Hi there! I'm a bit of an aviation enthusiast and I'm curious as to why you went with two blade propellers instead of the three blade which is the correct design? BTW I flew on an Eastern Airlines "Connie" in 1956 and was terrified of its awesome power. Loved the slow motion effect as it made the plane look like a Hollywood movie.

My late best friend's Mother, "Amber Rigby" worked at Burbank for Lockheed and had many interesting stories concerning her job. At first, her job was installing the nose cones on P-38 Lightning's. Then, as the war neared closure, she was put to work on Connies. I forget what it was but she was told not to do something that needed done on one and she said: "If I don't do that, the entire tail section will come off upon landing." "No..." she was told; "It'll be all right." Well, according to her, the entire tail section did fall off upon landing. Can any Aviation Historian back her story up? She wasn't known to lie. She died about 7 years ago at age 97.

In 1957, when I was 13, I flew with my parents on a N.W. Orient Airlines Constellation from Seattle to Honolulu. Stewardesses handed out small packs (containing 6 smokes) of free promotional cigarettes-Pall Mall, as I recall. Someone recorded our flight on the plane with a couple of black-and-white Polaroid photos. And since everyone dressed up for such a memorable trip, we all looked terrific. Regular-class seats were wonderfully spacious.

I was 10 and emigrating to 🇨🇦 from 🇱🇺. First leg, KLM, A'Dam to Idlewild NY. They gave me a die cast model of the plane which I treasured.
I'll never forget the moonlight shining on the wing and wing tip tank, while the whole wing flexed. Mesmerizing.

Hmmm..... You be 78 now? Other than people now wearing casual dress and displaying poor manners, not much has changed flying from KSEA to KHNL. It still takes 6 hours and you still sit in a pressurized aluminum tube with 200 of your closest traveling companions.

This has got to be one of the most beautiful model planes ever built and excellent flying, as well. I wish someone would make three and four blade props for these models to give them absolute realism and performance. Obviously it has wet wings, would love to see the fueling operation. Thanks for posting.

The Lockeed Constellation really influenced me to become an airline pilot when I was young. My dad would take me to KC Municipal airport to watch airplanes and the TWA Connies were the major attraction. I was very enamored with the Connie. Later in life I became friends with several men that flew the Connie. Great stories. Beautiful model. I can't imagine the hours of hard work to build it. Thanks for the video.

I'm 67 years old and this brings back so many memories. My dad would take me to Bradley Airport in Windsor Locks CT. and we would sit on the hood of his car watching planes arrive and depart. There was nothing like watching the "Connie" fire up those multi-radial engines. Smoke would fill the air and you would feel the air blast. The only barrier separating us from the aircraft was a 4 foot high "hurricane fence", you have to be my age to remember those. They were basically sticks with some wire. Those were the days.

I started traveling in 1961 in jets like the B-707 and the DC-8, but once, when boarding a Pan Am jet in Rome, I spotted a white, beautiful TWA Super-Connie Starliner parked on the apron, and I was impressed by its beauty, its sleekness - and its wingtip tanks, which made her capable of flying USA-Italy non-stop.... Congratulations for your model, which reminded me of the Starliner I saw in Rome.

    • @deksea

No, you are not. But its not just opinion, its fact. The "Connie" was without doubt the sexiest plane ever built. Unlike modern airliners that are basically constant diameter tubes, the Connie had a sculpted body, with not a single adjoining rib that was the same diameter as the next. This gave her a very lithe shape that no current airliner can match. Its not just your imagination, she had a body to kill for.

And they wondered why they went bankrupt, my stepdad was a captain for EAL, flew with them for 35 years. He flew a lot of 727's and finished his career on the A300. EAL is back in business as a charter airline, they have two 737-600's or at least that's what they look like, they could be 400's though not that familiar with the type to distinguish them while driving past the airport at 40MPH and just getting a short glimpse.

Nice Conni. I use to dream of R/C Ships like this when the Conni was flying all over the USA. Thanks. Terry&thepirates

I actually have flown in both versions. MAC and TWA. And seen the Navy ELINT version, the EC-121.

Memories... At age 4 (1960), I used to climb the tree in our front yard to watch these beautiful babies fly out of LAX. When at age 16, I drove to the old neighborhood to find all of the homes marked condemned, due to what would become what is now the northenmost LAX runway. I loved those Connies!

nice slo-mo at end, gives it a touch of realism. I believe there is a full size flying Connie based on East coast of Australia, South of Sydney.

Back in the late 1950's we were stationed in Spain (dad was in the USAF) and when returning to the US, we flew in a Connie from Portugal to NYC. Even though I was about 4 years old, I never forgot that trip. Hitting those "air pockets" (stomach felt like it was coming up to your throat), flying right over the cloud's (I thought we were "skating" over snow at the time) and, of course, the sound of those engines. We made a brief stop at some island (not sure which) for refueling. Unforgettable trip!

Great to see modelled *two* of my favourite airliners on the ramp - the Super Constellation, and just behind, the Vickers VC10. Liked the flight of the Constellation - demonstrating a very well-finished machine.
