Saw *Italo Disco* on title and I click thumb up instantly!! I discovered the italo disco recently and I love it, the catchy basslines+drumms, "simple" melodies...and the new stuff of *Synthwave*...what a time to live!! Amazing video and hardware!
And the melody lines are often beautiful with their combination of minor key tones and at the same time catchyness. And I love the English with italian accent really. 🙂
Human brain is an interesting device. I noticed that I "heard" all the other instruments and singing automatically when listening to these basslines :)
@@DeLoreanDriver We are colleagues then👍 I can't say that it's simple, actually. When I'm listening "Dolce Vita" and "I Like Chopin", I'm imagine cosmoromanticism, future in 1980's vision, sci-fi, Discoclub ver. 1983, breakdancing, spring, pink sunset, like in L. A. It's hard to explain, but it's very beautiful, harmonic, esotheric feelings, fantasy.
So nice, and so much memories. I think I musrt be Swedens biggest italofan. In october I was at an italo-event in Helsingborg, southern Sweden, and heard/ saw among others Den Harrow (Stefano Zandri) and Linda Jo Rizzo. The year before that I was at 2 concerts with Vince Lanzini and Fancy and Italo Connection.
Thank You for this! I will say a cliche, but - Italo Disco Forever! That music has a big deal of forming who i am. And, i am so glad "New Italo Disco" is going strong.
As you played them, I decided to go look up and listen to the originals. There is quite an interesting variety of styles between all the songs. I think I like the Valerie Dore song the best.
Man, you should have put a warning: "Highly concentrated awesomeness. Viewer discretion is advised!";) You floored me from the very beginning with Savage.... Gazebo... Valerie Dore... Comanchero... everyone! Brought me 30+ years back. I remember watching virtually all of them on Festivalbar on TV or taping them from the radio (yep, we did those things back in the day). And those snares.... Ah the good old times when Synthmania did not put out videos on a daily basis and our hearts weren't put to the test that much!:))) :P
I remember hearing those type basslines in the eighties. They were being used a lot in the records they were putting out at the time and especially with a lot of cow bell!!

Nice vid. u r like the italo bass master, Paolo :-) I've been trying to figure out how to do the base for koto's visitors for a long time. I can't seem to figure out what kind of delay his done on the base. think u can do a vid showing how to create the base, when u have some time? i enjoy ur vids very much. tnx for sharing!
Auguri, Paolo! it sounded like the real deal to me :)) Loved the detail of putting together two of the most famous basslines from maestro Giombini!! ;) This clip is specially great I think, to show up to some detractors of Italo that always say that all songs have the same groove (binary drums & octaved bass), not true at all. Grazie.
I've always loved sweet BASS lines. I usually use the Juno 60 or Juno 106 for the BASS. I just love that flappy Bass of the 106 and ground moving 60 bass. :) Thanks for making this sweet video. I've always wanted to figure out how Techmaster P.E.B. makes that SUPER LOW BASS that makes the ground shake, like in BASSGASM. I know it's not Italo Disco, but that BASS is my favorite type of bass. I also like Koto's Dragon's Legend, Laserdance's Humanoid Invasion, and Fancy's Lady of Ice. However, the BASS in Newcleus's Jam on It, Giorgio Moroder's Together in Electric Dreams, and Falco's Rock Me Amadeus. Your channel helped to introduce me to a few of the above and Danny Keith's Keep on Music, Brando's Rainy Day, Dyva I know, Koto's Visitors, Jock Hattle's Crazy Family, Brian Ice's Talking to the Night, Ken Laszlo's Hey Hey Guy, Duke Lake Do You, and Valerie Dore's The Night. Now there's NEW Italo Disco that sounds just as wonderful. I like Cristina Manzano's Only Dreams. Sorry for writing so much, but I know that you share my passion for Italo Disco and music in general. Anyway, I really love that LinnDrum and look forward to more videos! Take care, Sam. BTW, TH-cam won't allow me to reply to your comments, so I put them on your discussion board. Later...
Machiwoomiapoo me and you have Alot in common with taste in music lol. recently learned "Jam on it" bass was done with sci pro one. great bass line in that song. of course savage has really solid bass lines... like the majority of most italo artists do.
Sweet! I love that sound of Newcleus. I've been trying to figure out what Animotion used on Obsession. In the video I see a DX7 and Jupiter 8. Do you know what they used for the BASS and chord lines? It's nice that they use a real slap bass and guitar and of course excellent singers. :) We do have a lot in common. Do you have facebook? If so, let me know. Take care, Sam.
Machiwoomiapoo jeez you got me on that one but I'm quite certain I have it narrowed down to three ..I would say, due to the particular flavor of resonance within that bass- of that song.. I'd say it could be either a tb303,sh101, or even the pro one. the pro one has, of Course, a nice built in sequencer. It has to be one of those. if I'm wrong then someone shoot me lol. I highly doubt a p5 was used and I don't think they used for that song any synth from the 70s.... so yeah. it's a great song though. no I don't have face book unfortunately. I should generate one though, your always welcome to message me or email at razedonneon1985@gmail.com I like how you got the eclectic taste. so yeah see if my reasoning is valid on assuming one of those. I wish I had the assured answer though chords of course must've been dx7 or Jupiter 8. I'm going to watch the live video one more time
I think you put with your latest videos teaching to a new level! I am very thankful for that! 💭🎼👍 BTW, i love to see the finger-set to. "Steal-with-Eyes-System" Hope you continue with your series.
Awesome. In the back of my mind before I watched this I was thinking... it would be cool if he played the one from Turbo Diesel. But what would the odds be? I just recently realized that many of the rhythms I've liked over the years were Italo disco.
I gave my Juno away in the early 90s, big mistake wish I still had it. Come on ULI and make me my dream synth because there’s no way I can afford a second hand one now.
Hi Paolo - I grew up in the 80's - I'm addicted to Italo Disco - I see a few Italian Artists still do it but what is your honest opinion - Is Italo Disco Dead - or do you think it's a matter of taste?
"New Italo Disco" is pretty strong, all things considering. Check internet radio MaxItalo, they have everything - channels for "classics", mixes, maxi-singles and new italo disco
I have a question for Paolo and all of you in the Synth community. Besides music videos, how did you all discover what instruments a band uses on a song? I can tell the sound of certain synthesizers by ear now which is a skill I didn't have a couple years ago. I usually google it, read message boards, etc. Any other tips? Your TH-cam friend, Sam.
Like yourself I do it by ear. Another tip is to look for music videos of the band performing. Look at what kit they are using. Also find out the year of the song. You can narrow down your search significantly by doing this. For example anything before 1983 wont have the DX7 on it. A lot of synth tracks between 83-88 will actually be using sounds from the Fairlight and E-mu libraries. Download the soundbanks and be surprised at how many sounds you will recognise.

Potresti per favore chiarire il dubbio, grazie in anticipo.

Great to see how simplicity can be the absolute backbone of a track..
