  • didnt intend to make a repair video, this is just a collection of iphone message updates on my progress.
Got these turntables and one arrived with a major issue and since I could not find a single thing on the internet for this issue on this specific model so I figured I would show a brief summary of the issue and the fix.
The Magnetic balance ring underneath the platter bearing was eroded and snapped in half. You have to completely remove the Spindle unit in order to glue the ring back on and make sure that the pinhole metal object is balanced in the middle so it floats and free spins. It took me several attempts to get it right. Getting the Spindle unit off was the most difficult process, you have to spin the top nipple part (for lack of better description) counter clockwise with a wrench because its quite difficult to turn and it will slowly work its way out. once you get the ridge past the inside you can switch to a rubber mallet and gently tap the non pointy end and it makes it a LOT easier. You will need to re-grease up the pinhole hole and shaft and glue the nipple to the main shaft so they spin together then make sure everything is evenly mounted and screwed with the spacers in place.
Please feel free to comment questions on specifics if you have this issue, this whole thing was a crazy learning process. and they build these things like a tank. I also have Str8 - 80s and Str8 60's and the platter removal is completely different for those models FYI (I Checked)
Hope this helps anybody with this issue

    Hi, my
Stanton STR8-100 when cold the platter does not spin it is blocked. if I give it a push then it turns normally and works well.. then after a few hours that it stays off the problem comes back.. I don't know, it's the motor or the magnet

it seems to be a common thing in these, but when my magnet broke I used a small amount of super glue to re attach the two halfs but it wont float and freespin without the magnet there

Where did you get new ring magnet? How is this part called exactly?
Mine to get out was not so difficult but a kind tricky. There is no screw, just the air suction keep it strong in the place. turning right, left, right, left... and pulling with a tool makes it easy to take it out from the hole.
