What is a MOBA?
Multiplayer Online Battle Arenas, or MOBAs for short, originated as a sub-genre of the RTS (Real-Time Strategy) genre. Because of this, in most MOBA games, the player takes control of a single character from the isometric (top-down) view akin to most RTS games. Typically, in MOBA games, a player takes control of a single character on one of two teams. Those players choose characters that all have their own abilities, or “kits”. To win, the players must use a combination of abilities, teamwork, and strategy to not only best their opponent, but destroy the opponents main structures. A bonus to the genre is that most MOBAs are free games, which is definitely a contributing factor of the their massive success. The genre has many titles, the largest of which being Defense of the Ancients (DoTA) and DoTA 2, League of Legends (LoL), and most recently SMITE!
What is SMITE?
SMITE is one of the more recent free MOBA games to enter the fray. In SMITE you don’t just choose a character, you choose a god. You’ll instantly feel an attachment to characters like Thor and Zeus because even if you don’t know the lore behind them, you’ve at least heard their names before! What makes SMITE so immersive is Hi-Rez Studios’ inclusion of historical lore into the gods’ abilities, kits, and play styles. Thor and Loki aren’t just characters from Marvel comics and movies. They’re also a part of Norse mythology and you can take control of them in SMITE!
What makes SMITE different?
SMITE takes all of the strategy of the top MOBA games and adds another layer of difficulty by putting you into the action! Unlike most MOBA games, SMITE offers players the chance to experience the MOBA genre they know and love from a third-person perspective. This unique perspective allows for an extremely immersive experience unlike any other game in the genre. While this doesn’t sound like such a big change, once you play it you’ll understand! All of these things added together is what has gaming websites everywhere continually rating SMITE as one of the best MOBA games available!

that didnt deserve to even be on a top 5 plays
while he did luck out on dodging herc ult(herc ult fires faster than tyr ult) it was just a good play in general to dodge the damage herc could have still hit him for with a basic or his 2 which i dont think he had used yet. It was a wise placement of his ult that gives damage immunity till it deals damage. The framing makes it seem more dramatic but still a good use of his ult.
Marco Perdomo yea perfect ult prediction to save your own life and get a kill is overrated. Tyr could have switched stance to try and kill and herc would have demolished him

damn i remember #1 like it was yesterday.. first couple weeks smite was out of beta, and this was the first 'epic' 10 man teamfight we ever really saw on top 5 plays. it really ment alot for the smite community that play.. it kinda felt like that fight was revolutionary for smite's future seeing as it was so epic and hype

I honestly remember one even better, it was only #2 on that episode to me it will always be the best, it was a mercury escaping like 5 people and he dodged like 8-10 xbal basics coming from a player behind his back.
I dont know this game but, the announcer make it so damn good..

The most epic play ever
i mean its only a tyr hitting his combo on somebody under a tower. I'm sure its only on the list because it looks cool. if u watching u see tyr actually ults before herc and every other one abilities he has is down so there was nothing else for him to do but try and secure the kill with his ult. If herc didnt waste his ult there would have never even made it to a top 5 plays
EpicGamerBen It's hard to say if that was skill. I'd say it was kinda lucky since he ult'd before the Herc did (unless he predicted it?)
he was also out of options, his stance switch fearless and power cleave were down and herc wasn't dead so the only thing to do was ult

Reikeon Gaming they turned a bad situation on it's head with great ability and active use, which normally goes unnoticed by newer players. You won't ever see that because it's spur of the moment
Ya i can see how the battle is extended and goes back and forth but still, noone here did a great play, lots of people miss their abilities, walk straight up into ultimates, jump in 1v3 where they should actually get wrecked but it doesnt matter because the enemies are missing everything anyway. And then agni even lazy backs.You can see "great plays" like this in any silver-gold or casual match if you really want. Sry not trying to be offensive but i dont get why everyone is so hyped about this clip expect for the nostalgia.
Exactly. The nostalgia factor is the main reason the play even got featured I feel like. The #1 play got overshadowed by every other play in this episode.

I love Inuki's little fursona thing that accompanies the end of these top 10 plays videos. And, I love the years of work he's done to compile these clips and bring them to us in such an epic fashion. The players always deserve credit but, Inuki is what also helps make the series. I bought your VP the first time so, I don't need the promo.

Since you're new to smite, let me explain: it was focused on the immense amount of team coordination. As you saw, there were many plays that would not have worked without their awareness and understanding of abilities, movement speed, and positioning. The Thanatos took the execute to rid the enemy of their highest damaging character, who at that time was unstoppable as a ADC. He became a distraction as he drove attention away from the big fight and weakened the other two in case they go after teammates. The Scylla and tyr respected their ability cooldowns and were able to successfully aid eachother and save themselves from plays that could've gone sour at any point. The Sobek set up the anhur for easy damage and allowed them to destroy most of their damage. I hope this helped you understand

It was honestly a battle royal, felt like i was watching the china teams relegate for worlds. And the #3 was a typical tyr play that noobs only fall for in solo lane
i remeber that play it was awesome, when in season 1 was so amazing for some people is like other teamfight XD, i like when the jungle has fog and all that... old times XD
that last play was intense, and that bachus knows his tank role

Number one was like a succession of number fives. No single play was super great, but altogether was really fun to watch.
8:55 important to note the blink basic attack body block by Tyr to save Scylla. Back in the day when you did the breakdown of the fights it's there. Still got that top 5 video saved in my favourites

Turtles nah I think it is quite decent
Turtles just wants to sound cool but the play is well placed. He didnt know to dodge the herc ult but it was exactly what he needed his ult for, deal a little damage and give himself damage immunity. The fact that he dodged herc ult was just coincidental timing.
It's hard not to get chills watching this 😂 it gets me so hype to just really try when playing smite!

Tyr ulting the hercules boulder was a better bait than anything else but predicting someone else's skills is a relatively common, albeit advanced techique

Oh my god man...this video was just in time,i literally feel it was destiny! I was just thinking in typing a comment trying to tell you,inuki,to look at your older videos and try to regain your inspiration at video and commenting plays,because i FELT like your were losing the inspiration,like,when someone starts working and that person is in love with the job,but as time passes he loses the motivation and passion for it(i know you always did your job how its done,but i just felt like your videos werent as good as before,just me),i once just for curiosity went and searched for the first smite 5 plays video ever,then i looked the second one,then the 3rd one,and before you know it i have watched ALL of the top5plays,and i was amazed by your editing and commentaring skills and also sadded,because you obviously had FUN with this job,it was obvious,you even did puns and other video games references now and then. Now? You only commented the plays and moved on...
But out of nowhere,THIS video is uploaded! Not only did it bring out plays that i loved from years ago,but it had the BEST editing montage at the beggining in a top5 plays i have ever seen!(Or remembered...xDD)

This might sound like a dumb idea but like they showed in the patch notes today they should make the gold key a permanent thing. But there has to be the most rarest way to obtain one. and you could most likely get it maybe be once a year. Anyway with the golden key you can be able to get any skin or any cosmetic item in the game? does this sound dumb? maybe reaching grandmaster in ranked will be the only way to gain the key therefore only being able to have 3 keys.
