Good for you, Jean! I like how you worded your comment. I spent the first 31 years of my life surviving. During the pandemic I started performing Standup comedy. 1.5 years later, I still have my day job in sales, but I’m on stage 4-5 times a week trying to make people laugh, and it’s been the most fun and fulfilling experience of my life. For once, I feel like I’m being myself.

Interesting thought. I have felt too complacent lately and a thought that came to me was “you need to break yourself Francine, before you allow others to break you”. I realized all my growth from brokenness, has happened as a result of things others have done to me or that have simply happened. I am learning to break myself instead, and recreate myself out of my broken pieces that I have chosen.

    • @melodyal3357
      @melodyal3357 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@francineleach6841 I am in the similar phase now and can identify with your words. Wisdom is often found in the book, in own experience and the answers are within us. There is one interesting saying I've heard long time ago. I don't remember exactly how it goes, but thought is something like this: ,,Maybe who you have become is not who you are supposed to be. It's not about who you have become because of what they (people, society, bad experiences, pain, etc..) made you to be, but about UNLEARNING everything you knew in order to find real you." I think the real answer is hidden in how we were when we were kids - before life knocked us down, before we started to listen to adults more (who are lost as we are..) and less our inner voice, in things that made us happy and hopeful. I think answers are there.

10 life lessons from Friedrich Nietzsche.
    1. Be a harmonious totality. " One must still have chaos in oneself to be able to give birth to a dancing star. " Each of us have two main sides to our personality: a rational, conscious and responsible (Apollonian side) & Instinctual subconscious and emotional (Dionysian side). One has to balance both to have a happy life. It is a balance between organized, responsible and logical life & artistic, creative and emotional life.
    2. Avoid having a reactive life. " Most humans distract their thoughts, to cease to be aware of life." Be brave enough to face the reality and fight the obstacles. Stop being a passive spectator and take our lives in our own hands.
    3. Avoid holding resentments. " To be incapable of taking one's enemies, one's accidents, even one's misdeeds seriously for very long- that is the sign of strong, full natures in whom there is an excess of the power to form, to mold, to recuperate and to forget." Resentment is a poison and slave mentality that can consume us deeply. When somebody becomes a threat, take the immediate and necessary steps against that person and afterwards move on, forget and do not keep any resentment. Avoid arguing for your limitations and keep going towards your goals. Build yourself up instead of complaining.
    4. Don't blindly follow the masters. "Don't just swallow the wisdom of the past masters of philosophy. Rather, strive to build your own path appreciate the masters from the past. But don't just follow them blindly." 3 paths- crossroads.
    5. Find your WHY. "He who has a "Why" is life can tolerate any how." Look at the mirror and see whether you are able to feel respect to yourself. If so then you have a why to live.
    6. Suffering can make you stronger. "One that can't distroy me, makes me stronger." Each events of life teach you something new.
    7. Avoid being just busy. "Men fall into two groups, slaves and freemen. Whoever does not have 2/3rd of his day for himself is a slave."
    8. Live dangerously.🔥
    9. Become a superhuman. Be a bridge.
    10. Happiness - Say yes to the valuable.

Wonderful ideals from my great great uncle 🙂 I went through all of my childhood and teenage years asked by various teachers and professors if I was related to Friedrich. It wasn’t until my early twenties that my Grandfather told us that we were direct relatives, and when he moved to Canada, he dropped the “Z” from our name so he wouldn’t be associated with Nietzsche. My Grandfather felt rather uncomfortable knowing that people might associate him with these, in his terms “crazy ideals”. So, pleasantly surprised, my maiden name is Nietsche. I wish the “z” wasn’t removed! I guess there was an underlying reason why I wanted to major in philosophy 🙂

He knew the imperfection of humans and how deeply prone to bad ideas we are, and when left to creating our own justifications we are capable of tremendously evil acts and self-centerdness. Therefor have something good outside of yourself to keep your actions and behavior just.

I enjoyed he overview. Nietzche’s philosophies seem to explain why my rather nonconformists life has led to a view that life has been beautiful. Even now, at nearly 75, I approach life much like Nietzche has outlined. I only really get angry with those who can never trust investing in others who are different , who are not just like them. We learn by empowering others. Trust is not always verified, but those who fail to see happiness as a process that always includes others, risks investing in others, are typically pretty boring and unsuccessful, walking dead, never very happy.

2022-03-03: I am a Christian, not just nominally,
    and before considering Nietzsche seriously
I had been believing and living most of these things
    as a somewhat iconoclastic believer.
But when I read Nietzsche I still find him difficult to grasp
and i find him more bitter and judgmental than what this presentation advocates.
But I started out first with reading ‘The Anti-Christ” and miscellaneous snippets,
    and second hand commentaries etc.
Presentations like this are very helpful.
My friend who is an atheist and very well versed in Nietzsche
strongly recommends reading Nietzsche first before anybody’s comments.
But I am a Cliffs Notes, Dummies, type learner. Also somewhat lazy.
With all that said, I find the bulk of 10 items in this presentation
compatible with my personal style of Christianity,
but I wonder how Nietzschean this really is.
To me Apollonian (or Apollonian) is pretty much Left Brain,
and Dionysian is pretty much Right Brain.
Makes it much simpler and easier than what I get when I start reading
and trying to grasp the first chapter of “The Birth of Tragedy”.
I think annotated versions of Nietzsche’s books might be helpful.
    Maybe there are such things.,
    Thanks for posting.

His sister, Elisabeth, was a nazi. Friedrich has always critized her for that, and critized nazis in general and antisemitism sharply. But when he had his mental breakdown and his condition worsened constantly, she "took care of him". That means, she made an archive of his working and treated him like an object. When he was unable to stand or speak because of his bad health, she collected various parts of sentences from his books, and then wrote a new nazi book with that, under his name. The nazis treated this like their bible. Friedrich was mistreated and abused basically. It's a huge misconception that he was a nazi.

Nietzsche shaped the world of post-modern. Being a philologist, he had great admiration of Roman and Greek culture. He was unable to make name for him in his life but after his life, he shaped an entire century. One of few people, with whom Nietzsche agreed, including Fyodor Dostoevsky. It is said that Nietzsche did his philosophy with a hammer, deconstructing the already-made prejudices. He is also one of the hardest philosophical figure to read.

Nietzsche makes a lot more sense than other philosophical thinkers.

For a man who brought about Existentialism he must have forgotten that freedom is within bounds for everything. Thus his own desire to be free is rather his own desire to be rebellious and spark anarchy.

I wonder what Nietzsche thought of Buddha's teachings? As a non believer of the supernatural being controlling all human affairs, Buddha strongly encouraged self inquiry for reaching the nirvana (nibbhana in Pali). So much commonality between Buddha's teachings and these 10 points Nietzsche advanced.

Manipulating people to betray themselves is the definition and goal of tyranny. I think that is the most despicable thing to do to young people.

Entertainment news and political news have a lot in common. Nietzsche criticized those who wasted time on the parliamentary politics of his day.

So different the way you're explaining Nietzsche's philosophy from the way my teachers at the Catholic school used to explain it haha

It's not what you say that matters most of the time but how you present it. Most people don't notice information unless it's useful. The "what" is only relevant once it's use is understood.

If you read the Antichrist by Nietzsche he really sounds like a different person in my opinion I would assume that's what your Catholic school was referencing
