I’m glad underoath had two eras because in both they had amazing musicianship and in both they were revolutionary. No one was mixing hardcore and black metal back in 99 and no one thought it was possible to blend post hardcore with post metal a la isis in 2006. Thank you!
Damn this footage is gold! Not a whole lot of footage out there of Underoath in the "Cries of the Past" era. Pretty interesting opening song too. Kind of shows what direction they may have gone if Corey stayed with them. R.I.P to that dude. He was an amazing musician and a great guy.
@@violetagardenia Yeah same, i also used to chat with him on Facebook and it he was a nice dude and was always happy to answer any questions i had about his time in the band. He actually had a new project in the works called The Last which was had him on Guitar and lead vocals and had some of the members from the Cries of the Past line up. It was some straight up Blackened Death Metal and it sounded sick. Theres a clip of it on one of his TH-cam channels. Pretty sad it likely will never be officially released.
Is this why they went the metalcore route in the next album? Luckily saw them once with Dallas in Philly but that was after Changing of Times so they kind of did an act of depression blend song and played cries of the past and the last I believe then all new stuff
This first song is interesting. It's not on cries of the past nor does it have a name. I've heard them play this on another video of them playing near a christmas tree in a living room, perhaps a Christmas 2000 video. This song should've been released as an EP before and or after Corey left.
What is the first song? Anyone? I'm thinking it's an unreleased song cause i know Under oath had some made up intro songs and outro songs when they played back then and i think this is one cause i don't recognized this song. Thanks if anyone knows.

this is more than hardcore this is metallic hardcore (metalcore) with black metal influence

Cannot believe there is a post- cries of the past unreleased track here. It’s the first song, unreal how good it is too.

It might have been an unreleased song or a cover of some sorts.
