I have been waiting for Flight Simulator 2020 for more then 3 years now and we can finally play the game, as I didn't want to play with my keyboard I ordered the Logitech Extreme 3D PRO a flight-stick with 12 programmable buttons and built in rudder mechanism, and in this review I will let you know all about my experiences after playing with it for more than 10 hours in the new Flight Simulator 2020.

This joystick never grows old. My grandpa used it to play Horse-Drawn-Carriage-Sim-1945 on his ENIAC computer.
PN Houle who cares how old it is if it works. The fact that it’s been around for this long is a reflection to its success. I’ve just ordered one after trying to use the keyboard and can’t wait.

@@lol-lp4tw It does the job mate. The keys at the base of the joystick are customizable and the hat control is great for looking around the aircraft or views outside. I'd say go for it, you cant go wrong for that price.
srsly. i have this in my closet from decades ago! but still a good stick. WHOA - but price has gone up! i bought my stick for $35!

@@Ulfheodin Most joysticks are gray and black though. Also, what is 'more modern', joysticks haven't really changed in shape besides the ones the emulate real sticks.

You can feel it's from old times were designer thought it was a good idea to try to copy metal color with paint x)
I mean just a black base with grey buttons like the stick would be cooler and not more expensive.
I've used 3D Pro joysticks for years. I have several of them, some of which I bought from flea markets and thrift stores. Every one of them, when I took them home and cleaned them up, calibrated and worked perfectly. As long as you have a light hand on the stick, and don't slam them around, they'll last a very long time. They're also the most ergonomic stick on the market, which makes a BIG difference for long trips/missions.
How much did you buy yours? Asking because of scalpers.
What did you use for throttle?
Theres a little throttle on the sidestick, if not you can buy a throttle seperately or add keybinds to the keyboard to increase/decrease thrust@@thelastfrank310

Have been watching msfs 2020 videos for a while and thinking of getting it. Also searched around for suitable joysticks when I remembered I bought a joystick 13-14 years ago that I rarely even tried.
Now after looking through old storage for half an hour I found my Logitech extreme 3d pro and your video. Wasn't even sure the old joystick i had tucked away was going to be compatible, but now I'm more excited than ever to start playing. Thank you! 😀

Good review. Use button # 1 for your basic breaks. You're spot on with the evaluation. I've been using my 3D PRO with FSX and X-Plane for years. Keep up the great work!

I've only played the training courses in MSFS2020, but really enjoyed so far; and am keen to play a lot more (especially while on lockdown 😐). I used Xbox One controller on PC, which actually works quite well. However, I was interested in a proper joystick, and think this one is a reasonably priced option. Thanks for the great review 🙂

Me too. I have to say mine is a little worn out, so it's a bit loose and was giving me some control problems. If that happens, you can adjust the dead zones to make it less likely to give you any unintended control inputs. I also re-assigned pretty much all the buttons to make it more like I was used to when playing FSX. I reprogrammed the het switch to let me pan around the cockpit and externally instead of the "quick views" and I set the trigger to apply brakes. I also assigned the two buttons left of the hat switch as the trim and the buttons to the right of the hat switch to increase and decrease the flaps. Probably just personal preference, but it's a lot more comfortable and intuitive for me now.

Great review. I just played for a couple hours on my friend’s PC (I just started buying parts for my own, and hoping for it to be built by end of September!) and I found that playing with the keyboard was extremely clunky and honestly too “touchy.” A gentle input of a keystroke sometimes resulted in the plane spiralling out of control. For $30-40, this seems like a great product and I’m definitely considering buying after this review. Thanks again!

Haha unfortunately i bought a 1660 Super about 3 weeks ago on sale for $229. The new gpu’s are still out of my current budget but I will likely upgrade in about a year. You win some you lose some!
Lobo Hog yeah I feel ya man. 1660 still great for the money. Lucky you didn’t grab a full blown 2080 or similar. You can still enjoy 1080p ultra setting at 60fps min for every game currently and that’s nothing to be upset about. I too am waiting till Christmas sales next year before upgrading
C right now my tentative plan is to use the 1660 Super for about a year, sell it, and then buy something of 2070 super equivalence (hopefully will be pretty cheap). If I’m able to save more, I might go for the 3070. I have no need to have top of the line, especially with an R5 3600

Bought it too just before FS2020 launch, for only $25, I cannot compare it with the other brands but I am very satisfied so far, I think must be the best price/performance joystick, even though it's more comfortable with the right hand, I use it with my left hand, and use my mouse on the right hand to look around and click on the virtual cockpit, I have put 5% of dead zone and -70% sensibility on all axis except throttle axis, after seing many videos from RL pilot, I think it make the controls more realistic that way

I just ordered this joystick along with the throttle control. I just started using X Plane 11 and have been flying a loop around north America in a Cirrus Vision Jet SF50 which flies with a joystick much like this one :) should be here tomorrow
After battling with logitech yoke in my first experience with msfs recently and doing badly in the flight training because I felt the yoke was too clunky for me, I bit the bullet and bought this joystick. The difference is night and day! It's movements are precise and just right for me. I'm now completing the flight training with none of the troubles I had with the yoke. Wish I had tried the joystick first.

that's the joystick i use for FS 2020. which was bought way back when i first purchased MS Flight Sim X back in 2007. still going strong, though i did have to put in some dead zones for the rudder since aileron input would result in slight rudder movement (made for an adventure landing at times !). once that deadzone was established, it's been smooth flying, and landings, for me with the extreme 3d pro
Do you play on PC, I play on Xbox series x and I don't think this joystick is compatible with Xbox?

So happy that these are back in production now and i can buy one, not a fan of yokes as i love the simplicity of a sidestick and since my favourite planes are airbus and fighter jets which all use sidesticks

I have a flight yoke from saitek and this joystick currently. I often times prefer to use the joystick because it takes up much less space and still give excellent performance. I don't feel like I lose any control from using it plus it does have rudder functionality which I don't have on the Yoke and throttle. By the way your english is great.

I was thinking about getting the Thrustmaster T Flight hotas, but since the throttle has a mid point that it snaps to, think I'd rather get this and later on pair it with a proper throttle controller

Good review. Logitech Extreme 3D Pro is the best budget flight sim joystick you can buy. I have 3, 2 are spares.

i have the same flight stick and when im in flight i cant let go of it without the plane going to the right and up pretty hard. is there a fix or is this just how it works?

at 2:05 you cover the throttle stick. Can you get small or fine control of the throttle? If I wanted to gently push the throttle from 100% down to say 87%, would that work pretty well? = Also is it easy to set up? and is set up automatic, or would I need to manually set every button? at 3:57 you say you can change buttons with the something, but I couldn't understand even after slowing down the audio. Can you tell me what you've said? thanks

LOL, my extreme 3D pro is from 2007 and is still working fine. Not sure if they stepped down the quality for the newer ones.
Best flight stick to ever hit the market. Still being made today, because they work. Just wish it had a real throttle counterpart to go with it after all these years.
also wish Logitech, if they are still making them, would provide better support for Win11, the joystick works for the most part but hard to configure since Logitech Game Profiler doesn't locate it, neither does the G Hub
Do you have to set it up like all the buttons? Or when you connect it you can directly use it in game?

I used to play with a USB PS2 controller, and I used to do a feature in menu controls, It's called: "Center ailer rudder" in flight control surface/Primary control surface section, (I think Number 5 on keyboard), So this feature make the yoke returns to the middle in cockpit & it's make the plane balanced & going straight when I lose control of the plane or when I take my hands off the controller to relaxing my hands or when I get up from the computer for a minute, So when I came back to the computer I found the plane still going in a straight way & I feel happy. (This function it's not Auto pilot, It's Center ailer rudder)
But after I play with a new joystick "logetich Extreme 3D Pro" and when I adjust the same feature (Center ailer rudder) on one of the joystick buttons. So when I click on that button. I see the yoke returns to the middle in cockpit, BUT when I take my hand away from the logitech joystick, the plane going down or going up.
So I have to hold the logetich joystick all the time to control the plane. Why was this not happening to me on the PS2 controller?
