For anyone who doesn't understand why Homura acted the way she did, just know that it's all an act. She's just playing up the villain role. The familiars throw tomatoes at her to highlight how bad the acting is (makes sense since she's the nutcracker witch, and her familiars are described as ‘the theater troupe of the mortal world’ The "real" Homura comes out in the school hallway and, along with the final minute of the movie, reinforces that this is all so Madoka can have a happy life. Homura isn't acting just out of selfishness. She calls herself *"evil"* after her transformation because breaking the laws of the universe is fundamentally *"wrong"* . She calls herself a *"demon"* because she brought Madoka back to Earth, someone who was sacred as a *"god"* . Homura's cursed her own existence for Madoka's sake, and now she feels she needs to act as what she's become. She knows that it's temporary and that the other magical girls may soon become her enemies (as she herself stated twice in the end of the movie), but as she said in the final line of the film, *"I don't care. I will continue to wish for a world in which you can be happy."* Also notice how Homura does that weird thing with her hands? That's a callback to the movie opening "Luminous" where Madoka and Homura try to link hands in the beginning, but dissolve before it can happen. Now they can be together again. Well... not quite. i.redd.it/lw1tuuh0ylm01.png
Nah, what Homura did was out of her own obsession for Madoka. It was not for anyone else's sake but her own. Homura is a very tragic figure. She spent over ten years trying to save the girl (the creator confirmed that she went through over 90 cycles before finally reaching the events we see in the 12-ep series) only to lose her forever. She is badly traumatized by this. In fact, trauma and PTSD related nods are littered throughout the film. A reviewer covers this pretty well. liquidcitrus.dreamwidth.org/1080.html Homura is very much not well in the last act of the film. In order to save Madoka, Homura attempted to force her own transformation into a witch. In doing so, she basically sacrificed her own sanity And I believe that was effectively Homura's breaking point. Her pain and obsession have corrupted her feelings for Madoka, and this led to her transformation. Now, her feelings for Madoka are all she really has left. And she'll do anything to hold onto her. Even rewrite the universe, if she has to.
Kamui No Chikara You could say Kyuubey was a heavy trigger point in her insanity. He's the reason all this started after all. And even though he's not human and he would of never learned his lesson before. Homura gave him his rightful punishment. I strongly agree that our girl isn't acting but that it's definitely not her fault and she means no real harm. Like she said, she doesn't care anymore. As long as Madoka can have a happy life that she deserves.
NRobbi42 And you, I love how you approached her way of seeing things. But this doesn't disprove something is honestly wrong with Homura and that things might possibly get worse.
Oh, I'm well aware that Homura isn't mentally well. She even said so herself to Madoka in episode 11 before she went off to fight Walpurgisnacht. imgur.com/a/i7G2r What happened afterwards succeeded in bringing her in and out of the absolute depths of her despair. I also believe that yes, things are about to get much worse for her. I can't imagine suddenly rewriting the universe in such a destructive manner not having some kind of unforseen consequences, but that's a theory for later. I think Kyubey said it best himself: imgur.com/t4CA9sB
Kamui No Chikara That's not completely true. You can't completely hide behind you're insanity for things like what Homura did. It's like saying someone with schizophrenia killed someone and got to walk free as long as they didn't do it again. You can blame Homura completely, but you have to understand that she didn't intend for things to go as far as they did until it was to late. Like I said before, Homura is at a point where it's nearly impossible for her to turn back, because: It doesn't matter who she hurts. It doesn't matter who she sacrifices. It doesn't matter who she has to lie to. She doesn't even care much about herself. She doesn't care. As long as Madoka gets the life she deserves and gets her happy end.
I don't think people realise Homura hates herself for all this. I mean I thought it was obvious. She's essentially a goddess but instead refers to herself as a demon, evil and cruel. But she's doing it to herself, she BELIEVES she is the villain. And maybe she is. But she's making herself the demon because she thinks she deserves it. And in a way, she knows Madoka is going to win eventually, when she regains her memories. She sees Madoka through rose tinted glasses, as the good to her evil. Her Clara Dolls are also still around, and they're manifestations of her self hatred and suicidal thoughts. I mean Homulilly's whole thing was that she hated herself that she threw herself into endless torture, an endless parade, because she thinks death is too good but wants to die so badly. She's waiting for Madoka to kill her.
Where did you get the infos about what Clara dolls are manifestations of? I think in the wiki there are infos about all sorts of games and other materials. The problem is that in the anime you don’t really understand from the animation how the mages die because of the law of cycles, the gems are basically about to crack, but then madoka absorbs their pain but then we se the gems intact and then they randomly explode after that and that has no real explanation in the anime, and then in rebellion we se madoka get separated by the law of cycles but... how, how does homura become a demon, what the bloody hell just happened
@@jacopomalatesta4913 honestly I don't think Homura is actually a demon, she just calls herself that. or maybe because her soul gem was already on the brink of witching the Clara dolls were explained more in the artbook
i’m confused so wasn’t madoka gonna save homura why did she rip her apart then weren’t they gonna be together like the rest of the magical girls are i’m confused
Omg that's subtle cruelty right there. Mami likes tea, she breaks a teacup. Kyoko doesn't like wasting food, she threw the apple down the river, wasting it.
dinkymak Nah, honestly I think that doesn't extend to Madoka and Bebe. She's just pretty much doing those things to Mami and Kyoko out of spite. Then there's her knowing how much Sayaka wants to get rid of her, she rendered her unable to actually do anything, even telling her that Madoka would hate her if she lashes out too much.
Tamaki742 Not to mention when Mami bit the dust, her teacup fell and broke just like that, and Kyoko is described as an apple, so that image of the apple going downstream could be foreshadowing something
For those who are wondering why her Farmiliers, (the clara dolls) Are throwing tomatoes at her, its because on Wikia, it says whenever Homulily lies, her Farmiliers throw Tomatoes at her. Therefore, Homura was lying when she said Madoka would end up hating Sayaka.
Homura didn’t care if Sayaka, Mami, or Kyoko died, or become MGs. She only cared about Madoka and her only reason it dissuading Sayaka from being an MG was because she knew she’d be an inconvenience as one and not help defeat Walpurgasnagcht.
Homura actually saved the world. She changed a bit of the law of cycles by splitting Madoka from her Godhood to being normal again. She took away everyone's memories of being magical girls and even their deaths. They should thank Homura for everything she did for them. Giving them another chance in life they wanted to have again. Eventhough they dont remember. She has the ability to erase and add in memories to them. And sad as this is. After 12 years of endless time travel over 100 times by now, Homura wants to die because it was the final nail in her coffin. I know you will say "But she ruined EVERYTHING Madoka had done to keep the world safe!" Have you guys ever think why they are in a odd desert with weird objects in the sand? This indicates that there used to be a city. There used to be life there. It would indicate that Madoka tipped the balance. Lets be real. Since she got rid of all witches from past, present, and future. That means the evil scale is gone and that the good scale has massively increased to where only wraiths remain. And without witches the world is now deserted. And for Homura, she has been through rough stuff honestly. She was actually the good guy in rebellion. Making Madoka a bit foolish on her part. She thought her wish would benefit everyone. But it was to only save the magical girls. So thats a big oof. Credited to the theory with Anime Theory.
Can we just take a moment to admire the IRON-CLAD BALLS on Sayaka in this scene? Not only does she walk straight up to Homucifer, SHE THREATENS HER, AND EVEN SUMMONED OKTAVIA, as if to say "I don't care what you are, I'll take you on". It really speaks to Sayaka's character that she had the guts to do something like that.
Homura is helping them. She learnt that if a person truly "likes" an outcome, he/she must fight, not wish for it. Mami liking tea = symbol of her ignorance. Now she must question reality. Kyouko loving food = her petty selfishness. Now she must work with the other 4 to stand a chance. Sayaka liking Kyosuke = inability to stand up for herself. Now she must find a genuine meaning in why she fight. Madoka wants to be an great person, a savior that gives everyone what they want. But how can she be great savior when she can't even see the pain of her best friend, much less give Homura happiness?
Seeing Kyoko in a school uniform makes me so happy since she probably couldn't go to school due to tuition fees in the past universe. Also, Mami finally got what she wanted too, a family with bebe!
is she crying too because her friend with the green hair is with the guy she used to visit in the hospital in the original series of madoka magica? or he's not that guy I'm thinking?
Misaka Mikoto I couldn't agree more, I've seen this movie over and over again multiple multiple times and I still figure out more symbol meanings. This is my favorite movie of all time.
I didn't quite understand how Homura became so powerful at first, but thinking back, Madoka only eradicated the existence of witches, but that does not change the wishes of any of the magical girls. So, in the new world, Homura's wish would still be "to save Madoka." And I guess, when your wish is to essentially save god from herself (or more specifically "save the existence of the person 'Madoka Kaname' from within the Law of Cycles") you're bound to be more powerful to have that wish granted. And when Homura does manage to grant her wish (i.e. rip out Madoka Kaname from the Law of Cycles aka Godoka) normally she would simply turn into witch, but became something more powerful than a witch, the antithesis to god, she became the devil.
As well, remember that all those time loops accumulated Madoka's karma to the extent that she could become a god and did... ... Only who else ALSO was central to that wish? Who repeated that month nearly 100 times? Who saw her friends die many times? Killed so many witches? Used so much magic? Homura's got just as much karma as Madoka does, so she was the only one who could logically ever become the devil to god.
@@PredictedCyborg thank you. Lots of people still seem very confused on how Homura became a demon. But how did Homura overpower Madoka? Unless there's a couple timelines we don't see where Madoka DOESN'T end up being a magical girl
Luna Athena I think it's a combination of surprise and something to do with the wording of Madoka's own wish. Madoka didn't wish for any great power or strength, the deity-ness she gained was just the result of how the wish turned out. What she DID wish for was to stop the existence of all Witches before they were born "with her own hands". And Homura was there for that wish, heard it... and she grabs Madoka's hands BEFORE they can get to her Soul Gem. Madoka can't free herself because she doesn't have any great strength and since her hands can't GET to the Soul Gem everything starts breaking, because the darkness in Homura's Soul Gem can't be taken and therefore technically the despair should make a Witch which would subvert Madoka's wish. That wish should mean that Homulilly CANNOT be born outside of her Soul Gem, but Homura isn't letting Madoka stop it. So the entire damn world fractures. x.x
not really, they are still magical girls you can see that first here when sayaka try to attack homura with her witch state but then homura seal her powers and try to erase her memory, the same happen with madoka she has still one part of her powers but she dont remember nothing for homura who erased her memory (but still is a goddess like sayak, who is still a magical girls)
PeterVC agree but I think it's different with Sayaka cause she basically had a piece of Madoka. They explained that when they reveal how to save Homura from being a witch. that Sayaka is the same from the other one which is why she even remembers the law of cycle to begin with. It explains how she remembers
david garcia "Hey everybody! Look at me! I'm Homura Akemi! I have a goddess fetish! And I sound like Nanoha from Lyrical Nanoha! Screw the rules! I'm in love with Madoka Kaname"!
Good news is, once they’re done with Magia Record, they’ll be working on the main series again! :D Source: twitter.com/puellamaginews/status/1147315582682796032?s=21
Ash I said after Magia Record, that includes season 2. I think you’re talking about the anime, and the mobile game is way past that. They’re just finishing arc 1, in both ENG and JP servers arc 1 is completed, now the anime has to catch up. I highly doubt they’ll do arc 2, there would be too many characters. Once they’re fully done with arc 2 in the game, (both the JP and ENG servers) and finished with the anime, they’ll probably focus their attention on to the main story.
@@2008dsi_inblue Semi-good news, ENG doesn’t have to catch up with arc 2 because they shut down MagiReco NA :( So now we just have to wait for the JP servers to finish arc 2, which is already half way through (I think)
Honestly speaking, Homura saved Madoka from the horrible fate of being a lonely god who bears the suffering of all magical girls, reuniting her with her family. She is also preventing the incubators from trying to control Madoka and bring back witches. The law of cycles appears to be working since wraiths still exist and not witches. Sure, Madoka will probably regain her powers and memories one day, but at least Homura managed to lift that burden from her, even if it is temporary. Homura did the right thing in my opinion, based off of the limited choices she had. If she allowed Madoka to take her away, she would be allowing Madoka to continue living in lonely solitude, and the incubators would try to keep controlling her and experiment on other magical girls. Plus, Homura would most likely be sentenced to eternal slumber as that is what the rebellion production notes imply what it’s like being in the law of cycles. Madokas mom told her that sometimes you have to make a mistake for someone in order to save them from their own suffering. This is exactly what Homura is doing for Madoka. Were her methods questionable? Yes. Is her world permanent? Probably not. Does Homura have some serious mental issues? Yes. But she managed to save Madoka which was something she never was able to achieve no matter how hard she tried. As long as Madoka’s wish is still honored and the law of cycles still functions AND Madoka gets to live a normal life with her family, then I think Homura did the right thing. This post sums it up pretty nicely: imgur.com/gallery/ac8eO
Oh wow "madoka suffered" bullshit she never seem stress and she wasn't even a lonely god she still has her friends maybe other magical girls are in heaven and isn't alone and homura is selfish even stripping away madokami what is there even to agree with that-?? Madoka never asked for that and yet she gets punished for it and so what if she's a lonely god she will continue to serve and protect the universe from harm isn't that more important than just saying "oh madoka is so lonely aww" Im tired of u guys saying "oh but she did it for love she was trying to protect madoka" if she wants to protect madoka won't she just follow madoka to heaven if she wants to stay with madoka then go but noo she take the bitchy route I get she was trying to protect madoka by getting her normal life back madoka was content on being a goddess homura stripped madokami bec for what answer is "LoVe" more like obsession it felt so wrong madoka fought for the world and reduce magical girls so that they won't have to suffer in return she got spat on I get where she's coming from but she's selfish and only wants madoka to be happy and alive her mindset Is all about madoka does she even care about herself she doesn't even care if shes turning to a witch bec "oh madoka is unhappy" bullshit she doesn't care about her wellbeing she doesn't care if she is unhappy herself just so that madoka can be happy does she even take care of herself cuz to me it's always "madoka madoka madoka" and rewriting the reality just seems like saying "fuck u madoka I'll ruin everything u worked for and fought for" how is anyone even seem okay with this-?? And if anyone isn't a magical girl anymore than how did sayaka summon Octavia the law of cycle is still running and it's selfish now that she erased all of the magical girl except for madoka mami sayaka and kyoko were friends but no selfish homura erased it all stop defending homura bec of her "LoVe for madoka its just bullshit madoka essentially is ganna regain her power and memory sooner or later even if homura kept rewriting the universe madoka still can remember who she is and what her duty is I do hope that madoka will atleast teach homura that by stripping her powers she will get a punishment or be in a eternal slumber as in a way of defying the law of cycle
@@lilacespyPeople doesnt seem to understand that Homura did this all for her obsession for madoka instead of actually wanting a good end for her. Madoka did the thing she trully desired. The desire to help everyone and homura broke it all apart for sake of her obsession. The reason people dont understand this is because these idiots are too focused on trying to make it a cutesy love relationship when its a sickened and horrible one instead. Cant believe people see madokas memories being wiped off as a "good thing" homura did
@@kyarumomochi5146 Wrong, Madoka didn't truly desire sacrificing herself. She said it herself in Rebellion, she would never want to leave her friends and her family behind if it could be helped. She sacrificed herself because she had to. Madoka does not extend the kindness she extends to others to herself. I feel like people who view Homura's actions as ruining Madoka's selfless wish are glorifying self-sacrifice when it's a terrible thing actually.
Homura has passed the breaking point by the end of the film. She sacrificed her own sanity when she forced her transformation into a witch. Now, after being traumatized beyond repair after having spent over ten years trying to save Madoka (the creator confirmed that the number of times she repeated the roughly six-week cycle was "approaching 100" which means between 90-99 which is over ten years time) she then lost her and watched reality forget that she ever existed. Which was somehow even worse than watching her die (again). And now, after having finally gotten the chance to see her again, after having become emotionally destroyed, her feelings for Madoka have become an obsession. Mental illness has corrupted her feelings and triggered her transformation into something even worse than a witch. And now her feelings for Madoka are all she has left to run on, and she'll do *anything* to have her. Even rewrite the entire god damn universe. As someone who has struggled with trauma, I feel really bad for her. :(
Yeah, that explains a lot and It really pises me off when someone says they hate homura. I mean she went through hell to save her one and only best friend and then It all happens. Yeah she turned into a devil and it wasn't good but, like you said, she was traumatized and she did everything for madoka's sake. To me she isn't evil and she is my favourite character, even after the rebelion movie.
@@Crusader-Ramos45 sorry to ruin ur expectation but MagiReco is in a different (alternate) timeline (which still under Madokami influence) also probably contain spoilers for people who dont really watch or plays MagiReco... MagiReco universe is basically a universe where there`s no more witch coming from magical girl who their soul gem bcomes completely tainted (thanks to iroha and her sister and her sister`s friends) So understand this, Homura Akemi wish to save madoka is basically is to save madoka from turning into a witch But in magireco, theres nobody turning into witch anymore (just turn into some semi-witch form called Doppel which only lasts for a short time, before they turned back into regular meguka), and no this isnt the work of Homura Akemi witch (like in rebellion), in fact in this timeline Homura Akemi havent been so fked up enough to turns into coolmura (where she unbraid her hair, stop wearing glasses), shes still that timid hair braided glasses girl who hit witch with her golf club This is one of the timelines where Homura wish kinda granted since Madoka wont turn into a Witch (permanently) anymore, they even beat Walpurgisnacht (with a lil bit of Madokami help) So nothing that Homura has ruined (for this timeline) Also due to that Madokami cant really touch that universe since that universe is so fragile as in if she play her card wrong, everything would be ruined and it would be bad since Madokami kinda also treasure MagiReco timeline As that timeline is one of the timeline where Homura and Madoka (which she once was) can live happily together
I'll try to summarise this entire movie for those who are confused. Basically, the incubators have turned Homura's soul gem into some sort of a labyrinth only she is capable of controlling by inducing her into a coma like state. All the people she knows enter this labyrinth, and yes, this includes the real Madoka. The first half of this movie revolves around Homura realising something is wrong, since a) Madoka is there and b) they're fighting witches, which, if you watched the series, would know is not the way things ought to be. The second half of this movie revolves around her finding out what's causing all this, and an extremely vital scene involves the real Madoka and Homura meeting at a hill side. Madoka confesses that she'd be distraught if her life was not normal and she was torn away from the people around her, and Homura pays a lot of heed to this. A few scenes later and Kyubey admits that he did all this, in order to a) Confirm the existence of the Law of Cycles aka Madoka b) either control her or destroy her completely, which in turn would make it easier for them to turn things back the way they were by harnessing the energy of magical girls turned into witches. This horrifies Homura, who endured so much for Madoka only to have the latter turn into a goddess she never actually wanted to be, tear away from her loved ones, then be destroyed or controlled and forced to watch all her hard work turn into ashes, just because a bunch of incubators were greedy assholes. Homura Akemi turns into a witch. The others were informed about all this by Sayaka and Bebe, who retain their memories they had before Madoka turns into a goddess. They all proceed to fight this witch and destroy this labyrinth. Homura awakens due to the destruction of the labyrinth, and encounters goddess Madoka reaching out to her. Justification. Skip the bolded points if you want the story. *1. Homura had no clue that the incubators were even capable of doing such things, thus it wont be hard to realise that they had many tricks up their sleeves. If this fails, they'll do something else, something worse, and there would be more sacrifices.* 2. *They have confirmed the existence of Madoka and were bound to do away with her. They'd do anything they could, things she didn't even know of. It's not like she knew everything before she became a magical girl, why expect them to tell the truth now?* *3. Madoka admitted that she would hate having such a burden upon her on the hillside. The girl wanted to live a normal life, but had to endure the worst, just because she wanted to help people.* *4. Madoka's work would be ashes. The incubators would bring back the old way things were, there would be more suffering. More magical girls, more witches. There could be the end of the world, we saw what Madoka's witch was capable of doing.* She grabs Madoka's hands before the latter could touch her, and transformed into a demon. Theory time, skip this paragraph if you just want the story. *I dont know how exactly she did this, but my theory is that Madoka's love basically did. You know how Kyubey said in the series that Madoka was capable to becoming such a powerful witch mainly because Homura revered her so much she held her of high significance and Madoka became extremely important, thus making her witch so powerful. Maybe the fact that Madoka loved Homura to such an extent, including the fact that she was a god, made Homura significant as well. I mean, wouldn't you be grateful to the woman who endured so much for you? This is my own personal theory here.* Because of her new powers, she was capable of rewriting the entire universe and added in a new system. Instead of having the magical girls go through despair, she wiped away the incubators memories, and used them as a vessel to hold in all the despair. Madoka is back to her normal self, having no recollection of anything, and everyone remains the same. Only Homura knows what's happening. The end *Wait, so if the incubators are vessels now, can they die? We all know that Kyubey takes another incubator form when his first ones are killed, but does he have the conscious to do it now? He's nothing but a vessel, I doubt he can feel anything, or if he does, he's basically like witches, as they do carry around despair as well and I dont think they can be called conscious, ambitious creatures with emotion.*
if you read the Wraith arc manga you might figure out what actually happen in this movie. During epilogue of the anime you can see if Homura change her weapon from shield (to protect Madoka) to bow (to smite anyone who want to touch Madoka). In Wraith Arc also revealed if her power also changed from time manipulation to memory manipulation. In Rebellion she manipulate everyone's memory including herself and tell Kyubey about universe before Madoka being God. Kyubei latter doing experiment with Homura like you can se in movie. Sayaka and Nagisa in this movie is construct created by Madokami to assist her, that reason why they able turn or summon their Witch form. Akuma Homura only tore a piece of Madokami and made the piece her hostage, that why she just said if she is entity to defy the rule not one that become new rule. About Madokami, why she didn't took Homura as her assistant just like she did to Sayaka? Why she gave her ribbon to Homura? In Wraith arc that ribbon can trigger serious effect just by exist and As Law of Cycle she should know that. Why she didn't erase Homura's memory about her? Why in Wraith arc she didn't create an avatar of of herself while she actually can? There many theory that said if Madokami is one behind everything.
Murium Noor A'arif I think that what allowed Homura to pull Madoka out of divinity was her wish; Homura wished she could go back in time and be stronger than Madoka and to protect her and thus the two wishes clashed together, splitting Madoka from the Law of Cycles (maybe replacing her with Kyubei but I’m not sure) and making Homura more powerful than the Law of Cycles itself. I need the fourth movieeeeeee
Kyubey is the one fictional character I'm glad to see abused. I'd especially be satisfied if an incubator got mauled by a cat by the end of the fourth movie.
I guess the horrifying thing in this movie for me was how everyone continued to lived on as they always have been, hardly ever realizing the changes to the world they're in... Makes you wonder if there ever was something unusual that seeped into your world without your realization & you just take it as a part of your everyday lives
2:40 The water is Sayaka's side, and the purple wine is Homura's. There is a bridge on Sayaka's side that allows her to cross over to Homura's, so when Sayaka steps on to Homura's side, I guess that s symbolism?
"Magical girls aren't protectors. We fight for the sake of our wishes." Any reality in which Madoka isn't "safe" is one which is at odds with her wish.
@@SooyeonIdle What SHE wanted? You're forgetting it was Madoka who pleaded her to fix things so that they wouldn't be fooled by Kyubey anymore. Yes Homura wanted to save her lover desperately, but she had a promise to fullfill. Her love for Madoka transcends all, and she literally became the most lonely person in the universe to give Madoka and all the magical girls a happy, normal life again...Not to mention she maintains the law of cycles by replacing Madoka with the heartless incubators. I seriously cannot see how one could dislike her for this.
@@SooyeonIdle in the og timeline, Madoka literally *begged Homura* to stop Kyubey from fooling other magical girls because she was in such pain/despair from being beaten down by Walpurgis Night. Homura literally spent years tying to save her only friend, only to have everyone either ignore her, fall to despair or fail to stop walpurgis. She can't even stop Incubator, because there are so many of them
Homura definitely saved madoka from being enslaved by the incubators, and she brought all her friends back to human form, saving them from the cruelty of being a magical girl. She may be evil, but lawful evil. I feel like she's up to something that may actually be good. Also, she was corrupted by love, meaning she still feels compassion. I don't think she's going to hurt innocents. The target of her love is Madoka, she will do everything in her power to keep her safe and happy. Although if something happened to Madoka she may go crazy, and become a horrible force to be reckoned with. Homura is the antithesis to Madoka. Yin and Yang. I believe they will continue to exist together in balance and harmony. Also, she didn't choose this path on her own. The incubators tampered with her like this. And she sacrificed herself to become a witch to save Madoka. As a witch she was no longer her. All the converging timelines made Homura powerful like madoka just in a dark unpure way. It's natural she became Homucifer. She's using the darkness to create the perfect universe as she perceives. It's probably custom tailored for madoka's happiness.
Zᴇпsʜi I disagree. I felt like Homura should have respected Madoka's choice. Sure, Madoka misses her friends and family but she made her choice knowing all of this. She made her wish knowing what she was getting into and she was able to accept it. Homura did a selfish deed for a selfless love, but it's still selfish. Her love for Madoka works either way vice versa. She did what she wanted because that's what she wanted for Madoka "for her own good", not what Madoka wanted for herself. Homura did commit a wrong, lol. What she's doing is basically kidnapping.
2:25 Homura erasing Sayaka's memories is pretty cruel, yet you can also get a glimpse of Sayaka wearing her Magical Girl ring near the end of this video. I can't wait to see how things turn around in the sequel.
Carlos Rodriguezカルロス・ロドリゲス The new season is a side story, it’s loosely connected to the story of Madoka and takes place in an alternative universe. The only character from the main cast that plays an important role is Mami, the other characters show up but aren’t important (I’m mainly talking about the game, only Mami and Kyoko show up in the anime) They’ll continue Madoka after they finish Magia Record (this might include arc 2 of the game)
I personally think they did a good job with the dub for madoka magica. Cristina vee is one of my favorite voice actors and I feel she pulled homuras voice off great! I know others will disagree but she's honestly a good voice actor.
inuyashasmells Yeah, Cristina Vee voiced Marinette from Miraculous Ladybug. She also voices a ton of anime characters, like Killua (HunterxHunter), Nanoha (Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha), and Mio (K-ON)

Homura single-handedly taking in all despair and hatred from the world so Madoka will be happy. damn it I feel so bad for her 100 timelines. ONE HUNDRED FUCKING TIMELINES OF PURE ANGUISH AND SHE DIDN'T BREAK. idk about you but if I went through that hell I'd do what she did
nick linkzelda ya i knew she still was one i think she's a fallen angel cause she works with the god of magical girls she wants to go back she's pissed for what homura did
is that how it worked? i thought homu just put all the negativity into the QBs, the soul destruction still being protected in some form, i suppose someone could physically destroy the Soul gem though still.
Sayaka, earlier: Is the heart that wished for this really so sinful? Homura: *makes that wish come true* Sayaka: you're literally the devil. (This is just a joke, don't come for me.)
Ikr! lol But I believe Sayaka only said that to make Homura feel better when she discover she was the Witch. Sayaka knew the Witch was Homura and that she will probably found that out by herself. So I guess Sayaka was just bluffing when supporting the Labyrinth in their first confrontation.
Since the labyrinth was originally just a tiny egg that only made homura sad; she saw it as fine. Now homura literally controls reality itself like a labyrinth.
During the scene in Rebellion where Sayaka confronts Homura after her fight with Mami, I had always assumed that she just meant she was the same Sayaka from the episode 1~ timeline, but I got to thinking that maybe it was possible that Sayaka (and likely Nagisa) have gained the memories of all their past selves from Homura's other timelines after being chosen by the law of cycles. Unlike Madokami however, Sayaka only has access to the memories of Homura's timelimes and not (as stated in episode 12) "all universes that could have been, had been, and will be" The reason I think this is even possible is because Madoka's god power, and by extension the law of cycles, only exist because of Homura's wish with all of her subsequent timelines tying back to Madoka's karmic destiny/latent potential. This much was confirmed in the Wraith Arc (Notice how it says to complete its role) During the movie, and especially during the scene in the labyrinth, there were a few things that caught my eye and lead me to come to this conclusion. 1) Homura asks "you remember everything?" to which Sayaka replies "because that's my role". This line implies that Madoka granted her the ability to "remember everything" and that it's her job to do so. This is supported once again during the Homulily fight when Sayaka says "Homura fought hard to keep the world safe." The only way she could have known that is if she had knowledge of her other timelimes. Edit: I just realized something that probably confirms this. In episode 12 Madoka saved all magical girls in the past, present, future, and all alternate timelines. This would mean that Modaka saved multiple Sayakas since she became Oktavia on more than one occasion. It only makes sense that the one Sayaka we see in Rebellion is the convergence of all of her past selves (much like how Godoka is the convergence of her past selves bound by karmic destiny), otherwise we'd have multiple Sayakas running around. 2) The way Sayaka ended her chat by not only beating Homura's time stopping ability, but seemingly teleporting away with the image of Oktavia on her cape. This leads one to believe that whatever Sayaka is in Rebellion is someone who not only transcends both magical girls and witches, but has control over both forms. Keep in mind what Kyubey asked Sayaka during the fight. He said "what are you?" Not "who are you?" To which Sayaka replied "we are guided by the law of cycles to break free from the chains of Destiny binding this world." 3) Homura claiming "you were never this agile before". This line implies that throughout every single timeline Homura had been in up to that scene, at no point was Sayaka as skilled as she was in that moment. The only explanation for this is that Sayaka, much like Homura in a way, accumulated combat experience from previous timelines along with her memories. Not only that, but her composure in the movie was completely different from the aggressive and often naive Sayaka we've seen in the previous timelines. Something else I remembered is that the very first scene of the series is Madoka dreaming of what happened in a previous timeline the same morning she eventually meets Homura for the "first" time. I've always assumed that her karmic destiny (which at this point is capable of turning her into a god) being tied to Homura somehow played a major role in this and wasn't just there for dramatic effect, but there's still no way to be 100% sure of that.
There are in fact some visual cues to Evangelion! At 1:50 you get the same Rorschach Test visuals Rei gets during the EP 25, when she realizes she's not human. A lot of the visual experimentation of Evangelion has surely influenced these series.
So fun thing I noticed when watching this movie. Sayaka is the Archangel Michael. Michael is the right hand of god, wields a sword, and battles Lucifer. Sayaka is Madoka's "Private Secretary", wields swords, and confronts Homura at the end here.
I for one accept our new lord and savior Homura, the original universe was a broken mess anyway, Madoka fixed it but that still left her out of the loop. Homura did the right thing, no one should be sacrificed for the sake of the many, a world like that isn't worth saving anyway.
For everyone blaming homura, Kyubei literally lied and manipulated everyone to get power for their planet.. like thats the whole plot people keep forgetting. In a timeline where madoka defeats walpurgis, kyubei just fucking leaves the earth for madokawitch to desimate since they got tons of energy from her, enough for a lifetime(only homura knows this and the audience). Also in the 2nd repeat, where mami killed everyone except madoka and homura, when they are dying madoka gave (kyoko) grief seed to homura pleading with her to repeat time to stop her from making a wish before asking her to kill her to prevent madoka from.becoming a witch
Homura was my favorite character but this gave her a dark turn and made her dark, obsessive, and crazy some comments are putting me at ease to think this is just an act.
People hating on the English dub, SNAP OUTTA IT! Christina Vee (Homura's voice actor) Did the perfect voice, and really described Homura in a way that made me feel like Homura was evil. She really perfected the dark majesty of Homura Akemi.
This movie proved that just because you can have an ending where everyone lives an ideal life, that doesn't mean it's what's good for everyone. The way the scene is set up as eerie and otherworldly rather than happy and heartwarming is a great example of that.
Honestly, my take on the duality of the anime and Rebellion is that, personally, the original taught a pretty good message about life despite how grimdark it was. Despite Madoka having to disappear forever, she managed to not just prove the existence of hope, but create her OWN hope. Even if she never fixed the incubator situation, there was still hope in the end, in my opinion. In fact, realistically Madoka would still get a good end- there was hope for her. Not only would the other magical girls never become witches, but she would never turn into a witch either. I also feel Kyoko is proof that Magical Girls don't necessary have to become witches, at the very least, if they grow and move on. Remember, Kyubey's exploiting 14-year-old girls who know not how to love themselves, nor do they know much about life as it is. As for Rebellion, my problem with it is not Homura's decision- rather, it's just how it refused to resolve itself. I thought Homura's decision was a good way to show not only the corrupting power of love, but also give insight into the horrors of what depression can be like. As for the decision, I don't think it was fully selfless or selfish, nor entirely right or wrong. In the witch scene, she's shown letting herself succumb to her fate of witchdom FOR Madoka's sake (and I know it's for Madoka's sake, as she specifically states that she'll do it even on the premise of never seeing Madoka again, so long as the incubators can't control her.) When it comes to becoming a demon, she wasn't in the right mind- She let Madoka make her decision before, but at the end of the anime she's shown to be pretty unhappy. Talking to amnesiac Madoka, I believe, just amplified this and confirmed her fears, and of course she wasn't going to be critically thinking about it because, let's face it, she's hecking depressed. She went through the worst of her hells when she became Homulilly too. When Madoka saved her, it pretty much undid WHY she became Homulilly in the first place, so she really only had one option left- Of course, take the universe into her own hands. Though, she also wanted to be with Madoka at the same time (hence why she made the false world with her in that position) and of course, she despised Kyubey for his actions (hence, putting him in Madoka's place), and finally, due to the talk earlier, believed Madoka was unhappy. Going off of things like production notes, it could also be assumed she was a bit jealous of Madoka (going off the Clara dolls, I mean. Specifically how jealousy is quoted with "Let's make a box. I want to trap that radiance forever.") And, finally, it would be an endless battle- Kyubey had that piece of her shield, so no matter what Madoka did, he could remember it, even across timeline resets. If the condition were merely that Homura would be with Madoka forever, there's no doubt she would've gone to magical girl heaven. Anyways, when she decided to tear Madoka from the heavens, she was far from being in the right state of mind. She had both good AND twisted intention, and part of her reasoning for her decision was missing ground, and she inevitably realized the instability of her new universe. Poor girl. Z Of course, that's just my take on it. "Homura didn't do nothing wrong, but she didn't do EVERYTHING wrong."
Iskandar, the King of Conquerors she found it again somewhere around the 28th, misplaced it during the 37th, took some time off to open a bar in sub space between the 66th and 67th timelines, spent the 72nd timeline doing nothing but using time stop to fuck with people, actually won in the 88th timeline but did the whole thing blackout drunk so she can’t remember how she did it, and ended up with her waifu apotheosizing on the 100th
Looking at this, I just realized how pale Homura’s skin looks. I noticed it around 2:01 (compare her skin tone with Sayaka’s), but I don’t recall her looking that pale.
At a few points the clara dolls show up here, and I feel like the specific clara dolls are important. At 0:53, you can see Manuke and Nekura. At 1:07 you can see Ibari and Usotsuki. And just before the scene cuts you can see Manuke. The clara dolls that commit suicide at 1:54 are Ibari, Okubyou, Mie, Manuke, Warukuchi, and Yakimochi in that order. The ones at 3:16 are Wagumama, Ganko, and Manuke. The ones at 3:20 are Namake, Noroma, Reiketsu, Yakimochi, and Nekura.
Sayaka says Homura had no right? That power was essentially built up with Homura's pain and suffering. It's more or less the crystallization of Homura'ss agony alone. I think she should get a say in this.
She pulled Madoka out of the law of cycles and left it as a non-Sentient force rather than a Sentient God. She sealed the both of them into one single timeline which would then go on to have no wraiths and no witches and no nightmares and no nothing of that sort. I suppose in the end this is not a terrible ending it just means that Madoka can no longer deal with witches personally across all timelines now the whole system will just be automated so there won't be any more nuance to it. I guess I can see why that might cause problems because it makes the system even easier to fuck around with when there's not an intelligence behind it
I mean, is it really that fucked up? Kyubey wont be able to screw with anyone else, Madoka and the others will be able to lead relatively happy normal lives, and generally everyone is happier than they were in the previous world. Madoka's Law of Cycles did not address the elephant in the room, which was Kyubey making magical girls in the first place.
Homura can now alter anything and ANYONE with ease and no one can stop her. She took Madoka resulting in the Law of Cycles being broken, and now no one is able to escape this universe for this world is now an endless labyrinth.
If Sayaka and Nagisa are fundamentally the same and were both brought back together, wouldn't they both still have their memories in this scene? If you consider that perhaps Nagisa acknowledges what happened and accepts it (she only wanted to eat cheese after all), then this scene with her splashing around in the purple liquid takes on a whole new meaning. The way in which this scene is shot with the water stream splitting the middle is pretty telling as well.
Since there's the 4th movie that is coming, it means that the new universe can't be perfect - even if Kyubey is bearing the curses himself. Still, that world must have a flaw somewhere. Reality has been rewritten twice. If the upcoming movie is the finale of the original series, I think a third rewriting will be done by both Madoka and Homura. What would it be ? Perhaps the destruction of the whole magical system, which would lead to an equivalent of our world...
If that happens, the entropy destroys our universe. If even Madoka could not erase that event from existance, that means Magic Girls must keep existing until the end of times.
I know she meant to help Homura... but there's a reason why Homura didn't want to be saved. Granted, the new world is an opportunity for the girls to actually solve their problems. But I know what she did was still possessive. And the reason she followed that route was because she received validation from Sayaka and heard Madoka's true feelings.
I don't hear any fatigue. Especially compared to her original voice in the main anime, that was always bland and toneless. I really think she sounds contempt, and...I don't know, alluring, I don't find any other adjective, in English.
blara2401 The way I interpret it, Homura is simply putting on an act. She is doing all this out of her love and passion for Madoka, and knows what she is doing is wrong and "evil", and plays into the part antagonizing herself, messing with the other Magical Girls and especially toying with Sayaka under a facade of confidence. This facade is shown to fall apart later when Madoka regains her memory, and Homura loses her composure and subdues Madoka immediately, afterwards giving Madoka back the ribbons Madoka had given her as a parting gift, tearing up as she tells her they "always looked better on her", and even knowingly stating she'd be Madoka's enemy one day. In the final scene, Homura kills the Incubator with ease and dances with her Soul Gem, smiling sadly at it before she falls off the cliff. She is mentally broken after all her experiences, but determined to see her mission through no matter what she has to do, fighting alone now against everyone to protect her loved one. In the original scene, Homura would silently hum the theme of the movie as she danced, affirming her fragile mental state and tragic determination that depressed even her voice actor (or writer, something to that effect) for days. Homura is no longer tired, emotionless and aloof from her neverending battle in the series. She has become more determined than ever to protect Madoka after the events of Rebellion, against the Incubators, against the other Magical Girls, against even Madoka for her own good by concocting this convoluted scheme where she can control everything by becoming a Demon, by playing the part of the evil entity and knowing at the same time her selfishness and wrongfulness in her actions.
The facade theory does work, yes. It's a wholly different turn on the character compared to the original voice, that simply made her look...less...sympathetic, I would say. If you assume the confident side is an act, then it actually goes to show that she regrets her choice. Not in the original dub ; there, she just doesn't care, she acted on her impulse and she seems happy about it. Only when she's confronted with Madoka does she realize she may have hurt her and that it will harm her as well to fight her later on. All in all, both really do work...
Pause at 4:10 and u can see a ring on saykas hand It could mean two things, one sayka is STILL a magical girl and she can still transform somehow Or two The ring is still there but the magic is gone from it casing sayka to not transform But... this could mean that she won’t forget them.
something that sometimes gets overlooked in regards to homura not being evil is that she easily could have just saved madoka and left everyone else to rot, but ahe didn't. she gave mami and kyoko the necessary support to deal with their issues and went out of her way to keep nagisa and sayaka alive (with them being said support). and on sayaka'a side, when it fully sets in that she is alive again and gets to be with the people she cares about, she's happy, if conflicted.
I wish madoka could've bombed the universe i don't really care about the people in the universe and all the magical girls gets bombed too bec you guys are so defending homura that it's ridiculous therefore no human can ever exist or all people are dead including the magical girls
I love how all the monster from Homura's witch labyrinth become actually drawn in and look natural. And all other witches are still in their different style. The symbolism in this whole show... Is just awesome! Can't wait to see the next movie. I wonder if the green girl will be the saving force (she becomes a magical girl our of nowhere, confusing Homura and helping out)
For anyone who doesn't understand why Homura acted the way she did, just know that it's all an act. She's just playing up the villain role. The familiars throw tomatoes at her to highlight how bad the acting is (makes sense since she's the nutcracker witch, and her familiars are described as ‘the theater troupe of the mortal world’
The "real" Homura comes out in the school hallway and, along with the final minute of the movie, reinforces that this is all so Madoka can have a happy life.
I will continue to wish for a world in which you can be happy."*
Also notice how Homura does that weird thing with her hands?
A reviewer covers this pretty well.
liquidcitrus.dreamwidth.org/1080.html
Homura is very much not well in the last act of the film. In order to save Madoka, Homura attempted to force her own transformation into a witch. In doing so, she basically sacrificed her own sanity
And I believe that was effectively Homura's breaking point. Her pain and obsession have corrupted her feelings for Madoka, and this led to her transformation.
Now, her feelings for Madoka are all she really has left. And she'll do anything to hold onto her. Even rewrite the universe, if she has to.
Kamui No Chikara
You could say Kyuubey was a heavy trigger point in her insanity.
NRobbi42
And you, I love how you approached her way of seeing things. But this doesn't disprove something is honestly wrong with Homura and that things might possibly get worse.
Oh, I'm well aware that Homura isn't mentally well. She even said so herself to Madoka in episode 11 before she went off to fight Walpurgisnacht. imgur.com/a/i7G2r
What happened afterwards succeeded in bringing her in and out of the absolute depths of her despair. I also believe that yes, things are about to get much worse for her. I can't imagine suddenly rewriting the universe in such a destructive manner not having some kind of unforseen consequences, but that's a theory for later.
I think Kyubey said it best himself: imgur.com/t4CA9sB
Kamui No Chikara
That's not completely true. You can't completely hide behind you're insanity for things like what Homura did. It's like saying someone with schizophrenia killed someone and got to walk free as long as they didn't do it again. You can blame Homura completely, but you have to understand that she didn't intend for things to go as far as they did until it was to late. Like I said before, Homura is at a point where it's nearly impossible for her to turn back, because:
It doesn't matter who she hurts.
But can we talk about how many extras were wasted
Kyubey
hi piece of shit
Where did you get the infos about what Clara dolls are manifestations of? I think in the wiki there are infos about all sorts of games and other materials. The problem is that in the anime you don’t really understand from the animation how the mages die because of the law of cycles, the gems are basically about to crack, but then madoka absorbs their pain but then we se the gems intact and then they randomly explode after that and that has no real explanation in the anime, and then in rebellion we se madoka get separated by the law of cycles but... how, how does homura become a demon, what the bloody hell just happened
@@jacopomalatesta4913 honestly I don't think Homura is actually a demon, she just calls herself that. or maybe because her soul gem was already on the brink of witching
the Clara dolls were explained more in the artbook
i’m confused so wasn’t madoka gonna save homura why did she rip her apart then weren’t they gonna be together like the rest of the magical girls are i’m confused
Omg that's subtle cruelty right there. Mami likes tea, she breaks a teacup. Kyoko doesn't like wasting food, she threw the apple down the river, wasting it.
So Bebe starting to like humans than cheese, sayaka able to deny her feelings, and madoka,in loss of hope?
All part of the symbolism?
dinkymak Nah, honestly I think that doesn't extend to Madoka and Bebe. She's just pretty much doing those things to Mami and Kyoko out of spite. Then there's her knowing how much Sayaka wants to get rid of her, she rendered her unable to actually do anything, even telling her that Madoka would hate her if she lashes out too much.
Kamui No Chikara wut?? Homura dislikes wut?

A piece of paper cant stop me from being myself
For those who are wondering why her Farmiliers, (the clara dolls) Are throwing tomatoes at her, its because on Wikia, it says whenever Homulily lies, her Farmiliers throw Tomatoes at her. Therefore, Homura was lying when she said Madoka would end up hating Sayaka.
Where does it state this? I checked the wiki and I can't find anything that mentions this.
No Name I dunno man she kinda scares me when unhinged. It wouldn’t surprise me if she would sacrifice all of mitakihara for homura
Thank you for the enlightenment.
Chara Dreemurr if anything Madoka would hate homura
@@SuperJennieleigh me neither
Homura should’ve said “Don’t you realize I’ve been trying to save your asses for over 12 years, and this is the thanks I get?”
Homura didn’t care if Sayaka, Mami, or Kyoko died, or become MGs. She only cared about Madoka and her only reason it dissuading Sayaka from being an MG was because she knew she’d be an inconvenience as one and not help defeat Walpurgasnagcht.
I don’t think Homura even try to save Sayaka, she only try make Sayaka realize they gonna be tricked by kyubey
@@camerono.3183 Still. She ended up making everyone happy in the end. And no one thanked her for it.
She tried to save them at first, but as she was broken by more and more timelines where they ended up dying anyway, she kinda just gave up on them.
Biting off way more than she can chew... Somethings never change.
Homucifer defeated her with a clap..
Carlo Valenzuela Guess you can say she got clapped
Kamui No Chikara She got her afterlife taken away. Can't expect her to be rational
I think Sayaka is the only threat to Homura at this point and you know what threat means it is nothing only.
Mami: likes tea
Homura: breaks teacup
Kyouko: hates wasting food
Homura: makes Kyouko throw away food
Sayaka: likes Kyousuke
Homera: has Kyousuke and Hitomi paired from the start

Damn... That's crazy, i never even thought of all that!

Devil Homura
Homurakuma
So the entire damn world fractures. x.x
she rewrote the universe so they could be happy and not be magical girls yet shes fucking with their minds lmao!!!!
david garcia "stfu and be happy"-homura
not really, they are still magical girls you can see that first here when sayaka try to attack homura with her witch state but then homura seal her powers and try to erase her memory, the same happen with madoka she has still one part of her powers but she dont remember nothing for homura who erased her memory (but still is a goddess like sayak, who is still a magical girls)
PeterVC agree but I think it's different with Sayaka cause she basically had a piece of Madoka. They explained that when they reveal how to save Homura from being a witch. that Sayaka is the same from the other one which is why she even remembers the law of cycle to begin with. It explains how she remembers

I highly doubt they’ll do arc 2, there would be too many characters.
Once they’re fully done with arc 2 in the game, (both the JP and ENG servers) and finished with the anime, they’ll probably focus their attention on to the main story.

This post sums it up pretty nicely:

Exactly!
Yeah. I feel bad, too.
I was hoping Magia Record would have an arc where Madoka and the new girls help Homura and fix what she ruined.
@@Crusader-Ramos45 sorry to ruin ur expectation but MagiReco is in a different (alternate) timeline (which still under Madokami influence)
also probably contain spoilers for people who dont really watch or plays MagiReco...
MagiReco universe is basically a universe where there`s no more witch coming from magical girl who their soul gem bcomes completely tainted (thanks to iroha and her sister and her sister`s friends)
So understand this, Homura Akemi wish to save madoka is basically is to save madoka from turning into a
witch
But in magireco, theres nobody turning into witch anymore (just turn into some semi-witch form called Doppel which only lasts for a short time, before they turned back into regular meguka), and no this isnt the work of Homura Akemi witch (like in rebellion), in fact in this timeline Homura Akemi havent been so fked up enough to turns into coolmura (where she unbraid her hair, stop wearing glasses), shes still that timid hair braided glasses girl who hit witch with her golf club
This is one of the timelines where Homura wish kinda granted since Madoka wont turn into a Witch (permanently) anymore, they even beat Walpurgisnacht (with a lil bit of Madokami help)
So nothing that Homura has ruined (for this timeline)
Also due to that Madokami cant really touch that universe since that universe is so fragile as in if she play her card wrong, everything would be ruined and it would be bad since Madokami kinda also treasure MagiReco timeline
As that timeline is one of the timeline where Homura and Madoka (which she once was) can live happily together

darkbeetlebot I agree
If this fails, they'll do something else, something worse, and there would be more sacrifices.*
2. *They have confirmed the existence of Madoka and were bound to do away with her. They'd do anything they could, things she didn't even know of. It's not like she knew everything before she became a magical girl, why expect them to tell the truth now?*
*3. Madoka admitted that she would hate having such a burden upon her on the hillside. The girl wanted to live a normal life, but had to endure the worst, just because she wanted to help people.*
*4. Madoka's work would be ashes. The incubators would bring back the old way things were, there would be more suffering. More magical girls, more witches. There could be the end of the world, we saw what Madoka's witch was capable of doing.*
She grabs Madoka's hands before the latter could touch her, and transformed into a demon.
This is my own personal theory here.*
Because of her new powers, she was capable of rewriting the entire universe and added in a new system. Instead of having the magical girls go through despair, she wiped away the incubators memories, and used them as a vessel to hold in all the despair. Madoka is back to her normal self, having no recollection of anything, and everyone remains the same. Only Homura knows what's happening.
The end
*Wait, so if the incubators are vessels now, can they die?

After all the bullshit Homuras been through...

*I don't blame her for doing what she did.*
Zᴇпsʜi She's the most realistic character in the franchise, honestly I'm surprised Homura didn't crack earlier.
Given the circumstances in the movie too, I don't blame her either
People who antagonize Homura *CLEARLY* don't understand what she did and what her intentions were
homura chan did nothing wrong

Sayaka, earlier: Is the heart that wished for this really so sinful?
Homura: *makes that wish come true*
Sayaka: you're literally the devil.
(This is just a joke, don't come for me.)
Ikr! lol
But I believe Sayaka only said that to make Homura feel better when she discover she was the Witch.
Sayaka knew the Witch was Homura and that she will probably found that out by herself. So I guess Sayaka was just bluffing when supporting the Labyrinth in their first confrontation.
Sayaka: yknow the labyrinth isn't hurting anyone, so Homura's not so bad.
Sayaka after the universe was rewritten: hey Homura what the FUCK
@@dhampir_days Yeah-She’s doing the same thing cause nobody is hurt
This much was confirmed in the Wraith Arc (Notice how it says to complete its role)
During the movie, and especially during the scene in the labyrinth, there were a few things that caught my eye and lead me to come to this conclusion.
He said "what are you?" Not "who are you?" To which Sayaka replied "we are guided by the law of cycles to break free from the chains of Destiny binding this world."
3) Homura claiming "you were never this agile before".
Listening her voice after she transcended somehow gives me goosebumps....

So fun thing I noticed when watching this movie.
Sayaka is the Archangel Michael.
Michael is the right hand of god, wields a sword, and battles Lucifer.
Sayaka is Madoka's "Private Secretary", wields swords, and confronts Homura at the end here.
Madoka gave the world hope, but it was fragile.
Homura tried to give the world happiness but it is false.

Happiness gets faked to hide the pain.
You'll hope tomorrow will better but a larger part of you knows it won't.
I for one accept our new lord and savior Homura, the original universe was a broken mess anyway, Madoka fixed it but that still left her out of the loop. Homura did the right thing, no one should be sacrificed for the sake of the many, a world like that isn't worth saving anyway.

Homura: "Hold my glock"

Bless. Homura is my queen.
Homura was my favorite character but this gave her a dark turn and made her dark, obsessive, and crazy some comments are putting me at ease to think this is just an act.
Homura ls my waifu no1 and my best female charactere ! I love her sm ! Bless my queen ♡
I'm with Homu homu here. Because I know I would go bad too if I had to endure what she did! Anyone would!
People hating on the English dub, SNAP OUTTA IT! Christina Vee (Homura's voice actor) Did the perfect voice, and really described Homura in a way that made me feel like Homura was evil. She really perfected the dark majesty of Homura Akemi.

Truth
Poor girl. Z
Of course, that's just my take on it. "Homura didn't do nothing wrong, but she didn't do EVERYTHING wrong."
*All hail Homucifer*
Freud say, God and Devil are the same. So maybe the way how Homura become the Devil is a hit of the Ending?
Homura did nothing wrooong!

MikuMikuSnapshot Homura lost her sanity after like the 5th reset
Iskandar, the King of Conquerors she found it again somewhere around the 28th, misplaced it during the 37th, took some time off to open a bar in sub space between the 66th and 67th timelines, spent the 72nd timeline doing nothing but using time stop to fuck with people, actually won in the 88th timeline but did the whole thing blackout drunk so she can’t remember how she did it, and ended up with her waifu apotheosizing on the 100th

I believe that eventually Madoka will get a proper conclusion. After all, there's been talk of another movie recently.
It was a prank is what I've heard was supposed to come out September 2016.
This wasn't how the movie was suppossed to end, actually. The Blu Ray I got has a comment from the creator concerning that matter.
Dr. Jekyll / Mr. Hyde everyone knows that it was suppsoed to end with Homura going to magical heaven but they decided to another direction.
Sushi Wolf I feel like the TV series/first two movies had the best conclusion. It felt more... I guess, complete and fitting.
You're lucky, another movie is coming out, it was announced 4 days ago lol

Manuke's prevelence is mildly interesting.
Higami really lives up to ha name ig
Ohhh, they have name?
Sayaka says Homura had no right? That power was essentially built up with Homura's pain and suffering. It's more or less the crystallization of Homura'ss agony alone. I think she should get a say in this.
Yeah, basicly Homura saved the lives of them all, and the world in extention. If not for her, none of the heroines would be alive.
I guess I can see why that might cause problems because it makes the system even easier to fuck around with when there's not an intelligence behind it
Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Homura Fucks Up The Universe
I mean, is it really that fucked up? Kyubey wont be able to screw with anyone else, Madoka and the others will be able to lead relatively happy normal lives, and generally everyone is happier than they were in the previous world. Madoka's Law of Cycles did not address the elephant in the room, which was Kyubey making magical girls in the first place.
Homura can now alter anything and ANYONE with ease and no one can stop her. She took Madoka resulting in the Law of Cycles being broken, and now no one is able to escape this universe for this world is now an endless labyrinth.
Kamui No Chikara not so much destroy, but to control her so magical girls can turn to witches again...or even worse
Almost 9 years….still a scene that’s never been topped…
I love Homura and her entire character arc
If Sayaka and Nagisa are fundamentally the same and were both brought back together, wouldn't they both still have their memories in this scene?
If you consider that perhaps Nagisa acknowledges what happened and accepts it (she only wanted to eat cheese after all), then this scene with her splashing around in the purple liquid takes on a whole new meaning. The way in which this scene is shot with the water stream splitting the middle is pretty telling as well.
Yay you finally posted!
With literally a wave of a hand she stole Sayaka's powers and memories instantly
Nothing like a devil's labyrinth.
やっぱ、全体的に声が合ってるなぁ…

てか寄せてる感じかな。
Since there's the 4th movie that is coming, it means that the new universe can't be perfect - even if Kyubey is bearing the curses himself. Still, that world must have a flaw somewhere.
Reality has been rewritten twice. If the upcoming movie is the finale of the original series, I think a third rewriting will be done by both Madoka and Homura. What would it be ? Perhaps the destruction of the whole magical system, which would lead to an equivalent of our world...
wait how are they making a new movie if the manga ended?
If that happens, the entropy destroys our universe. If even Madoka could not erase that event from existance, that means Magic Girls must keep existing until the end of times.
@@honeyqie wait, the manga ended ? I hope they don't screw this movie up.
@@honeyqie anime came first doesn’t matter if the manga ended

Sayaka: Why?! We could have had a happy ending!
Homura: Oh, Miki Sayaka. We must milk this cow for all it's worth.
Sayaka: You Demon!
I don't know. I find her English voice a little too alluring. Not that "I don't care" vibe.
She has become more determined than ever to protect Madoka after the events of Rebellion, against the Incubators, against the other Magical Girls, against even Madoka for her own good by concocting this convoluted scheme where she can control everything by becoming a Demon, by playing the part of the evil entity and knowing at the same time her selfishness and wrongfulness in her actions.
blara2401 I thought that was the intention
wait, so she sounds too powerfully and mysteriously attractive or seductive?
The facade theory does work, yes. It's a wholly different turn on the character compared to the original voice, that simply made her look...less...sympathetic, I would say. If you assume the confident side is an act, then it actually goes to show that she regrets her choice. Not in the original dub ; there, she just doesn't care, she acted on her impulse and she seems happy about it. Only when she's confronted with Madoka does she realize she may have hurt her and that it will harm her as well to fight her later on.
All in all, both really do work...
Pause at 4:10 and u can see a ring on saykas hand
It could mean two things, one sayka is STILL a magical girl and she can still transform somehow
Or two
The ring is still there but the magic is gone from it casing sayka to not transform
But... this could mean that she won’t forget them.
Sayaka is a magical girl in Homura's new universe. You all saw her summon her Doppel.
It's simply that Homura used Gold Experience Requiem on her.
You can tell that Kyoko still has her ring too though at 0:40.
If you look closely at Sayaka’s ring, it doesn’t have any runes on it, meaning it’s just a normal ring, and Sayaka’s human again.
"Some men just want to watch the world burn" - This is reminds me Homura.
And i liked her even more for that)))
0:15 after coming back from Scene 0 and see a lot of theories
This could be Homura talking to Mabayu, since she now can remember her.
I saw this again and I really think Homura has gone nuts.
1:54
Educational fact: it is customary in Japan to take your shoes off before committing suicide.
something that sometimes gets overlooked in regards to homura not being evil is that she easily could have just saved madoka and left everyone else to rot, but ahe didn't. she gave mami and kyoko the necessary support to deal with their issues and went out of her way to keep nagisa and sayaka alive (with them being said support). and on sayaka'a side, when it fully sets in that she is alive again and gets to be with the people she cares about, she's happy, if conflicted.
I wish madoka could've bombed the universe i don't really care about the people in the universe and all the magical girls gets bombed too bec you guys are so defending homura that it's ridiculous therefore no human can ever exist or all people are dead including the magical girls
Friend: Name something that's more confusing than maths...
Me: Madoka Magica
Kyoko: always pissing off the doctors cause of her apple addiction
what a masterpiece of a show 11/10 frfr
I love how all the monster from Homura's witch labyrinth become actually drawn in and look natural. And all other witches are still in their different style.
The symbolism in this whole show... Is just awesome! Can't wait to see the next movie. I wonder if the green girl will be the saving force (she becomes a magical girl our of nowhere, confusing Homura and helping out)
