oof! impactful stuff, I was on the verge of tears and had to give in around the 44:30 mark. Make this woman the first non-partisan president of your country. Also, Glenn! You've handled this interview masterly, it should be recquired viewing for future interviewers or those who want to improve themselves in their metier/.

I love that! “I will not be quiet” That just impacts me. She needs to be given the spotlight and she needs to be Center stage. She is speaking some truth, and you can tell because people want her to shut up. I will be finding a way to donate to her cause.

If I found myself in Sylvia's position of people shooting at her house to intimidate her, I would arm myself as well. That's one reason I think the 2nd amendment is important, though I don't find myself in a situation where I need to arm myself. My respect for Sylvia increased when I learned that she is able to wield deadly force and has not used that power to take revenge.

Sylvia is a beautiful and shining human light, a model of love for all of us. Keep telling the truth and shaming the devil Sylvia! Some highlights for me towards the end.
GL: How would you feel about connecting with families who have lost children to mass shootings?
“Violence is violence. The pain a mother goes through putting her child in the ground or in a vault with the hopes to see them one day spiritually-there’s no description for that kind of pain. And there’s no economic lines for that kind of pain. There’s no color lines for that kind of pain. We [mothers] all experience that kind of pain…we share the same hurt….It’s a mother’s pain.”
GL: Why do you think, Sylvia, that I know the names of the mothers of Michael Brown, and Travon Martin, and Eric Gardener and George Floyd, but I didn’t know your name until today?
“Because you can’t make money off my baby. I’m gonna tell the truth and shame the devil! That’s something my grandmother used to say.”

I've listened to this talk twice now. I was reminded of Sylvia and her strength after reading a few social media posts about "if my child didn't come home from... x, y, or z... I'd burn it all down, too." Why movements that advocate for authentic change don't get more societal attention, I'll never understand.
Don't forget Sylvia Bennett-Stone has a book: Mind Fields: A Healing Journey to Survive the Murder of a Child

I’ve lived in Birmingham since 2003 and in that time, countless civilians and police officers have been murdered in our streets. Yet the national media covers none of it. I went to the viewing of Marcus Smith, murdered in Birmingham in December 2010.
Why haven’t we heard of this mother before now? Shame on legacy media for letting her work go uncovered.

Had to find you after your great interview with Tucker Carlson. Keep giving these families a voice. So sad to hear a colleague at the Woodson Center lost a grandchild to community violence on Memorial week-end. The elite white liberals who say defunding police is the answer are despicable.

I must ask, where are the fathers, their love and their sorrows in this conversation? Surely there are men active in this movement. Why are we not discussing the shared grief and efforts of all the parents?

I think it would help humanity and unity if groups would stop putting the word black in front of their group name.
With that being said I am sorry for what she has gone through. She seems to be an amazing woman doing great things.

My heart breaks for this lady, but who is raising the men doing this? Mother's Voices, Mothers of the Movement, etc. Without fathers they will continue to look for male leadership and camaraderie on the streets.

But do they talk to young girls about having children very young and not having the father in the house? Their mission takes affect after the life is lost. Wouldn't it be better to stop the violence before the life is lost?

Dealing with a crisis after the fact is a completely different job than the one you’re referring to and we have no reason to expect her to handle both ends. I’d argue helping grieving mothers just might be undermined if you follow it up with implying they’re shouldn’t have had the kid in the first place. Just a thought.
