We sat in silence. I spoke of leaving. And from the floor, I tried to crawl away with my arms all but succeeding. I'll water your grave and watch it grow into a bed of lies you sewed in life living long after you are gone. All in all, we're dust and bone so we'll dig our graves before we're old enough to lie in them. We'll spread our ash amongst the dirt to soil the seed that breeds the earth so we can live again. So wait for me to bloom. x2 Stay. We're a garden fed from the blood left in your veins So stay with me or I'll shrivel and dry out. Wait for me to bloom. Stay. We're a garden fed from the blood left in your veins So stay with me or I'll shrivel and dry out. Stay.Stay. Stay.
His name is Anton, super cool guy! My friend, one of his old bandmates from back in hs, and i went to one of their shows in atlanta to lend him a head for his bass cabinet. Got to shake his hand and everything, it was awesome.
I saw these guys live last year, and this video does them no justice. Actually being there and experiencing everything all at once is surreal. Tanner's voice is bone rattling, and I'm extremely happy that we've held a conversation. These guys are amazing, and some of the sweetest bunch you'll ever meet.
@ Ena Mullen ..... I, too, had the Pleasure of speaking with Tanner in 2011 when they opened for Circa Survive. He is like this sweet looking CHERUB but he has SUCH STRENGTH of EMOTION behind that voice. It's incredible to witness that come out of him on stage. Can't Wait until I get to see them again ..... Already seen them 6 times, I think 🤔❓ Mostly on tour with THRICE
I’d be willing to bet at least 1k of the views are from me alone over the last 13 years. This song does something to my soul. I close my eyes and listen and it’s like pure ecstasy.
I too saw them two days in a row open for Thrice and they impressed me more than any opening act I have ever seen. Their intensity and passion is so clear. I wasn't a fan before but now I've seen the error of my ways.
Anecdote Alert. I apologize in advance. The first time I had ever heard of O'brother was when they were featured in the "Stunts" video that Manchester Orchestra put on their TH-cam Channel. My (still apparent) infatuation with the former band lead me to do some research into O'Brother. I found out that they were signed to Manchester's label, favorite gentleman, and my immediate thought was something like: "Well if Andy Hull likes them, so will I." Little did I know, when I clicked on this very thumbnail back in 2013, that this band would become much more to me than my previous conjecture would have suggested. Much of the reason for that was this exact song and this exact performance. This was the first O'Bro song I ever heard, and this was the first version of that song I ever heard. It quickly became not only my favorite song by the band, but of all time, and has remained such for the past four years. The masterful building of tension and suspense with the effectively layered guitar work, coupled with a turmoil and a distress that is uncommon, even in this style of music sometimes, was such a rare find to me, and it is a composition I can analytically and emotionally immerse myself in. This single song has influenced the way I listen to music as well the way I write music to a degree that I have difficulty fully explaining. I've seen them live three times, each for a very different set of bands. I have seen them headline a show locally. They played Ascension that night, but due to my young age (and perturbed parents) I had to leave early, right before they played this exact song. I vividly remember recognizing Anton (the bassist) before the show began at the merch table, and going up to talk to him. Ascension was still on the brain at this point and I told him, with utter honesty that the song was "my favorite song right now". Had I only known how long that very phenomena would have lasted. I saw them again later that year, opening for Manchester Orchestra. In support of a new album, they did not play Ascension, but I was still just as impressed with their live show as the first time I saw them. And sure enough, Anton manned the merchandise table at that show as well. I again, had another chat with him. Last Tuesday, I saw Dillinger Escape Plan on their final tour, and was ecstatic to learn O'brother was opening. When I walked into the venue, sure enough, Anton was chillin' at the merch table once again. I was quick to start another brief conversation with him before walking into the main staging area. I complimented him and the band on their versatility, in that they can play shows with almost any rock artist and still fit. They have a style that is truly their own with pleasant idiosyncrasies that make their music both interesting and accessible. That night, they played a great set, as usual, pulling mainly from their albums Endless Light and Garden Window (which turned five years old that day). During their sound check, their drummer played the linear groove from "Ascension" (2:45) and I couldn't help but smile. That was partially how I remembered this video. It all came full circle. Point being, it's funny how one song or one performance or one video can shape one's interest so much over time. Ascension was that song for me.
My favorite AudioTree session... I've been watching this everyday, multiple times a day.. for a very long time. haha And have recommended this too so many people, and they fucking love it!!!! Saw them live last year... BEST DAY OF MY LIFE.
This band gave and still gives me a lot of inspiration to create music. They are absolutely incredible. Hope one day I'll be able to see them at live performance!
Thanks for the suggestion. Go back to Sessions section of the Audiotree website. In the top right above the first row of sessions there are search filters for finding bands via Genre. or by State. O'Brother is from Atlanta so filter Audiotree sessions from Georgia. Hope that helps !! -Audiotree-
Seen these guy's 3 times total, twice with Thrice....anyone, hah! Thrice is also really amazing and I thank them for touring with O'brother, and introducing them to so many people! They are becoming more popular which is much deserved! As said before chill dudes, extraordinary musicians keep it up!
Actually found out about these guys because of Thrice too. Talked to Riley after a show and he told me to check out their Death of a Day EP which was free and my favourite EP of 2009. Been a fan since! They play amazing.
Remember listening to this when it has just a couple of thousand views and loved it. Watching it now it reminds me of Thrice which are one of my favourites. Gunna check out these dudes!
Thanks to Thrice concerts I started listening to o'brother and The Dear Hunter, two amazing bands. I think I heard Riley say they try to tour with bands they all enjoy listening to. Another reason to be grateful for Thrice.
i totally agree they are really great from the three of the opening bands they were the best not many opening abands can catch my attention. following this band for sure!!
Saw these guys open for Thrice with MovMou and La Dispute, Movmou and these guys were easily in the top 5 bands I've ever seen live, amazing show. Now that Thrice is on hiatus, I have these guys to look forward to..
Great music and super cool guys as well. It's always refreshing to find out the people who make the music you love are also genuinely nice people as well.
I usually don't like dudes that sound like guys when they sing, but, dang, these guys move me on a whole other level. This is as real as rock music gets. Take my money please! You deserve it!
+PatFreakinRick From what I'm getting at, I think he's saying male singers that try to sound manly when they sing which sometimes hinders the music. These dude has a manly yell/sing thing when the chorus opens up, but it really works for them. I feel the same way about screamo vocals. I don't love metal and a lot of times the screaming sounds really low and manly or something, but one band I'm very fond of called Exotic Animal Petting Zoo has vocals that just focus on raw emotion and aren't obscure noises
you Audiotree guys are always getting the best sounds from this great bands, i really admire what you do : ) Keep it in that way `cause you`re awesome. About O`brother, man... this song blow my mind at 3:32! that guys have something good that everyone need to hear.
Don't know if you saw them yet, but they are very impressive live. Love their use of percussion, low driving riffs, and haunting vocals. Pretty sweet band. I've become a fan of tons of different bands thanks to Thrice concerts.
Soundwave + sidewave with The Dear Hunter AND they played this song. Epic show. Would have loved a longer set, but more happy I got to see them at all.
Saw these guys with Animals as Leaders and Thrice last night. Though I went for AAL, I'm really happy these guys went on. One of the heaviest live performances I've ever seen. Listening to them on their CD just doesn't do it justice. I recommend you see them live if you get the chance.
You guys are amazing! I was sooo bummed not to see y'all returning to San Antonio Rock Fest this year! Y'all were sweating your asses off here in Texas!
Dear god, I can't wait to see them with Animals as Leaders and Thrice. I have seen them all live before, and all 3 are absolutely incredible. Honestly has potential to be one of the best shows ever.
Just saw these guys tonight for the first time, blew me fucking away. They were like a mix between deep purple and radiohead and i didn't want them to stop playing. Fucking loved it
If you haven't seen them yet, then be warned not to stand to close to the PA. They are the loudest band I have ever heard and their presence is phenomenal. You're in for a real treat.
Man I really hope you didn't leave. I saw them in Norfolk, VA last night and they were incredible! All in all, I thought this was a great line-up, and would have paid just as much to see these guys headline a show.
A decade later this is still one of my favorite live recordings ever
agree!
We sat in silence.

Stay.Stay. Stay.
This is my all time favorite song and this is my favorite version of this song
hope for post-rock is forever alive
My favorite video ever
This band has the coolest bassist on earth. Hands down.
I agree completly
Words cannot describe how much i agree with you
His name is Anton, super cool guy! My friend, one of his old bandmates from back in hs, and i went to one of their shows in atlanta to lend him a head for his bass cabinet. Got to shake his hand and everything, it was awesome.
I work with Anton at a Dog daycare in chicago. Can confirm he is super cool.
No shit! Jealous....he works at a dog daycare?! haha dope.
how are there only this many views.. I can just cry right now cause there are people out there who have no idea they exist
I saw these guys live last year, and this video does them no justice.

My god, the chorus gives me goosebumps every single time!
Amazing!!
Olha só! Charles curtindo O'Brother
The whole band is the coolest and so under the radar. So much talent.
So glad I subscribed to Audiotree.
Can't even count how many times I've watched this session
I've been coming back time and time again to this video for a full decade 🥲
I’d be willing to bet at least 1k of the views are from me alone over the last 13 years. This song does something to my soul. I close my eyes and listen and it’s like pure ecstasy.
Blown away when I saw them at the Circa show. Felt like I was in a different world and everyone was hypnotized by their music.
Listen again after 5 years! Gives me good vibe!
one of the best bands out there, CANNOT WAIT for their London date this year, finally get to see them
this band continues to help save my life and I'm forever thankful
I too saw them two days in a row open for Thrice and they impressed me more than any opening act I have ever seen. Their intensity and passion is so clear. I wasn't a fan before but now I've seen the error of my ways.

Cody Kirkham You don't like dudes that sound like guys when they sing? What do you typically seek from dude vocalists?
I like Anthony Green, Kellin Quinn, Donovan Melero, et cetera. I'm more into high voices, I feel it more. You see?
+PatFreakinRick From what I'm getting at, I think he's saying male singers that try to sound manly when they sing which sometimes hinders the music. These dude has a manly yell/sing thing when the chorus opens up, but it really works for them.
