"Republic Day, celebrated on January 26th every year, is one of India’s most significant national festivals. It commemorates the day in 1950 when the Constitution of India came into effect, replacing the Government of India Act (1935) and establishing India as a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic.
The main celebration takes place in New Delhi, at the historic Rajpath, with a grand parade attended by the President of India, who is also the Chief Guest of the event. The parade features a spectacular display of India’s cultural diversity, military strength, and technological advancements. Marching contingents from the armed forces, state-wise cultural tableaux, and performances by school children create a vibrant and patriotic atmosphere.
Across the country, Republic Day is marked with flag hoisting ceremonies, patriotic songs, cultural programs, and speeches in schools, colleges, and public spaces. It is a day to honor the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and to reaffirm our commitment to the democratic principles and values enshrined in the Constitution.
