we have and I am convinced that this game is about gaining control of those resources by annex or worse.
Yes, you’re the perfect woman 😂
Trump was a 🤡 in 2016 , a 🤡 again in 2025
Is that a picture of a dogs butt hole? If so I agree.
Cope
@arzdiamondbacks you got Trump meme coins didn't you? And gold shoes? And a Bible? 😂. Low IQ voters.
30:40 scott argues for the illegal alien market workforce as a beneficial thing, calling it the most profitable workforce
boarding school in 2025?!
not really interested in an hour of Trump bashing anymore from people who obviously don't care to fix the fraud and waste by a volunteer that will not even get paid.
It's the same reason non-Trump supporting Americans (i.e. Dems) felt good about calling Americans as deplorables, nazis, racists and fascists.
I agree--all of this name calling is divisive and unproductive.
They don't understand how you can be patting yourself on the backs so much when your ideals that are being echoed across the world are just cloaked nihilism and virtue signaling.
Scott hates basketball? 😑
