- Kratos and Mimir being bros for 7 minutes straight
God of War Ragnarök is an upcoming action-adventure video game developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It is scheduled to be released worldwide on November 9, 2022, for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. It will be the ninth installment in the God of War series, the ninth chronologically, and the sequel to 2018's God of War. Loosely based on Norse mythology, the game will be set in ancient Scandinavia and feature series protagonist Kratos and his teenage son Atreus. Serving as the finale to the Norse era of the series, the game will cover Ragnarök, a series of events that bring about the end of days, and depicts the deaths of some of the Norse gods, which was foretold to happen in the previous game after Kratos killed the Æsir god Baldur.

Such an amazing change in character for kratos, Even noticeable in his design changes, Look at his eyes, They seem more, Brighter and wider, He has changed from always saying "It is not your concern" to being more open and willing to tell his friends around him what happened or what's wrong, Even sharing these moments of humor and light-hearted times, He has changed so much and it's for the better, Even in the last game where mimir said "You should take it boy" "Yes boy take it, We may need to butter bread on our journey" Even with that it shows he started changing in that game and now this, He shows that he is a lot closer with his son, And calls him by his name rather than boy, And him and mimir acting like brothers, I've seen some dialogue between them and they roast each other, One time in vanaheim mimir said
"Big footprint"
Kratos "Smartest. Man. Alive."
"You try having conversation with you sometimes" And it's hilarious, We even see later on in the game where kratos visibly smiles! And in the first like 17 minutes he says he will go get the deer and atreus already has it, He walks a bit, Turns around and smirks a little, Such an amazing way they wrote his character, He changed from this stoic, Quiet, non smiling guy to this, That is why this game is my pick for game of the year
LET'S FREAKING GO RAGNARÖK!!!!!!
I love that mimir understood kratos intention of asking atreus to train while he was mourning fenrir death.

People are saying that this is one of the reasons that Kratos’ character was ruined. To me, this is one of the best developments of a person who is finally able to open up and be a much wiser version of himself. Well made and written.
prob just cringy or emo kids that love his vengeful character, as the older fans like a chill kratos with actual people he can call family.
Yeah,I really prefer the new kratos and his personality,it adds so much more to the game. People complaining are ridiculous.
And the development on his character it’s so palpable yet so well done even during the first game, where he just did the sub quests excusing himself as only wanting the resources people gave him vs Ragnarok where he is perfectly willing to help creatures and people just so he could expend more time with Atreus before anything more crazy happens.
Cause a lot of people are simple minded and prefer the “loud, punch everything while screaming because it’s cool” character rather than one with an actual personality and growth. Kratos in these past two games has been amazing.
@@Sewibl self inserts are very prominent it seems, explains why tons of weebs like a bland fantasy protagonist

I'm surprised that no one points out how he doesn't call Mimir head, or Brok and Sindri dwarves, or Freya woman, or Atreus boy. Showing how much he cares for them now. I'm Atreus he always cared for but that's besides the point.
I think it's also meant to show he's gotten better with the language, given how he now reads the runes and speaks a lot more this game
@@barozukos7791 i dont think its that, i think its him learning to open up more. Because i assume Faye was kind of a bridge between Kratos and Atreus, and now that she's been gone for a while Kratos has had to adjust and learn to communicate with his son more.

I really loves Kratos and Mimir interaction. Kratos DO appreciate good advice for someone who actually know what theyre doing. And Mimir is smart enough to know how to shut the fuck up and only open his mouth to gives kratos advice.
Kratos appreciates his intelligence and memory.
And even if he won’t admit it, the distraction and emotional brevity that he lacks, especially in dealing with Atreus.
Kratos is perfectly capable of being empathetic and emotional, but he’s humourless and not prone to explaining himself, Mimir helps balance out his stoicism when it comes to interaction.

I love the evolution of kratos’ relationship with mimir, before it was “shut up head” now kratos calls him brother it feels like how he would of talked to Deimos if he were still alive and it feels good and weird to see kratos who is extremely defensive and slow to trust to let someone in his little bubble.
This is what makes a good voice actor, when your tone can express more than what you say.
After Freya explains how magic is bound to the land, both Mimir's comment and Kratos's interjection express dissapointment.

he was imitating Mimir's way of speaking, still really nice anyway
He says enough to mean it, it wasn’t just a one time thing and considering that Kratos has had a lot of siblings and yet only ever called Deimos and Hercules brother, him referring to Mimir as such says a lot about his respect for the talking head and how strong their bond has grown.
He also says in his codex thing written from his perspective that he considers Mimir a friend and brother something he can’t say for many.

And the ones who were genuine to him just fucking die anyway

Sindri was such a good and happy lad before Brok's death...
I wish I could help him y'know
I know, he needs time to grieve and reflect on his brother’s death, just like Freya did with Bauldur, if Kratos and Atreus can win her back to their side, I’m sure they can do the same with Sindri.
He went from being the goofy ahh fun comic relief character everyone likes to becoming insanely depressed and miserable.
I can't help but feel genuinely sorry for him like, man I wish the gang gets him back somehow or atleast help him get through his problems before the series inevitable switches to the next Mythology setting.

Mimir is like that one guy that most people hate, but is actually the best person to be around
Kratos so often associates negative feelings with pain that he seeks pain out to make sense of his feelings...
Kratos learned many things from mimir
That's what Kratos deserves. Friends, family, a home and finally being worshiped like the god he is. It's so nice to see him along with the other characters after more than three games where he lived a life of killing, necessarily and unnecessarily.
Being with Mimir for 3 years Kratos has accepted his friendship and so has Mimir. (Yes thier was a 3 year time skip between games.) I luv how it shows they have become close friends over the past 3 years. They obviously have trust between each other now. Before Kratos kept calling him Head but now he calls Mimir by his name. It shows how much they have grown over time and I luv that.

The friendship between these two is the best thing to come out of these games.
Kratos' homeland was not destroyed. Several gods, demigods and legacies yet survived, plus humanity imbue with the power of hope.
They must have been Orthodox now.
The people are still alive, but the land was definitely destroyed

@@blackroberts6290 imagine, lol. If they people of his homeland give way to the age of Arthurian Legend.
At this point it is most likely already in Roman hands
@@DiscusvissenRocken that's actually such an interesting scenario, because the gods of Rome are basically a reiteration of the Greek gods. We know at the end of GoW 3 Kratos sacrificed himself to give humanity the power of hope so they could rebuild. Problem was, Greece was straight up an apocalyptic wasteland by the time Kratos left, and all infrastructure was gone. So what if, instead of rebuilding the land, the survivors sailed to Italy and eventually established Rome, and giving it the only belief system they knew of, thus empowering what little essence of the Greek gods there was left with their own belief and that of their descendants? What if that eventually was enough to bring back Olympus, but one without the memories of Kratos utterly wiping it out.
What if the GoW Greek gods are still out there, just as their roman form?
I’ve just now realized mimir isn’t the first severed head kratos has carried around with him

Seriously he is not only funny as hell, but incredibly wise and voice of reason.
Glad he is a true and trusting friend for kratos.
Possibly one of the few in his life. And a God that doesn't betray or use him.
The writers of this game series are amazing at making all of us be in awe of the fact that kratos grew SO much
Mimi’s is like the first and only best friend Kratos has ever made in his entire life.
Kratos chuckling at the laird's tale was very much in character for him. It was a story of one man's resolve and the weakness of another.
Have there been any other times Kratos has laughed from pure amusement rather than psychotic rage? A rare moment indeed
I love the kelpie scene! The animations, slow mo, and sound are all references to the exact scene they were just talking about!
I’ve been a God of War fan since 2009, waiting for God of War III with my pops, and loving every game, including the PSP games. Seeing the tortured, broken yet dauntless, vengeful yet grief-stricken former father and husband and Ghost of Sparta, thoroughly mellow out and grow wisdom, decency, camaraderie and openness to new friends and relationships, is the coolest, and most heartwarming evolution of an already incredible character. Seeing him retrieve the Blades of Chaos for his son in 2018 only compounded this feeling for me, as his love for his son was more important than his own pain, and he needed them to save Atreus.
“Kratos! Throw me at him! HORNS FIRST!” -Mimir to Kratos

Kratos calls mimir his friend in his journal. I love how these two have become homeboys. More so in ragnararok

1:12 you can hear Sindri holding in laughter.
I love that in Ragnarok he is regularly seeking Mimir’s council, and respects when Mimir disagrees. I think Ragnarok has seen Kratos at his most mature, as much as I love the young angry god slayer I love the wisened older god of war even more.
Thats odin
“I’ll show you permanent damage you were fuck, kratos throw me at him, horns first” 😂😂
You know it's real when Kratos has begun calling Mimir brother too. Whilst Mimir has served as someone to give Kratos counsel and advice, people may overlook the times Kratos has given the "Smartest Man Alive" his own measure of counsel. Two good examples of this are when Kratos frees the Lyngbakr and during the Berserker boss fights. With Kratos imparting his own knowledge on these subjects from his own path in Greece and subsequent growth because of Faye.
It's these things that make these latest God of War games such an unforgettable experience. Not to say previous games weren't, but I feel these games moreso. Everything feels so natural and thought out, like everything no matter how small finds a way to come back full circle.
Mimir is the perfect choice to be Kratos' friend; he balances the war god's stoicism and seriousness with fresh wit and humor.
Kratos chuckling gives me life
Kratos: snuffs one candle
The room: 👨🏻👨🏿
You gotta love their banter. Mimir always know how to answer, great voice acting too.
I think “I’d like to climb a tree again”, is actually my favorite line from Mimir.
He truly doesn’t hold anything against Kratos, and in this situation he could clearly lecture Kratos over not having a body, instead we see him have a genuine open heart to heart with a humble wish of something benign, said without even the slightest hint of regret or contempt.
That single simple line really defines the depth of their friendship.
For Brok to just go up and touch Kratos without saying a word says a lot about how much Kratos trust him. Enough to even call him friend.
