That's a really useful review, thanks. I wonder if you have tried the 20l version of the Arete Two? I'm trying to decide whether to get the 20 or 25 version to use in a central position in a two storey 4 bed house.
go with the 25L. the 20L will have the same slushing sound the 18l already has. we have to wait for some inverter compressor dehumidifiers to make their way in to uk . until then the 25L meaco is the only option for us here.
@@CaptainScarlet-n7c this is what my wise ass thought after reading reviews of other users on costco. they clearly wrote about this issue and i ignored their warning signs due to that version costing £90 less then the 25L and both models being the exact same apart form having 33% less freon gas. the rest was the exact same specification and physically you can never tell them apart. just go with the 25L. try to buy off amazon and get the 3 or 4yr accidental warranty directly from amzon. also register with meaco for 5yr warranty. you should be squared away for some time. my suggestion is to buy 2 units . 1 for top floor. your bath robes or bath towels arent going to dry themselves . this will help. i have stopped using my dryer. just hang stuff indoors and my 25l keeps everything dry.
does night mode actually dehumidify the air? Does attaching HEPA filters increase noise? because i want to use it in my bedroom at night too and get like 40-45% humidity from 60%. My bedroom is like 20m2 in size and 33db noise level measured on my bed with my smartwatch. About the HEPA filters, they likely restrict airflow which forces the fans or motor to run at higher speed to compensate, producing more sound. The more obstacles air has to go through, the weaker the flow becomes. From my experience with building computers is that modern computer fans are generally much better than the noisy fans used by big companies in such devices. It might even improve the product to attach (couple of) computer fans at the back when HEPA filter is attached but there might be a risk of frost issues.
hi, yes . i now keep the dehumidifier near my bedroom on night mode 24/7. all the night mode does is keep the display off and isnt so active in starting the compressor. think of it as eco mode in a car. thats all. nothing else is different from normal mode. best to use smart plug like tapo p110m to schedule the dehumidifier to switch off at 10 pm and restart back up at 7am. it will keep your life easier. you dont need the smart plug if you can programme this setting inside the app. i couldnt so hence the smart plug
@@ARK1MAC1 Thank you for the answer. I just received a mail from Meaco a few hours ago and they also mention to just turn off the device at night because the compressor turning on and off might disturb sleep. Combined with closing doors and windows, probably to prevent humidity from quickly rising. Does the device still dehumidify the air with compressor off or nothing at all?
the 12l is silent in comparison to the 25l. however i will suggest to only buy the 25l as the 12l seems under powered. the 25l is a bullet to bite due to steep price however there is no alternative in uk market. currys is selling a woods dehumidifier for 450 quid and that is the only near competitor to this 25l version
@@ARK1MAC1 Thanks useful info. I think I've already made up my mind to get the 25L, but wanted something smaller that might be quiet enough for use overnight in a bedroom as this is the worst room for high humidity.
@@lukesuccony9978 dont buy the 12L the humming noise is irritating and wouldnt let you sleep. i would still buy the 25 l for the bedroom and use a tapo 110m smart plug to schedule switch off during sleep hours and let it run during day time. i dont like to post unverified defects on my channel hence am telling you that the only one to buy is the 25L . not the 20L or any other type. even the 25L will humm louder after 1 or 2 months. however being powerful will shut down quicker then the 12L or smaller versions. other alternative is to buy the dessicant version. whatever you buy for bedroom you will always have to use smart plug to schedule sleep time.
@@ARK1MAC1 ok, thanks for the tip. I did begin to think that one for the bedroom won't work due to the noise after seeing the dB levels. Will investigate desiccant as well.
the 12l is relatively quiet . however its not as powerful as the 25L . like not even half as powerful as the 25L. better go with the 25L and run it for less time in comparison to the 12L. keep the 25L away from bedrooms and you will be fine. no matter how quiet all compressors are going to create a humming sound which is in the irritating frequency for most people.
i run my dehumdifiiers 24/7. at least the living room one. the one in the hallway is switched off through a tapo p110m smart plug from 10pm till 6am as i dont want the noise near bedrooms. the dehumidifier switches off once the desired humdidity is achieved . i keep mine at 40%. it switches on every hour to check if the humidity is within settings. if increased it switches on the compressor and after achieving humidity it switches off again. i have around £0.50 / day on 2 25L dehumidifiers .
@@ARK1MAC1 I'm confused, the website says "we recommend positioning the dehumidifier in a hallway, with all internal doors open and windows closed", does this mean that if I purchase a dehumidifier I must keep my windows closed all the time?
@@faber80mt well no. you can open windows up however open windows will let in humidity sometimes when external humidity is higher then internal home humidity. this will lead to the water tank filling up faster. internal doors open means the dehumidifier can pull humidity from all rooms in the house and if you keep any room closed the chances of the dehumidifier teleporting in to that room and dehumidifiying it is low.we need to consult captain kirk on this matter.
@@ARK1MAC1 Cheers for the reply, it's all about compromise I'm afraid, I love to open a window for fresh air but as you correctly said, the moment I do, humidity rockets back to 85 in winter.
Haha I switched mine on as soon as I got it didn’t wait 6 hours was that in the book 😂😂😂
Best review out there good work, thanks

If you run 24/7 how much does that cost.
£1.5/day if the compressor doesn't stop working according to manufacturer. in reality just 0.50 cents / day or less
How many hours a day do you run each dehumidifier for ?
