      The first time i knew there was car racing in the world was during my many visits to the UK. With Mom Starting at 2 years old! Remember by coincidence one Saturday or sunday when i was 5 or 6 watching tv in the hotel room and there it was! A rally cross! I cought the bug there and then.It was the first time my mom left me alone as a kid as i refused to go shopping with her as i was plastered to the tv.

    I was there that day, I was only 7, 43 now, I think it was the 8th December. Used to love that meeting

    A golden era for Rallycross. The start of the RS200/ Metro 6R4 evolution. Great times. 👍🏻

      Middle engined cars ruined this motorsoprt for good because they're so ugly. That horrible Lancia was the ugliest of them all!

    great stuff mate. was six when i saw this on a tiny telly in a Bristol hotel when i was a six year old little shit. this brought me right back to the heavy chocolate cake the sis got for her bday and the purple and yellow crap rollerskates the parents bought us. Can picture it all again. Thank u for refreshing my best memories from childhood, when my parent gave half a shit

    Wow, the long wheelbase 10v Quattro looking relativey relaxed while beating RS200e2 and others. The setup of the car must have been spot on🏁

      Probably the most advanced of the A2 Quattro’s back then. Very light. Sure it was 20 v

      @@barriemorris2829 My initial thought was 20v but in one segment when I heard the engine clearly it sounded like a 10v.

      @@Christian-rj2yc you could be right. I’ll have a check in the programme. I went to this event. Weather was so bad.
      A lot of the group B cars were collected just before the event straight after the RAC rally, so all still in rally trim. Accept ions bring Rennison and Gollop who had them a bit earlier in the year.

    Wonderful! Observing the cars behaviors,and extensively tested both.I think the Audi was on Radials while the others were on Crossply tires.

    • @SharonD369
      @SharonD369 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Crossply tyres in 1986 ? Most definitely Radials across the field. 5.38 the RS 200 is definitely sporting Radials.

    • @Barkevshadian
      @Barkevshadian 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SharonD369 Avon and Dunlop Rally cross tires are crossply. Only lately they introduced radials to complement the crossply they still offer. Back in the 80s. Michelin and pirelli were starting to offer radial comp tires.

    • @SharonD369
      @SharonD369 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Barkevshadian There was definitely no crossply tyres in 1986 and i know this as my father’s tyre company used to supply race tyres for many events. You don’t use inferior equipment for championship events that’s for sure, crossply tyres on an Ford RS 200 or even an X Track ..... come on this is 1986 not 1976.

      Audis are known for understeer, even the group b ones, which is why they shortened them to make the sport quattro, the engines are still on op of the front wheels though, so they wont be as sideways

    • @Barkevshadian
      @Barkevshadian 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sneekeruk its a rare sight for an audi to beat the zakspeed ford,50/50 weight distribution, 6r4 and rs200 43/57 weight distribution! The Arnesson and Mavropolous Audis were very loose and understeery compared to this one! Hence my surprise of how composed the winners quattro was!

    Tire and suspension tech must have improved a shit ton during that year. The conditions look about as bad as the 85 gp but they look like they're going twice as fast

    aussie ⤵️ Unfortunately the weather for the GP’s was never that great due to it being in December but made for one hell of a weekend with class entries, granted not barbecue weather but staunch fans loved it. I think the video has been altered to improve quality but not always better looks to have been sharpened? but preserves it for the future. Good to see this all resurfacing as the channel I had got closed down hey ho!

      Xtrac are still very much one of the leaders in advanced transmission technology. Most production and Motorsport car 4wd systems have some involvement from Xtrac. The first Schanche Xtrac Zackspeed Gartrac car was very much the calling card for Mike Endeans expertise.
