Epic and perfectly informative video... Really learnt a lot and helped me to open up a whole new realm of ground pounding fun! Thanks Torni! By the way, LST worked a treat as well once you've worked out the general area too hehe ;)
Hey, thanks for the great tutorials. I was away from DCS for a long while and now relearning the Hornet, this helps. Although as of 22 Dec 2022 I cannot get autoloft to work with JDAM in PP mode. Does it even work in PP mode? Or do I absolutely have to be in TOO to toss those suckers? I select auto loft, enter coordinates in MSN for stations 3 and 7, select both weapons in QTY, I get the bomb fall line and the target diamond, with correct target marking with concentric circles and employment segment on the HSI, no DUD cue, I start pulling up at 6.5 miles, the drop cue comes down and passes through my VV and nothing happens, the bombs don't come off. Ever had that?
Thanks for the tutorial, seems like lots of fun! Would it have been more accurate to just jot down the coordinates from the JTAC and get a more accurate elevation read from your TGP close to the target? That way you'd not have to aim just on target with the TGP like you (almost) did.
@@janlapple5686 all good mate, I take it all onboard and try to make them as informative as I can going forward. Appreciate the questions and comments from every one
Is there a particular reason for neither using aspj in proximity of sam sites nor markpoints to store target locations? Would have made your life a bit easier
Torni, this is great, and way easier than I expected.. thank you! Do you know of a way to keep the JTAC text visible longer? In DCS Liberation it stays on for long enough to punch in coordinates, so there must be a way to do it...but I didn't see it in the link documentation (or merely missed it)
I was trying to figure out this same thing, had a quick look at the script and this is the line to change in the jtac section: ctld.notifyCoalition(_message, 10, _side) The 10 represents how many seconds the message displays.
@@cookie13spike thanks!! ... I changed it to 30 but it still is short for me :( This is why I switched majors from computer science to some liberal art :D
@@ColonelAkirNakesh I had a further look and think this is the actual line to edit for the JTAC target message, edit the 10: ctld.notifyCoalition(fullMessage, 10, _jtacUnit:getCoalition(), _radio, message)
Hey mate...nice work...i learned something in this video...will try this. But how the f...do you do, to look at the units in real image in the ME? Can not figure it out..
I’m not quite sure I understand what you mean mate, are you meaning being able to see the units when you zoom right in on the ME or actually having the 3D camera view??
@@TorniQuetHD zooming in in the ME,... at 4.03 min, you posed the Sam and then you where looking, if there is no obstacle...i can do it in the F10 map...left click on unit, then LCTRL+F11...but in the ME?
@@undertakerlux1 You mean like in the loadout/liveries view? If you click on the unit, below 'late activation' 'hidden on MFD' and all that, there are a few funny looking icons, and the second one that looks like the front view of a missile/bomb is the loadout/livery screen and you can see the 3D models of everything. But if you mean zooming waaaaay in on the ME and seeing the units, click on the little tank icon in the bottom toolbar next to the clock/watch icon that says 'show models' if you hover over it.
Bruh I was just expecting a quick "how far can I toss this", not a full on mission editor tutorial with ctld. You're the best!
Get in there and make a mission now and bomb things to your hearts content 👌🏻👌🏻
Thanks!
So glad I cam across your content. Perfect length, just the right amount of info. Hope there are many more tutorials to come.
Cheers mate, glad they helped you out
Great stuff as always, cheers Torni
Cheers matey!
Absolutely awesome video thx! Love your vids

Glad it helped you out mate!!
After weeks of training now everything makes so much more sense. Love it
Nice mate, you’ve still got years of practice to go to fine tune your skills 👌🏻 You never stop learning, there is always something you can do better
THis looks interesting I will watch it now.

Great job
Glad you got something from it mate
Thank you for making this tutorial video for us.
No worries mate, glad it helped
Great video as always! Thanks. Where do you get those static templates from? Installed DCS on a new PC and I have a very limited selection available.
Change the nation...you will have more choice ( edit..that was not the right answer)
You should have a decent base group of templates to choose from but you can also make your own and save them too 👌🏻
^^^ That should help too
Can you do video on Harpoons?
In the works mate 👌🏻

Yeah for sure, but I wanted to show common mistakes that I’ve seen people do and how to negate them
@@TorniQuetHD thanks! Not criticizing at all, just wanted to make sure I understood correctly :)

I wanted to show common mistakes people make and how to fix them. If you don’t know what not to do you can’t do it properly am I right 🤪🤪

I’m not sure mate but I’d say it wouldn’t be hard to edit the time once you found it in the lua file.

th-cam.com/video/d3cAJizqpo4/w-d-xo.html there you go my man
who is this? you have the same name as a streamer i used to watch but he died
Hahaha I know right… I do plan on getting the stream back underway soon
I feel this is a bit advanced.
To get the altitude you have to edit the CLTD-lua file:
find the function:
function ctld.getPositionString(_unit)
after the line:
local _mgrsString = mist.tostringMGRS(coord.LLtoMGRS(coord.LOtoLL(_unit:getPosition().p)), 5)
insert this code:
local _unitV3 = _unit:getPoint()
local _meters = land.getHeight({x = _unitV3.x, y=_unitV3.z})
_meters = math.ceil(_meters)
local _feets = ctld.metersToFeet(_meters)
replace the row :
return " @ " .. _latLngStr .. " - MGRS " .. _mgrsString
with:
return " @ " .. _latLngStr .. " - MGRS " .. _mgrsString .. " - Height " .. _meters .. " meters, " .. _feets .. " feets"
and you're done.
Hope this helps
My brain has melted but I will give this a crack on a copy of the CTLD lua 👌🏻
Worked for me, thank you Andrea!!
