My favorite duo
Kuma is the Japanese word for bear. A fitting name for a big boy like Kuma.
Especially since Akita originated from Japan and were bred and trained to hunt bears. Later on the line they would be trained as war dogs, and would make their way into America. While both breeds diverged from there, the American Akita being larger and more intimidating looking, while the Japanese Akita looks like a larger Shiba Inu, they’re still held in high regard as pets usually

Congratulations to their parents for providing the home training necessary to produce such wonderful Akita's. One great Akita can be a fluke. Two great Akita's is intentionally rearing.

This is an American Akita, not all akitas look the same, Americans have breed Akita’s to look a bit weirder and probably have a lot of problem, cause Americans just have to breed every dog 🙄
@NANI?¿ actually the biggest difference is that American akidas are less inbred than Japanese akidas and have fewer health issues AND they are different dog breeds, the Japanese akida is the original but they are now considered distinct breeds

I LOVE Akitas. We had 4 throughout my childhood. I only remember one of them barking once. There was a little girl who lived across the street that was always nasty to my sister who just wanted to be friends. One particular day, A-ko (our Akita) sat in the garage with us kids just observing. The girl across the street started laughing at my sister like she has just said something mean and my sister has looked so dejected. A-ko let out this deep growl and barked at the girl. Her eyes got huge and screamed and ran off😂
A-ko never made a peep before or after that day. She lived her days being affectionate with her family and strangers (once they passed the sniff test) but I got the special treatment and she slept next to me every night. Miss you good girl😢

I'm looking at what dog to get, BC where I live the dogs can't be too big. I'm a senior, so until I remarry, I'm not going to get a pooch of any kind but especially BC most of them shed.

Watching how calm they are compared to how other dogs are with the blow dryer is so interesting! They're all so different, it's neat to watch the different temperaments.
Generally, a well-adjusted Akita is probably one of the most confident dogs you'll ever encounter, and they tend to react calmly to everything...until there's a genuine threat, at which point they'll hassle you until you sort it out (so they don't have to)...
Akitas are pretty calm laid-back dogs. They are also extremely gentle when giving them a treat. So gentle that a 1 year old can give them a treat without you having to worry about the dog biting the 1 year old's fingers. As long as you aren't being threatening to the Akita or anyone in it's pack especially it's owner it will be one of the most gentle and chilled breeds you can come across.

These 2 are beautiful!! I had an Akita many many years ago that was a Pinto. He was extremely smart, very funny and very territorial. He is still the most beautiful black and white dog I have ever seen. I miss him dearly. Rip Barney Boo 🙏🏻

My first thought, they're a very demanding breed. They did a fantastic job training them.
I love that the second one was clearly very nervous about having her nails clipped but still behaved and stayed calm.
She drug up the dogs before the procedure, thats why they all are so calm. High on cbd (she showed that in one of hers videos) and who knows what else. That was the point i stopped watching her videos....

I've only seen an Akita in the flesh once. I was at the vet's office, turned around & two were standing right behind me. I knew they were big dogs but was surprised at just how big & SOLID they were. Handsome, impressive dogs.
Of course, I had to give pets & hugs (after asking the owners if it was okay) & they graciously accepted my attentions & affection. Made my day.💙🌿
I’ve mostly seen American akitas, but when I saw a Japanese akita for the first time I almost gasped. They are much more elegant compared to the bear like Americans and definitely look more like an Asian dog!
