    Stunning view of the beach from the top of the climb. Definitely worth it. Hot sunny weather followed by a sudden downpour reminded me of my last trip. The accommodation there is so affordable.

    Awesome beaches and so many. Almost all of the beach area here is privately owned and the public areas are so crowded especially on weekends. It looks like you have found paradise there.

      It's a wonderful part of the country and so unspoiled by mass tourism that's already ruined so many coastal areas here.

    Back again! That first climb somehow reminded me of Ko Chang, which the whole video did actually. You made us fall in love with Thailand there and then my friend. Can’t wait to see the other 25 or so that I still need to watch 😉

    • @Biking360
      @Biking360  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That video was a few tours back but I had a brilliant time. I currently riding down towards Koh Chang on a $100 bike. Testing the concept of if you can tour comfortably on a cheap bike. I'm meeting a friend at the narrowest point of Thailand but hope to also get over to KC.

    Thank you for documenting and posting your ride. I expect domestic tourism to pick up south of the area below the Western tourist radar (South of the mainland from Koh Samui, along Nakhon Si Thammarat and Songkhla to Pattani and Narathiwat). These areas used to have a lot of indiscriminate prawn hatcheries directly draining effluent onto beaches which might cause skin irritation to swimmers (a problem along Songkhla beaches). And traditionally most areas fishing was previously a main occupation. However, things have improved in control and hygiene. Now tourism is picking up. Domestic tourism is dependent on public and school holidays so if you go in between it will be fairly bear. Great place to go if one is adventurous and not particular about getting Western entertainment and company.

      Nakhon Si Thammarat is one of my favourite places. Beautiful beaches, unspoilt, and the most incredible friendly people. I love it!!

    Amazing how most of this coast is overlooked, the lure of thge (overdeveloped) islands I guess, but nowadays these are the places for real relaxation :)

    • @Biking360
      @Biking360  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I couldn't agree more. The islands and main tourist draws are nothing but tourist ghettos these days.

  • @NigelKaz

    Is that the furthest South you went on the East coast? A friend of mine has a cafe and restaurant just 25 km south of Tharadol, called SalaNakhon. If you continued South I'd love to see more video. Or did you cross over to the Andaman sea from there? Another friend said Krabi is the most beautiful place in Thailand, so I wonder if you went there at all. In the description of the first video in this series you said you'd cross over and go North to the Myanmar border and back to Hua Hin. Did that all work out the way you planned?

    • @Biking360
      @Biking360  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Tim. On this trip, I went all the way down to Hat Yai. You will find the videos in chronological order after this one. On a subsequent trip, I rode from Hua Hin and crossed over to the west at Chumpon to Trang and then down the coast via Phuket and Krabi to Satun before crossing back to Hat Yai and to the Malaysian border through the southern provinces of Songla, Pattani, Yala, and Narratiawat.

  • @allroundvision
    @allroundvision 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am considering a similar ride to your Southern Thailand series as one of several options. All depends on covid and my work. Possibly the best time for me to take off from work coincides with the wet season. Although you posted these videos in August, this is the only time you show heavy rain, is it madness to plan a bike tour in Southern Thailand in the wet season?

    • @Biking360
      @Biking360  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think it is because monsoon rain, though intense, doesn't generally last for too long. That just means you have to try to anticipate it the best you can and take shelter. Always a good excuse for a rest! Keep thing cool too :)
