Jay, I've been painting models and war gaming stuff since the 1950's and I still learn at least one new thing from you every time I watch one of your vid's Kudo's again!!!!
My marines are orange and black... A good basic method I have found using regular gw paints, is... a couple base layers of jokearo orange and then a layer of trollslayer, then a dark wash. Then bring the colour back up with 2-3 more thinned layers of troll slayer. Leaves a good "orange fruit skin" colour.

I've been playing Eldar for a bit, and am still learning quite a bit about them. Like any good Elf, I love when a plan comes together but making it work takes more effort then most other armies right now. The various Aspects also mean I can paint a wide variety of colors and still technically be apart of the same army. Shame some of their models still haven't been updated (Warp Spiders/Scorpions) and I wish GW had bothered to do it when they updated the codex.
I don't really play Eldar, but my gf agreed to play if she could have an Eldar army. As accessible as your videos are for newbies in the hobby space Jay I'd love to see more Eldar content, even if it's just to show her new color ideas or ways to paint!
I painted my Corsairs a few weeks back and boy oh boy, with the classic layering technique they took AGES but I'm happy how they turned out. Used quite a few heads from the new Guardians box as those heads look very good. I chose one of them as she looked kinda cute on the box art (she has the top knot with white hair) But I accidentally made her look like a hard arse and Dee Reynolds from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia lol
I uses to collect Eldar and had an army of them years ago, a good painting challenge. But after taking some years away and coming back to the hobby at first I was happy to see some of the old models I used to have, then saw how old they look compared to some of the current stuff and it's not nice, the refreshes they do get are great but the faction as a whole needs updating (aspect warriors and phoenix lords) it was a bit off putting but did lead me to start my Tau army
I will be honest with you, the thing that got me back into the warhammer hobby after 15 years (from young kid to adult) was the slick tanks. The way those sharp edged hover tanks looked in their bright ballsy colors always stuck a chord with me. It was a good one and I thoroughly enjoyed watching someone get in on the action. I would love to see some of those Ynnari, cough, I mean Drukhari visit the pumpkin palace
Though I started out with the good ol' Astartes, I've always prefered the Aeldari. Even when I quit the hobby ten years ago, I still kept on reading the novels and codex of both craftworlders, drukhari, and later on Harlequins and now Corsair. I love those doomed, yet proud people. And now that I'p back painting, I can't wait to finally bring my own OCs to life ^^
Eldar were my very first army back in 1994 (‘95?) and I’ll always have a soft spot for them, but the Finecast stuff that’s still available is literally the same sculpts I had the better part of 30 years ago! They’re long overdue for some sweet, sweet love!
I think the Drukhari plastic sculpts are some of the best, and are what got me into collecting Eldar. They are great for kitbashing, as the entire plastic Drukhari line is essentially interchangeable with itself. The recently released Craftworld plastic models are similarly friendly to kitbashing. The Comorrite kill team is probably my favorite in the Compendium.
I have bought most of the new Kill Team stuff (bought the starter set rather than Octarius because of money) but didn't bother with Nachmund as not a fan of Chaos and already had most of the terrain from the Imperium Magazine. After seeing your 'simple' paint job I think I may buy the Corsairs box and the Nachmund book. Lovely look to the minis. The only Eldar I have are from the Epic Scale boxes - they need to bring these back. Cheers and keep up the good work.
These corsairs are perfect for the Craftworld Lugganath! Orange and Black is their scheme, and they’re a smaller craftworld practically ostracised from the others for their renegade behaviour. That’ll fit right in for this kill team!
I've got a box of drukhari kabalites waiting to get painted so I would love to see your take on more drukhari 👌. My ideas was either purple with magenta highlights and orange pop details or an off white with lots of grime, scratches and gore. Just throwing it out there 😁
More Aeldari please! I love all your videos, but the Warhammer painting/crafting community is so full of Space Marines that it's really nice to see something different! Plus, I love your creative bits of lore - both "canon" and your own made up stuff! - and I have really enjoyed your lore and story ideas for the non-Marine factions!
I love this style of video. Has everything from lore to painting and even some modeling. Super fun great content! Would love to see more factions done like this. Yet Eldar was a great one to do cause yes they never get much love.
I would love to see you kitbash, 3D print and green stuff your way through a dark eldar kill team that looks 100% modern and updated. If GW won’t update the eldar range, I believe you guys can do it!!
I wasn't phased by Eldar for a long time, but the new Dark Reapers and Maugan Ra models really hooked me. I just find them so enjoyable for some reason.
I think the eldar have the potential to be fascinating. In true grimdark style I imagine a race of cruel, arrogant, corrupt mystics, struggling to stave off the boredom of immortals. Brightly coloured, enamelled, and lacquered suits and armour, but get close and the lacquer is cracked, the suits chipped and patched, the beautiful faces lined and pock marked under the powder. Living on giant, spacefaring haunted graveyards where century upon century the ghosts start to outnumber the living. But I've yet to try to paint any as I know there's no way I could cram all that whimsical detail onto such a tiny skinny model!! 😄
With all the other channels out there doing how to paint yet another space marine, it's nice to see some Eldar painting ideas. Also, I assume as the Corsair kit isn't readily available in a solo kit(7/20/2022) until this coming weekend, might have hampered a bunch of people getting a crack wt them. Thankfully, they should be out by the weekend. So, hopefully we see some more examples. Also, I can't be the only person looking at the Corsair models and thinking: "Is this a Dark Eldar Archon?" So... maybe I want more than one kit of the Corsairs...
Eldar have always been my favourite - for almost 30 years now; I wish we had more updated models as well. One nitpick though - The Avatar and the War Walker were first in the 2e codex in 1994. My Avatar is that old.
coming from WH fantasy originally playing dark elves after the End Times lore basicly ruined it and replaced it with AoS i migrated to 40k as i was always interested but never fully commited be my main focus was fantasy, so now jumping in 40k i naturally LOVE the Eldar, all kinds but especially the Dark Eldar and the Corsairs, their models are easily the nicest looking in the game imo i now have 5000+pts worth of them. Please do more Eldar
Great on Drukhari. Please have a look at turquoise Drukhari (from mechanicum jon I believe), these dark oxidized kabalite armours are the best in my opinion (Venom and raiders are dope too). Would be interested to see if you find an easy way to copy it. I did, but could not find the original coral blue spray from Tamiya in my country (so mines ended greeners).
I loved hou u did the colors on the corsairs. And how u painted them. But the dark eldar. Naah let those in the box. Then better de the harlekins with their back ground
Eldar and sisters are my favorite factions, you have an fun and interesting take/outlook on the hobby that inspires me to keep trying to improve. I would adore to see you paint more eldar!
Eldar show up in the most 40k games, have the most spotlight as xenos in the books, and even make a few appearances in the horus heresy. If anything, I'd say nids, tau and necron have been pushed mainly to the sides.
During 7th I tried just about every army out but couldn't find anything that really suited me. Then I played the Dawn of War and really enjoyed the Dark Eldar playthrough. Nobody in my shop played them, noooooobody. So I thought I would try them out and I instantly turned my losing streak around and went on to be undefeated for the rest of 7th. The Dark Eldar don't get a lot of air time and are a little understaffed vs these massive monstrous HQs these days. They've been my bois ever since.
Damn I've been painting these over the weekend using airbrush and traditional methods and they're a nightmare to paint. I need to try a contrast method in future and see how those turn out
I'm a big fan of the eldar, Corsairs got me into kill team I'd love to see you do some dark eldar as well! It's a bummer we get such a bad rep but I don't mind being one of the only eldar players at the store, fits in with our lore. No one expects eldar trickery!
Jay, you paint all your killteams so beautifully and with a personal touch, HOW?! do you do it? Well, I do love these space elves and would love to see the space dark elves
I’d definitely like to see some Drukhari love. I’ve got a large army that I started after the refresh however many years ago. On a side note, are you having any reactivation issues with Speed Paint, if so, how are you combating it?
I was thinking about getting Cortters because of them being more corruptive to human then the Exodites because they they Give me Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl vibes.
They may be sidelined in the lore a bit but they've certainly seen their fair share of releases recently, a massive portion of the range got a crisp update
Eldar are my main faction, and I like them a lot. They’re pretty obviously protagonists to me- each craftworlder an individual who walks their own path. They’re not a mindless drone, or conquerors, or one of trillions enlisted to fight an endless war. They may fight, but it is to ensure the safety of their home. Humanity in 40K to me, is a lesson and a warning. The Eldar is who we are. They explore the human condition so beautifully. Each book in the Path of the Eldar Series starts thusly: ‘Life is to us as the Maze of Linnian was to Ulthanesh, its mysterious corridors leading to wondrous vistas and nightmarish encounters in equal measure. Each of us must walk the maze alone, treading in the footsteps of those that came before but also forging new routes through the Labyrinth of Existence. . . Like all journies, the path is different for each of us. Some wander for a long while in one place; some spread their travels wide and visit many places for a short time while others remain for a long time to explore every nook and turn, some of us lose our way and leave the Path for a time or forever; and some of us find dead-ends and become trapped.” -Kysaduras the Anchorite, foreword to Introspections upon Perfection. While the Eldar may be perfect and elevated, and they may be alien and strange, they feel the most like home to me. I’ll always walk the Path and find solace in the domes of the craftworld, even if Asurmen, the literal fucking founder of the Craftworlds hasn’t gotten a goddamn model update in 20 fucking years goddamnit-

The various Aspects also mean I can paint a wide variety of colors and still technically be apart of the same army.
Shame some of their models still haven't been updated (Warp Spiders/Scorpions) and I wish GW had bothered to do it when they updated the codex.
Would definitely love to see some drukhari love! Still need to paint mine
I don't really play Eldar, but my gf agreed to play if she could have an Eldar army. As accessible as your videos are for newbies in the hobby space Jay I'd love to see more Eldar content, even if it's just to show her new color ideas or ways to paint!
👍👍 Looking really good!
Great to see you branching out into basing your miniatures Jay! 👍😁
As someone who's in the process of making their own pirate themed space marine chapter, I'm glad you're enjoying the term piratical as much as I do
I painted my Corsairs a few weeks back and boy oh boy, with the classic layering technique they took AGES but I'm happy how they turned out.
Very piratical pumpkin👍
Though I started out with the good ol' Astartes, I've always prefered the Aeldari. Even when I quit the hobby ten years ago, I still kept on reading the novels and codex of both craftworlders, drukhari, and later on Harlequins and now Corsair. I love those doomed, yet proud people. And now that I'p back painting, I can't wait to finally bring my own OCs to life ^^
Hell yeah! More druk and aeldari pls, they realy need some love
Eldar were my very first army back in 1994 (‘95?) and I’ll always have a soft spot for them, but the Finecast stuff that’s still available is literally the same sculpts I had the better part of 30 years ago! They’re long overdue for some sweet, sweet love!
Great video man. Loved your take on Corsairs. Eldar minis are beautiful to be sure. Would be keen for any future videos including them
I think the Drukhari plastic sculpts are some of the best, and are what got me into collecting Eldar. They are great for kitbashing, as the entire plastic Drukhari line is essentially interchangeable with itself. The recently released Craftworld plastic models are similarly friendly to kitbashing. The Comorrite kill team is probably my favorite in the Compendium.
Those came out great! I'm digging their worn appearance and desaturated colors. I would absolutely be down for seeing more of these.
10:53 it's actually closer to an AT-RT than an AT-ST
Those bases rock 🪨
I love this style of video. Has everything from lore to painting and even some modeling. Super fun great content! Would love to see more factions done like this. Yet Eldar was a great one to do cause yes they never get much love.
I love wave serpents and wraithlords so much, just really sick models
Eldar are my favorite faction, hands down. PLEASE DO MORE!
Loving the eldar dude, want to see how you tackle the dark eldar. Maybe blue and pink/red for the colours
You’re going to have a full Drukhari army soon and I’m here for it
I would love to see you kitbash, 3D print and green stuff your way through a dark eldar kill team that looks 100% modern and updated. If GW won’t update the eldar range, I believe you guys can do it!!
4x different flavours of "Nope" 😆😆😂😂😂
Eldar was my first army I put together and still one of my favorites even after move to Blood angels
I wasn't phased by Eldar for a long time, but the new Dark Reapers and Maugan Ra models really hooked me. I just find them so enjoyable for some reason.
9:23 you killed me with that quote XD
Well, GW hates rats too... We even have an sticker for that in our group
You mean skaven right? But how do you improve on perfect-great?
@@mattdeeley4302 With more-more sculpts and no resin-resin models.
Bro skaven get the most shi out of all sigmar factions rn from what I’ve seen 😂
@@astr0cade My comment has 2 years tho... XD Fortunately things changed. Blesseds by the horned rat!
Yes, please! I am also Aeldari-curious!
Great job on this video guys, I really enjoyed it
Ready to see the checkers on the harlequins.
Thanks for the glazing tip! I’ve been struggling a bit with what to do.
Holy crap I wasn’t even gonna comment but calling my name out made it a must
I really appreciate everything that teaches me something about factions I'd never buy a codex of. So I'm excited for more elder stuff.
You can literally learn about all the lore without buying a single codex. Lexicanum/40k wiki exists, and so do Luetin09 videos.
bro these are the best looking eldar I have ever seen. the colour choice was perfect! man I wish I could do this!
Also, I can't be the only person looking at the Corsair models and thinking:
"Is this a Dark Eldar Archon?" So... maybe I want more than one kit of the Corsairs...
They look more like rank and file kabalites than an archon
Eldar have always been my favourite - for almost 30 years now; I wish we had more updated models as well. One nitpick though - The Avatar and the War Walker were first in the 2e codex in 1994. My Avatar is that old.
Just subbed in hopes of more Eldar content! You're right, absolutely under represented, they didn't even get an MTG commander deck!!!
coming from WH fantasy originally playing dark elves after the End Times lore basicly ruined it and replaced it with AoS i migrated to 40k as i was always interested but never fully commited be my main focus was fantasy, so now jumping in 40k i naturally LOVE the Eldar, all kinds but especially the Dark Eldar and the Corsairs, their models are easily the nicest looking in the game imo i now have 5000+pts worth of them. Please do more Eldar
Not often that hobby videos make me laugh but there were several excellent jokes in here! Great job!
1992 93 was the shit so much gaming goodness still haven't found that black lotus ancestral recall
Love the lore while you paint can't wait to hear some more with the other box
Love the Drukhari more than any other faction. The more content the better!
I loved hou u did the colors on the corsairs. And how u painted them. But the dark eldar. Naah let those in the box. Then better de the harlekins with their back ground
I think one of the reasons you dont see them often is because until recently they were only available in the 2 player box.
Oh God that was awesome !
Love the Pumpkin Corsairs.
I am a Drukhari fan, gonna go see if you made a video for them Wyches right now !
This was a great video. It was so engaging it felt longer than 12 minutes
More Eldar !! Please
Funny. I just started Eldar because they are similar to Protoss in Starcraft. Also love Zerg so I might want to start Tyranids as well haha
Harlequins also live in camorach I'm pretty sure.
The Vulcans, I mean Eldar were my first army and are still my favorite.
I want you to notice in that list at the start how the Tau weren’t even mentioned…yeah that’s how it feels
The Eldar always fell like the little brother that mom tells you to take to everywhere
Yes more Kill Team Eldar please 👍
I vote yes on seeing the drukari get this treatment.
I like this push to make the Eldar more relevant, as a major 40k faction they don't get enough love...
All this awesome content under one roof! It’s more like Eons of Bangers, am I right?
Damn I've been painting these over the weekend using airbrush and traditional methods and they're a nightmare to paint. I need to try a contrast method in future and see how those turn out
I would love to see your techniques and skills applied to all kinds of different space elves even some not-so-GW miniatures too
Id love to see your take on the drukhari too
Glad to see you don't hate eldar like many other content creators. Although I'm pretty sure you have said you didn't like them
I enjoy any and call Kill Team content please keep it coming! 😁
Eldar are my favorite faction. I want to paint some up with color change paints to make them look extra elvish
Well, I do love these space elves and would love to see the space dark elves
loved the video and would love to see some more space elves! maybe some harlequins?!
I’d definitely like to see some Drukhari love. I’ve got a large army that I started after the refresh however many years ago. On a side note, are you having any reactivation issues with Speed Paint, if so, how are you combating it?
the speed paint issue has already been talked about a lot, just varnish and paint over
I was thinking about getting Cortters because of them being more corruptive to human then the Exodites because they they Give me Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl vibes.
Each book in the Path of the Eldar Series starts thusly:
‘Life is to us as the Maze of Linnian was to Ulthanesh, its mysterious corridors leading to wondrous vistas and nightmarish encounters in equal measure. Each of us must walk the maze alone, treading in the footsteps of those that came before but also forging new routes through the Labyrinth of Existence.
. . Like all journies, the path is different for each of us. Some wander for a long while in one place; some spread their travels wide and visit many places for a short time while others remain for a long time to explore every nook and turn, some of us lose our way and leave the Path for a time or forever; and some of us find dead-ends and become trapped.”
-Kysaduras the Anchorite, foreword to Introspections upon Perfection.
While the Eldar may be perfect and elevated, and they may be alien and strange, they feel the most like home to me. I’ll always walk the Path and find solace in the domes of the craftworld, even if Asurmen, the literal fucking founder of the Craftworlds hasn’t gotten a goddamn model update in 20 fucking years goddamnit-
Awesome video! Yes I would like to see more of Eldar and for GW to finally update some of our models to plastic
