    You’re right about owning “essential pieces “ that you don’t really love. You won’t get as much wear out of them. It’s better to get pieces you love than those you think you should own because others said so.

      Or because it's on sale or secondhand, in my case!

      1000% so true. But some people just dont get it and do it anyways -.-😂

      So true! I’ve fallen victim to buying things because they’re ‘essential’ too many times ❤️

    I’m from Austria where we have lots of traditional folk clothing and one thing I can never get enough of is traditional Loden coats! They are by default cut in a more roomy oversize shape and thus work wonderfully in the colder months for layering! Loden is also a fabric that works amazingly against the cold without being too thick.

    Every time you do a comparaison with what you wouldn't wear it's always my preferred choice 😄 I love how thought through your videos are and how they inspire me to think about my own wardrobe

      HAHA! To be fair, I do actually like the items I showed that are not my most worn. I like them but maybe don’t wear them as often as the other. I think it’s so good to know what we like and I esp LOVE when everyone has a different pick ❤️🥰

    I love those sort of broderie anglaise tops too. Subtle detail without extra colours and still a relatively flat piece that won't look bumpy when out underneath anything! The pointelle knitwear is great too! Perfect for transitional weather!

    This lovely blouse you wear gives me Edwardian lacedress vibes. I really have to look if something like this exists in my preferred colour pallette and if so, if i actually like it.

    Great format of video; what you like versus what you stay away from. And, I totally relate to he sleeve length being so important. Another awesome video!

    Hi Helen, new-ish sub to your channel and really enjoyed this video. I'm pretty much opposite of you in many ways which would show in our styles: I live in colder climate (Canada), I work a 9-5 where I manage a large group of professionals and therefore I dress business formal, also body-wise (and since you know of Kibbe) I'm a soft dramatic; tall and curvy. But I still get so much inspiration and many good tips from you which I think speaks volume to the high quality of your contents.
    Keep it up

    I love your fisherman's sandals and most of your footwear actually. I think I have the same issues as you with not suiting dainty shoes and wanting to be able to walk, but still find a shoe that looks nice.

      I’m always on the lookout for shoes that I can actually walk a lot in but still look nice 🥰 thank you, I’ve been very impressed by them recently

    I'm in love with The Classic Coat by The Curated! Great tip about sizing two sizes up, which I heard a fashion stylist recommend as well. I saw your other videos and have decided to get the bone color because when I did my color analysis in Korea I found out I am a bright cool summer.

    Great tips! I stopped trying to force the "must own essentials" after i realized that i just hate white collared shirts. I hate the stiff cotton kind and I find them uncomfortable and frumpy no matter what I do, and the kind with soft chiffon / silk material always have terrible static cling in my climate. At the end of the day, essentials should just be what looks good and works for you!

    Thank you for this video!
    For the Curated coat, did you have to shorten the sleeves at all?

  • @33Jenesis
    @33Jenesis ปีที่แล้ว

    I like shirts but I need collar to be open and flat (short neck problem). I even sew the collar to keep it flat :)
    You always have thoughtful comments about garment shoes and bags. Although they are tailored to your body and taste, thought process applies to everyone when deciding what to wear.

    Helen, what is something we need to take into consideration so that boots/booties dont hurt us on the back of the heel? Chelsea boots, booties and regular boots always hurt me. Is it because of the way I walk? Ill fit?

    ah both the lace-up and pointy boots you linked return errors for me in the US (perhaps they are only available in AU/NZ?) Could you please do an updated shoes collection with some alts, and perhaps a hair tutorial?

    Hi! I like the fisherman sandal (sparrow). I usually wear 5-5.5. Do you recommend sizing down to 4-4.5? thank you

    Great tips Helen! Thanks for sharing ❤I couldn't agree more on the shoe tip 😊 I am currently rebuilding my wardrobe, and it is so important to find your own style and the colours that are working for myself. A co-ord set is the best purchase I have made which is so versetile. I am also buying clothes with a long lasting material which really makes a huge difference. Regarding jackets, from my experience, it is not an easy one, bomber jackets are a no go for me so maybe the Betty cardigan will do the trick.

    I'm thinking about getting the coat, but I'm worried that a L size will swallow me. I'm usually a small. I like a looser look but not too much. Do you still recommend that I get a L?

    • @DailyHelenJ
      @DailyHelenJ  ปีที่แล้ว

      My friend is a size S and she got a L. She’s taller than me, about 168cm and it’s perfect. If you’re more petite and worried about fit, you can also go for M for a more classic fit. I would decide based on height. If you’re 5’4 163 cm ish or taller I think a L would be fine, otherwise maybe try a M xx
