For the concern on what MSFS 2024 will be like with a slow internet connection, you actually got that with the press event. The bandwidth at that particular lodge at the Grand Canyon was only 12 Mb/s, so it was basically the minimum spec internet.
An instrument rating is not required for night flight, however in reality it is nearly IFR. You will be required to learn to fly at night before being granted a private pilot certificate. Commercial pilot certificate or instrument rating are not required for night flight. You will also be required to have some "under the hood" IFR training as part of training for a private pilot certificate.
Unless it’s changed recently night flying is not taught as part of the PPL syllabus in my part of the world,night vFR is a seperate rating not required
I started flight training in 1971 and did commercial after private and then Instrument. After that was CFI then CFII. After start full time instructing I finished the Multi-engine then MEI. Night currency before instrument is normal. An instrument rating is not required for night flight. There is a high performance (higher horsepower) endorsement and then a complex airplane endorsement (retractable gear and a controllable pitch propeller). There is also a night flight time requirement for private pilot rating. If you are flying on an IFR flight plan you will talk to ATC.
When I did my Night Rating, we did a fair amount of instrument flying. The nice thing is that the dual hours logged count towards your Intrument rating. Two points that stand out for me as to why instrument flying is required is that after rotation of the aircraft on take-off, you lose visual reference of the runway, so you rely partially on instruments. In places in rural areas and with no moonlight, this becomes more IFR-like. Another reason is that if you fly over a lake where the stars are reflecting on the water, your brain gets confused on what is up or down. By just glancing at the instruments, you regain your special awareness. Just 2 examples.
Can't speak for anywhere else but in Australia night VFR required you to navigate by reference to the ground. if you can't do that you are in breach of your night vfr rating.
Same here. And I'm assuming it won't be perfect initially, but I just want to be along for the ride. MSFS 2020 was such an awesome experience when it came out.. it really changed the entire landscape for flight simming. There's a good chance that 2024 will do the same, albeit to a lesser extent. Already MSFS 2020 looks really dated after having seen what 2024 can do :)
RE: your question about instrument rating after commercial pilot, that is the path I took after getting my private license. However, most people do not opt for the expense of a commercial pilot's license unless they plan to put it to use. One thing I will say about a commercial pilot certificate, it teaches advanced training in aircraft handling, flight performance and accuracy.
I remember from a previous dev stream that Seb said that they actually turn down the effect of turbulence on the aircraft by default because it's annoying. There's a setting under Assistance options>pilot>

In real life you get your instrument rating before commercial because the time spent training for instrument builds up towards the 250 hours you need for commercial. It’s just more efficient and cost effective. Instrument rating is not required for your commercial cert, but you are really limited with what you can do and basically not hire able. I think the way they have it set up here is fine for the sim. Since real money and hours are not a factor. Plus the commercial checkeide is really just a complex set of VFR maneuvers. For an average simmer learning how to make the plane go up and down and then jumping into instrument could be overwhelming/ boring
@@benjaminwilliams2359 in the U.S. you can not fly passengers for hire over 50 nm or at night unless you have your instrument rating. Also part 61 requires time building and you need more time built you for commercial than instrument. So with all of that the typical path in the US is private instrument than commercial.
Years ago when I got my PPL the commercial was the next step and I flown numerous times at night without my instrument rating. I believe Canada requires a FR rating to fly at night.
One person has stated that there was a bug or glitch causing excessive brightness apparently. Also there is a great video of a run through the Grand Canyon with the A10 and it shows how violent and rough the turbulence is. It is very wierd all the footage shown really has no turbulence or anything like that…maybe it was a setting in the weather?
I am quite certain you will be able to turn the Walkaround element off or at least skip it. I would be shocked if it’s a mandatory task. Having said that I can’t see how this makes it feel like a game. On the contrary it adds a paramount element/procedure of a pilot’s total flight routine. Knowing where and what to look for during a walk around will teach you more about the technical aspect of the aircraft which in turn make you a better pilot. The best airline pilots I have met in aviation happened to be the tech curious and savvy (usually ex air force). The ones who would study the aircraft from an engineering point of view as well, ask loads of tech questions and try to UNDERSTAND the faults more than just follow manuals and what the mechanic will say. Many of them are some form of mechanics outside work too.
Good video as always. I'm gonna give FS 2024 a 6 to 8 month buffer like I've always done with any new simulator in the past. IE: Going from FS98 to FS2K, FS9 to FSX, P3D V3 to P3D V4, etc. That little bit of extra time means I'm not having to be a paying beta tester for 6 to 8 months trying to wrap my head around why my massive collection of expensive payware scenery and aircraft isn't playing well in the new simulator, I'll let all the devs catch up with their upgrades and patches. Over the last year I've finally got a perfectly stable FS 2020 running smooth as silk at max settings and superb ground imagery by running the 'MSFS Map Enhancement' utility with the 'Bing Latest Version' map stream selected and the 'Enable High LOD' box checked. Everything in MSFS 2020 looks stunning while at the same time the sim is 100 percent stable. Thanks for another great video. :)
Those slalom gates, and click points you'll be able to turn all that stuff off... I'd be EXTREMELY surprised if you couldn't. Especially the stuff that already exists in 2020. You should KNOW that by the virtue you have them turned off already in 2020. Also, that Cub was bouncing from the wind not the stick, the stick only moved side to side, never in a way to get that bounce factor, and its also very likely in these previews they have the wind and so on turned down with a weather pre-set (which have like 5 knots, tops), or set the turbulence down low. I feel like you really need to go watch some of the other previews and interviews and see what those that got to use it have to say, because the demonstrations about the wind and so on is something that has been gone into about how it will impact your flying. I'm curious about the company side of things, like if you can hire workers and so on... or if its just purely solo operator, which is gona be really weird for when you get into the larger airliners.
For now I just hope that I can set a config that looks a little better than 2020 with better performance - especially in VR. Taking advantage of multithreading and proper DX12 and FFR...
I'm not too concerned about the POI's and frames etc in the missions. We saw the same in the current version in the beginning, and I will be really surprised if we can't turn that off. The flight model are also promised to be vastly improved, so I choose to belive that. The footage here didn't blow me away, but I've seen some other videos that I feel present the scenery in a much better way. But I guess we will get the answers on November 19th and beyond.🤔😏
You DO need to have your IFR rating to have a CPL and defensibly if you want an ATP. Night does come before IFR its kind of intermingled if I'm remembering correctly, but hey i was barley a student pilot before my vision went to crap.
You can get commercial without a instrument. Your just not employable. My rating experience. 1. Private pilot with taildragger endorsement and "Complex". In Cherokee, Cub, and Arrow. 2. Instrument. C-172 3. Commercial and CFI c-172 3.5 worked as a CFI. 4. turbine in PC-6 tail dragger. Checked in a Cessna caravan. 4.5 First non-CFI job as a bush pilot in Africa in a PC-6 and Caravan.
I haven't had a flight sim. since MSFSX so, i wont have the problems you will. My main concern is what do I need in my computer: hard drive capacity and Rom size, stuff like that.

2:45 look at the ground it’s way too dark. I’ve been on many flights with similar cloud cover and it’s not basically nighttime on the ground with broken cloud. This is immersion breaking IMHO.

I think adding these walk-around features further underline that this software is meant as a serious "simulating" as walk-arounds are a crucial part of being a pilot. I get what you are saying and I also want those highlights to be turned off for the visual immersion. I just think these visual references have nothing to do with the actual functionality of the software, the aircraft and the simulation and how you should operate the aircraft itself. I am sure that no matter if these highlights can be turned off or not, should third parties include this walk-around, they will most probably include them without the highlighting. But I guess we can all agree that having this feature, among all the other additions, actually contribute to the realism of flying and operating an aircraft rather than take away from it 😉

I think you probably would be able to run 2024 just as fine as 2020 if you keep more or less the same visual fidelity (ultra vs ultra, high vs high, etc..). Raytracing might be a huge performance hog but we'll see. People that were CPU limited in 2020 might even see a bit of an improvement in 2024, considering the better use of multi-threading. But I still think 2024 will probably run about the same as 2020, if you keep more or less the same graphical profile and don't crank things up to Ultra if you were using 2020 at High for example.
I am not an PC expert, and i have one question, sorry to ask here. I have seen the PC specs to play msfs2024, i have an rtx 4070ti with ryzen 7 7800x3d and 32gb of ram ddr5 at 6000mhz, do you think that i can play at least with decent graphics? As i said, i am not expert in PC hardware and specs
Unknown at this time. While the minimum, recommended and top specs were specified, I have not seen anything that links particular specs to things like graphics/quality setting in the sim, resolution or frame rates. I suspect it is going to be a pot luck for individual computers with lots of testing with settings to find the sweet spot for your particular computer.

Again, this is someone else's content we are viewing here. I questioned OverKill on the released content of BEAM Eye Tracker. It's been covered, there really is nothing new about it. Just feels like filled content. I myself am unsubscribing to this channel. It really has no value to me any longer, it's unfortunate. If you put out 6 videos in a week, it's to fill content. 12 MB/s would be a 100 Mbps connection and so above the recommended specs.

I'm cautiously optimistic. At some point we won't have a choice but to switch. It'll be in beta for the 1st 6 - 12 months just as MSFS was.

Most of my VFR flight was at night... I loved flying at night!

Testers seem to be quite happy with the flight model - not XP-level but better than 2020. I'd stay calm about this for now.
Yeah these are obviously the training missions. The gates exist just like in MSFS2020. I don't think that should be a real concern

I used to enjoy this channel myself. Always looked forward to the content. It feels like stuff is getting pushed out, just to push stuff out to stay relevant. Again, this is someone else's content we are viewing here. I questioned OverKill on the released content of BEAM Eye Tracker. It's been covered, there really is nothing new about it. Just feels like filled content. I myself am unsubscribing to this channel. It really has no value to me any longer, it's unfortunate. If you put out 6 videos in a week, it's to fill content. Quality, not Quantity is what people want. Over and out, had enough. A thank you for what OverKill did provide that had meaning. Now it's just for views and existence, and those are dropping as well.
@@mikevadnais7722 Wow... to each their own and I respect your feelings on the matter. However, If you've been with my channel for as long as you say then you would know that up until VERY recently my content schedule was 1 a DAY and has been for years!
As far as the Beam video, the way the TH-cam algorithm works basically causes old videos to get buried and unpublished once the views on them slows to a crawl. Since that video, my link alone has sold another 55 copies of the software. That means there are many people who were unaware of the software.
I often to refreshes of videos after they've been buried and I notice the views cease. Same with my SPADnext videos.
The content you witnessed and once again speak as to "someone else's" is NOT. It is a source distributed by Microsoft FOR THIS PURPOSE.
I'm sorry you feel as though my content is no longer of value to you and I truly appreciate the time you spent with me in my videos. Though, I feel your attack on my integrity and purpose were unjustified and so I felt the need to state this out.
I don't do this for views and never have. I do this because I have a passion for it. I do it because I enjoy speaking to this and giving my thoughts and opinions. I truly hope I can publish content in the future that you will find useful and helpful but at the end of the day I do this for the engagement and I do it because it's fun and exciting for me. As a single father of 3 girls lol... I don't get to do many things that I truly love and TH-cam gives me a chance to share this experience, addons, tools, software, and as I said my thoughts with like minded people. ( My girls find it boring as hell lol )

I've never heard anything said about how the program uses cores other than it does use them.
