I bought my first baritone saxophone 10 years ago for $1500 after renting it for 6 months. The horn is a vintage 1960s King Zephyr. It has a gold lacquered body with silver plated keys.
Loving the bari dude, seems to be modeled after a nice Yanigasawa horn and I just love that color contrast in the plating between the keys and the body!
Good morning bro l live in Guyana South America. I am sixty four years old an l only acquired professional horns one year ago.Any young person would get support from music lovers. Keep practising you will get better. Best of luck buddy.
I have wanted to play bari sax for a while know I just love the deep melow sound unlike my alto it has the melo sound but is want to get those deep notes and you have inspired me to start saving up for a bari! thanks.
hey I have a Bari sax do you know if you can wash it and how? I have some Yamaha one and play it for jazz also how do I not chip the reeds? (I play oboe for concert band) so I don’t know how to not chip reeds
No, no. Do NOT wash it. It will absolutely ruin the pads. Buy a microfiber cloth and gently polish it. If it’s green like a lot of school baris, there’s nothing you can do, sadly. As for reeds, you just have to be careful with them. Make sure you don’t place your teeth on them, be careful with the ligature, and be careful putting it in its case. It’s not like it’s made of glass or anything, but the tip is .0201 inches thick for a tenor reed. If you have any more questions, ask away.
Thanks for the comment! To do a full wash on a saxophone, you’d need to take it to a technician who has the specific machine for washing them, but you can get a polishing cloth to wipe it down after using it as part of a maintenance kit. As for not chipping reeds, I’d say just handle them like gold and be careful when approaching the mouthpiece
As a Bari sax player, I was happy to hear him play the Lucky Chops Funkytown/I Feel Good and Danza 2016
That bari sax was clean bro, ur a good sax player.
Thanks man! That's nice to hear given I have an audition soon. 😬
