Your are not right - the construction project of Konin part in Poland is not 5 year long. It is actually 2 years. The trains wil not accelarate 2 minutes only but on the whole distance between Poznan and Warsaw they will reach to 30 min saving and target after the completion of the whole works will be 50 min. the project consists, among others, re-building of 15 bridges, 10 viaducts and 366 km of railway tracks etc. There is no corruption and "crime". Poland is not Russia. The whole project wil be finished in a about a year. The whole project is about 2bn PLN (465 mn EUR)

Corruption at many public investitions was in the past decades, especially in the 90s and in the 2000s, in fact a big problem in Poland. But the number of such cases decreased in the past few years. And in the case of the modernisation of the Warsaw-Poznań main line the main problem was rather the catastrophal planning process than corruption. There was no clear strategy for the development of the rail system in contrast to the development of expressways. This line was modernised in the 90s, however many things were not touched. After the access to the EU there was the possibility of fundings and there the idea of the further modernisation was birth. But such projects has a clear time window and because of the slow planning process, very typical for PKP PLK, there was the risk that funds could be lost and should be returned, which seemed to be very embarrassing. Hence the time pressure there were many mistakes taken, which delayed the construction process. And to spend the remaining funds they changed sections that were in a pretty good condition.
Meanwhile was an idea to build a HSR line from Warsaw to Poznań and Wrocław via Łódź and this project will finally start in the next decade. There were planned bankruptcies of some sub-suppliers, but this influence was pretty small than this whole planning mess.

I happened to travel with some delayed trains in Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway but even much more were on schedule . So i think the remark at 3:07 is unnecessary (see also 12:50) . By the way, the most severe delay was handled great by danisch railways DSB, they called me a taxi to the third from last station before my final destination and paid for the 60km taxi ride, so that i could reach my ferry on time.

I think that some corruption could take place in the construction of the railway in Poland, but that is not a serious problem. Bigger one is that PKP is totally ineffective and archaic structure with terrbile management. Assuming that every delay in construction is due to the "corruption and crime" is oversimplifying. You use some stereotypical cliche. Polish insfrastructural investments have more problems with bureauocracy than corruption. Which is weird when you compare it to the public transport in Polish cities that usually works preety well.

A very interesting and well presented vid ; there is a lot of information about the route and the trains that are encountered . The train itself is very sleek , modern and well maintained . From what I saw it is capable of doing a good sprint .But unfortunately if what you say is right it is given stepmotherly treatment by the respective handling operators in the countries through which it travels .Wonder how long these sleeper trains can hold their own against the thrift airlines .Maybe I'll pack my own meal .

I think that the reason why the interconnecting gangway doors are so heavy and hard to open is probably down to fire safety regulations to restrict the spread of fire.

    Hello
    A very interesting journey told.
On the Polish railway tracks, repairs and renovations.
The route of your train is also different.
During the renovation of the E20 Poznań-Konin-Warsaw route, the entire railway route was closed.
From June 9, along with the entry into force of the new timetable, trains from Poznań to Warsaw will again drive along the old route, instead of detours through Gniezno and Inowrocław.
Thank you for a great trip around Europe.
I am waiting for the next episodes.

"Crime and corruption always delay public projects in Poland" - you made me smile. Modernization which started in 2017 main goal was to increase capacity (cargo trains, local and fast use E20 line) not to increase the speed, the final goal is to set 200 km/h on the line between Poznan and Warsaw. Why there was a detour on that time? Because both tracks in both directions had to be closed because there was a necessity to improve hub stations on the line like Kutno and Lowicz + 200 road crossing had to he replaced. Moreover it's one of the busiesit railways in Poland and main route for cargo shipments from Belarus to Germany and further.

I have used this train to and from Minsk several times now, it is far quicker to get to Berlin from my local station in UK on high speed trains, then Talgo from Berlin to Minsk. There seems to be a real issue with lateness on this service. The Torun diversion is ridiculous and adds too much time to an already long distance journey. I realise the main line through to Waszawa from the west is being modernised, surly PKP can path the train through the original route. There is also heavy reconstruction at Terespol, will they detach the electric loco there and put on a diesel and send the train into Belarus over the northern border bridge adding more time. I do hope not. They need to make this service more efficient, it is a great service but the inefficiency will kill it, and i never would like to see that happen. This is one of those great rail services of Europe, we need to ensure it stays that way.

Just out of curiosity, which of the following two ladies are better in terms of tolerability? "ба́бушка" (Babushka) or "Schön Oma"? :-)

Shayan Siddiquie Not many people have to travel by train at night... We have high speed trains and it’s much faster (and also cheaper) to take it than EuroNight trains... During peak hours the stations are getting very busy

РЖД за последние годы стала очень крутой компанией. Вообще за последние два десятилетия Россия сильно изменилась в лучшую сторону.

While in Germany, does the train pass the "Fairytale" Castle-that castle that was an inspiration for Walt Disney's Cinderella Animated Movie.Or is the castle off route because of being located in another part of Germany?

Ludwig's castle, Neuschwanstein, is located way south in Bavaria.

    Hello - quick questions:
    - how much time it takes to travel from Warsaw to Almaty - one way?
    - it is same train with same conditions : if no, where you need to change ?
    - how much the ticket(s) cost from Warsaw to Almaty - one way?
    - what are the expenses necessary for 2 people while in train (food, drinks, showers (if they have)) ? one way
    Thank you !
    Very beautiful trip !
