Giving stretch mark cream to a woman who gave birth to their oldest child is insane. A lot of women do through not liking their bodies for months after delivering a baby and gifting them stretch mark cream just reinforces the idea of them not being pretty enough
This is the exact reason. Men will never understand the mental issues we go through because our bodies changed so drastically. Most of us eventually accept it after a while but being gifted stretch mark cream would have sent me in a tizzy.

it like handing her a bucket and mop on her birthday all gift wrapped. That's the comparison, James.
Anytime you get anyone an appearance altering gift, without them having mentioned it’s something they want, it’s RUDE. Its like telling them what to be insecure about. “Hey I know you haven’t said anything but i think you should work on this cause I find it ugly” is what it comes off as

Just to clarify, the Pope does not speak for all Christians. He only speaks on behalf of Catholics. This was a very interesting discussion none the less.
Yeah, this was not their best informed segment.
1 Timothy 3:15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
Romans 16:17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
The Pope and the Church speak for all Christians who respect the Word of God.
No the pope may speak in the name of Jesus but what he says contradicts the Bible
@@feofilakt9877that's like saying the Christianity orgined from Rome, where Catholics orgined. Christianity existed long before the Roman empire. And also treat The Word as scriptures, scripts written by different people. Romans was clearly written by the Romans. They don't speak for Peter, nor John nor Timothy. The Pope holds value in the Catholic Church only, other churches would not care less if he died tomorrow. I went to a Catholic school, my grandmother is Anglican, I'm pentecostal. All different segments of Christianity with very different practices within and outside the church. Catholics pray to Mary, whilst in some segments that is deemed blasphemous. I'm just saying that to treat one segment as the pinaccle of Christianity is ignorant and somewhat offensive. It's sad because the wrong doings of Catholic priests(not in this scenario) are often put towards all Christians as Catholicism is very media rises. Do research first
@@feofilakt9877the Protestant movement went against the Catholic Church which is why you have Protestants and Catholics. There are thousands of Protestant based religion that does not go with the Catholicism. As a matter of fact, many vehemently go against the Catholic Church. I am a Christian and the Pope most definitely does not speak for me or my religion.

@@ATeamFan007 post partum depression can't be cured with stretchmark cream, how patronising
@ATeamFan007 No, not all do, and if they do, do you think gifting a cream (that doesn't work) to a severely depressed woman who's already struggling with body image is going to help? or is she going to see it as a slap in that face? 6:48 story aside this podcast is becoming a humble reminder for me to appreciate the cultures i grew up around. im east African and women in my culture and where i grew (middle east) are celebrated when they give birth and drenched in gold and finical support from their community. huge dinners are held for neighbors and loved ones or charity is given out to the less fortunate to celebrate the birth. this is the bare minimum standard too, others who are wealthier hire help for the women for the first 40 days after her birth. not to be dramatic but i had goosebumps when i heard their reaction LOOL 😭😭😭 girls please run the other way when you hear these types of jokes STAND UPPP
As a fellow East African I absolutely agree with you ❤ for 40 days you’re so well taken care of and spoiled, I love our cultures.
RIGHTTTT I'm middle eastern too and whew chile.....
We literally sacrficie an animal in hour and everyone legit everyone gifts the family and wife and for 40 days too, she has instant support. This is so weird
Loveeee this! I need to marry an East African man 🙌🏿
I feel like so many cultures around the world do, have done, or did this, and in the west we're just so severed from the appreciation of life and community and women are so highly disregarded that it just sounds outlandish and over the top instead of normal or instead of thinking that birth should.be celebrated and especially celebrated over the top. It appreciates the woman and her having just given BIRTH and it also celebrates the life of the person that was born. Don't we all deserve to be lavishly cherished?
This is a message directly to James. If your woman spends 9 almost 10 months creating a baby in her body goes through bloating morning sickness possibly losing her hair possibly losing her teeth gaining skin tags all of the things that come with pregnancy and then she pushes that baby out of her lady parts. All while you have done absolutely nothing but get your rocks off, which is effectively what caused the woman to go through all of that anyway...... You better get her a gift for pushing your baby out of her who-ha. . . A birthing gift is so the man let the woman know that he appreciates everything she just went through over the past year and during delivery. Stretch mark cream is the absolute worst gift. He literally could have gotten her a watermelon and it would have been a better gift than stretch mark cream
You do understand it's your baby too right. You're acting like you're doing him some massive favour.
@@KingChaddi facts
@@KingChaddiwhile yes it’s also his baby too, it’s the fact that he is not enduring the mental, physical, and emotional stress of carrying a child. a birth gift is basically like a “hey thank you for enduring all of that stress and physical pain for the last nine months, so that we can raise a life together. here’s something to let you know i appreciate you.”
@serianethiam4662 if after nine months of me doting on you satisfying all your craving dealing with your mood swings telling you I love you, reassuring you and you still need a gift to know I appreciate you then you ain't the woman for me. Not gonna lie, this episode had me really frustrated. (This is coming from a Christian, raised in a Christian household in The South here in America) The guys obviously don’t actually know what Satanism is, just what it has been portrayed as in popularized media. In my belief, if your trust in God is true then you shouldn’t worry about kids getting told about other religions because they should have CHOICE. Taking away choice is the way that will drive children from paths. Like I truly want to write a whole essay here because I’m truly frustrated on how this really just evolved into a serious conversation without previous facts + research included. I’m gonna end it here bc i’m not trying to do a whole bunch more in yt comments like that 💀
I wanted them to Google the satanic temple so bad the entire conversation. Was frustrating me
Also as a Christian it was annoying me them just rambling on and on about it. Even though i have belief in god i wouldn’t want to tell anyone else anything about their own path with religion. Feeling like they dont understand the free choice that comes alone with it and just also that i think the kids are more making a stand than anything else. But if not so what. They have bible clubs in most schools i dont see this as any different
This!!! Too many people fail to realize that any idea worth its salt will not crumble when questioned or when an alternative is presented. It's the practice of placing certain ideas above questioning and shutting down alternative options that is dangerous because _that's_ how you get cults. This is a problem with all extremist ideology.
I do get why people are extra sensitive about children since they are very easily convinced of ideas (especially when said ideas are presented by a trusted authority figure) but that's all the more reason to not funnel them in any one direction. Parents are some of the worst offenders when it comes to this since many view their children as an extension of themselves instead of the soon to be autonomous people they actually are.

As an American, James’ read on the religion thing was 100% accurate .. and his argument was sound ! Education/exposure does not equate to indoctrination. Education and influence are two different things! 👏🏼
His arguments are based on his lack of understanding of both religion and how religious clubs are ran. His arguments are valid, but they are not accurate or sound, because he doesn’t know about either of them.
This was a great discussion though.
Dude seriously thinks all Christians listen to the pope. Like, he's Catholic. There are literally millions of us Christians who aren't Catholic & some of us literally died protesting Catholicism's myriad abuses. Some of us think the current pope is PSYCHO & apostate.

For context, the birth gift was a trend that appeared after the discussion of mother morality and self care for parents came into question; so I think a lot of people do “push gifts” or “birth gifts” to celebrate the mother for surviving and kinda as a congratulations type thing. The reason I think the stretch mark cream was a crazy gift because in that situation, it wouldn’t feel like something to help maintain her health but rather a unsaid statement that the mother’s body must bounce back or she’ll be undesirable or “wrong.” Now, I know that’s not what he meant (or I hope so) but in a moment where her physical and psychological state is so shaky, that is not a good gift-no less 2 DAYS after.
2. As for the trash news, I loved the conversation! As someone in the US, religion has been a hot topic for centuries. Although we have things in law like separation of church and state, some instances people who seek to manipulate people with religion slip around the system. I honestly think the whole Satan club truly was just a sock-it-to-me moment to the organizations trying to institute things like Christian prayer and bible stories into the school system but it could be folks trying to gain representation of their beliefs; but in all honesty, I don’t think religion of any kind should be instituted in schools for the very reason people can be manipulated or abused by people in positions of power. For example, the documentary on Netflix called Keep Sweet, Pray, and Obey. That whole situation was not a representation of the whole of Christianity, but sadly many of the children (now adults-research the Lost Boys and the testimonies of the survivors) involved in that instance only learned of Christianity from a perverted version of the religion and connect it to the abuse. If they make clubs, it should probably only around high school and up; the only time I can see making concessions of students is like prayer rooms but only with the rules (because I know with beliefs like Islam calls for prayer sessions at specific times of the day).

I absolutely loved the discussion brought on by the Trash News segment. I completely agree with James and his take, which was logical and objective.
First thing in the morning hearing James start off with SKEEEYEEE started my Monday work day jussst right! 😂
Also for the satan club thing, a lot of groups will go to the extreme of naming it a satan club cause there are never issues with Christian or other religious groups. Also a lot of queer aligned groups get pushed out because of religious biases so this is an extreme other side of spectrum situation.
This was one of my favorite trash news - great conversational topic
I wish to fly to the UK one day just to watch your show .. I love you guys 😂
I am so invested in this masterchef now, but I only want to see everything through James’ eyes and commentary😹
Agree with Fuhad when he said that religion doesn’t change. We as people change in the way we perceive and interact with religion, but when it comes down to the core principles, it does not change.
I think there’s many ways a religion can change because i think a part of accepting religion is realizing that not everything written in the spiritual text you read is to be taken so seriously and literally. And i say that as someone who follows the bible
"God's word doesn't change as trends do"
