Thank you everyone who participated in this video. 🙏🏻 And thank you Angelo, you made a remark that impacted me. About how an awakening that occurs when there is a lot of trauma , can be highly destabilizing. Well, despite years of severe traumatic abuse, I had what you term a “Kensho” awakening. And it was exactly as you said. Highly destabilizing. I tried explaining what had occurred to my family… but they are highly conservative Christian and they all disowned/excommunicated me. Will not even speak to me to this day, 5 years later. Lost my house. Lost my fiancé and access to my children. Everyone thought I was crazy, the more I tried to explain, the crazier I sounded. My entire life fell apart. I thought I did something wrong when the experience of “no-self” ended. And this rush of deeply painful stuff rushed up into my chest and head. It has been 5 years and things have improved. Way more stable. I don’t know why, but hearing you say what you said released something inside. There is so much resistance to feeling the “bad”. And there seems to be so much of it. So it is such a relief when it shifts, or moves. Thank you 🙏🏻
I've had many awakenings. But these last few weeks have been transformative.Frustration played a role.I got so frustrated being frustrated, that i put my foot down and said,no more.
Gee you do a great job of bringing different voices to the channel. A different voice, different emphasis, different way of articulating ideas. It’s so helpful. Another great guest speaker, they are all great! Thank you.
I love every time I see Jennifer in your videos 🙏🏼 Her presence and authenticity and heart are palpable in every interaction ♥️ Jennifer, thank you for your sharing and insights!
I really had to let go of all my connection to videos and even meditations. I had to really arrive at a point of not caring about any of this. When I found my way back, I realized that I had also let go of were other big fixations and stories. One day I realized they were gone.
thanks, it's cool to hear about how the group mind thing is a tricky aspect for people, and the encouragment for exploring beliefs and going deep into things.
Thanks Angelo and Robert. So I managed to sit for an hour today. Haven´t been able to sit for a long time so it felt really really good. I felt such peace the entire day afterwards. Ebbs and flows Oh and would you or anyone in here recommend Daniel ingrams work? I´m considering listening to his book " Mastering the core teachings of the Buddha" It looks interesting. I´ve felt the urge to finally commit and dive deeper into this so it might be a good start for me? Maybe someone in here have read it? Thanks ❤
I wanna buy your book of course but I´ll have to wait a little longer so I can afford it. This could be a good substitute while I wait. Since It´s available for free online.
Hey Naax, I wrote a comment but now i can't see it anymore. I will summarize it quickly. Daniel is great, I can recommend his book and podcasts with him. He's very enthusiastic about the Dharma and also quite technical. He often goes into great detail. That's not for everyone but if it clicks it clicks. His main background and framework (especially for his book) is the Theravada tradition and Vipassana. He can talk about other traditions and awakening paths, too though and he always mentions if he's not an expert on something. He also shares a lot of different resources in his book and in most of his interviews.
Hi there, I've read quite a bit of his book and it's good however there is a lot of information and doctrine in it that can be off putting or confusing to some. Its free so definitely check it out if you're inclined but I remember when I first read it I kinda felt confused because of all the information, it almost felt like some of it was unnecessarily complex and can activate the mind. There are some good gems in there though and you don't have to read it front to back, you can skip to specific sections
Did I really say, “F you, dude!” to Angelo on You Tube? 😆 This was fun. Thank you to everyone for your questions and shares. Robert is a gem. You both were really helpful to me. I joined a support group for my particular trauma. Much love. 🥰
I'm not sure how it's even possible not to wake-up for decades if one really wants to. At some point one needs to do a significant amount of retreat time i.e., really isolate from distractions and do the practice relentlessly. For me, it's keeping the pot on stove so it can actually boil and what diverts me is intellectualizing/not practicing/distractions. A lack of direct practice has to be the case for people being at this for a long time. Communities of people form around this stuff and maybe people just get too swept up in the communal/social aspect of it all, talking the talk, playing with the colloquial non-dual language, all becoming another distraction while the ultimate part of being free from dissatisfaction, actually feeling and living more freely, gets lost.
Not really, the social aspect you mentioned can be a big impediment for sure as it can reinforce the "spiritual/seeker" identity. However, it's not necessary for everyone to do intense practice or retreat for awakening. It may be necessary for some and for others it might just happen spontaneously but if you have been at it for a while, then it's probably a good idea to try something else
Maybe there is nothing to get but when I watched the video at some point I was asking myself if EVERYTHING is a story? Surely not... Like I clearly just watched a youtube video, and I'm clearly typing right now. How could this be a story or something untrue? Maybe I misunderstood the point lol
continue exploring these things and you will be surprised! like, your typing example, is it really you that's doing the typing? or is perhaps the typing just happening? really examine it and really pay attention to it. Are you really consciously choosing the way that your fingers move? Are you really consciously choosing which words to write? Are you really consciously choosing what message to convey? And if you have any thoughts about this subject itself, arguing about whether you really are doing this or not, are you choosing any of these thoughts either? Or is perhaps this doubt/arguing also just happening spontaneously and of its own accord without anybody's will? and if my comment evokes any particular thoughts into you, are any of these thoughts thoughts that you choose to have? What really is under your control and what isn't? And do you even have to create this distinction in the first place?
@@pluckpack Oh for sure! Everything is happening automatically and there is not a doer. I was just speaking in the relative sense, the body was doing the above. Now that these things happened a day ago I can accept that they may have never happened at all and that the memory is a story. However now that I am, there is just typing so how could that be a story?
@@WasguckstdudieURlan I see! In that case I will say two things! First one is-- if you zoom in closer in your direct experience you will realize that to even say that "typing is happening" is itself a very gross oversimplification of what is actually happening. You can look for "typing" but you will only really find things like a pulsation on your forehead, a slight weight on your fingers, a slight pull on your arms, etc. "Typing" doesn't actually exist in your direct experience. It only exists as a added on thought/story, in other words, it's just a crude interpretation of reality. As for the second thing I would like to say-- why do you feel the need to categorize things into stories/non stories? Can you see that this itself is just another attempt to divide reality into mental made categories? It's just another thought that you can let go of.
@@pluckpack i guess I am still very mind identified, which is why, when considering your second question, a thought appeared saying that this is very trivial, as in „couldn’t you then say everything is just mental made categories?“ which probably is the point you are making? Don’t know why but my mind seems to have this arrogance of not wanting to look because „it’s trivial“ maybe that is just another defense mechanism of the ego? Anyway appreciate your comments, may you experience eternal happiness kind stranger 🙏
@@WasguckstdudieURlan you are welcome!🥳 Just to be extra clear, not everything is a story or a mind made category-- your direct experience of reality for instance is beyond any of that. It's just that trying to understand what is mind made and what isn't through the mind (which felt to me what you were unconsciously doing) is itself a mental process and would lead you astray. keep watching Angelo's stuff and you are going to be just fine!

The internal story of “I am not yet awakened”. Is that not just a commitment in itself? As a man thinketh, so shall he become.
Robert is cool!
