Keira was a teen sensation after pirates so he wanted someone not so popular to balance it! He should have been a little more aggressive in seeking more character based roles to show his full range

most UK actors study American accents in theatre school and there is so much US television broadcast there they pick it up easily. It doesn't seem American actors to the same though Rene Zellweger and Gwyneth Paltrow did master it.

It’s like he’s fighting his natural soft down to earth roots to play with the cutthroat soul-less elite so he can’t help that his reactions come out sideways. It’s so good.
That dichotomy about him is what threw me when I started watching. I was desperate for someone to root for but Tom started going from doormat with shiv to frat boy hazing bully with Greg.
He is so manly, funny and adorable man. He is so talent and his humility is exciting. I hope he keeps acting and choosing different roles because in all of them he shines. I really love him! Thanks to share this interview!!!

I wish he was asked how he mastered the American accent. I find it so amazing how he captures it so well. I had no idea he was British.

We are exposed to American accents all the time on tv and films, much easier for a Brit to do a American accent than the other way round.
