What more could you ask for? This movie was so much fun and Josh Harnett is great in it. Hopefully its a sign of more fun and unique movies to come from everyone's favorite twist master - M. Night Shyamalan

Josh Hartnett has been doing a ton of independent films with an awesome diversity of roles. Look at his filmography. He does about one a year that HE chooses to do. M Knight has said only Hartnett could have pulled off this role and he was the first actor he went to. He has stepped out for roles he’s asked to play from great directors like John Logan (Sherlock, Skyfall) for Penny Dreadful, Guy Ritchie because they are neighbors and friends (Wrath of Man, Operation Fortune) and Christopher Nolan (no examples needed! 😊). Nolan said on casting Hartnett: We were excited to get him. He has made interesting choices and really stretches himself. So so much for Josh Hartnett’s “comeback”! Hubby and I have followed his career for 20+ years 😁
Great review man been hearing a lot of mixed things about this movie and i do want to check this one out as i love the premise, glad to to hear that this one is more grounded and glad to hear that this is one of your favourite M Nigh in the last decade
Ya it seems very hit or miss from people I follow, but I enjoyed it more than I expected to
I loved it as a terrific parody of the genre. Josh Hartnett was perfect in the double identity role. Hubs and I had so much fun we watched it twice!
I’m glad you had a good time with it. I’m definitely one of those people that will
Nitpick at the procedures. It got ridiculous for me. The other problem is the trailer showed too much so you know who the killer is easily.
I've seen a few reviews already that absolutely hated it, so seems it will be divisive like almost all his films
@@SeanKennyYT meant to say got ridiculous for me. Geez awful typo haha
I'd be lying if I didn't say that I almost googled that lol "wtf is Tricias"
@@SeanKennyYT 🤦♂️
I guess the haters didn’t pick up on either the trailers or the promos. Look at the Cooper-Jamie exchange?! You SEE the serial killer right from the start. M Knight TOLD us this was unlike any film he’s done before. All your complaints are why the plot is so good! What did you think about the 4, 629 improbabilities? Looking for a killer with no identifiable characteristics except with the little ole lady profiler’s generalized serial killers MO. A doting Daddy with 12 cut up body parts in 7 years (and #13 in his basement) treating his daughter to a 20,000 seat megastar concert with 6, 2538 SWAT guys surrounding every exit with everything but tanks. C’MON people! THINK. M Knight said he wants his films to be provocative and entertaining. And this one certainly is that. A cat and mouse tongue in cheek thriller, totally standing the predictable genre on its head!
🤣🤣🤣
@@mgariepy42 I liked it but it's definitely silly. He has come out and said the point is to see things through his eyes and root for a guy you know is bad, which I think it does. But let's not act like this thing was written to be Memento 😂
My favorite Shyamalan films are The Sixth Sense, Signs, Split, Unbreakable, and The Village. My bottom two are Lady In The Water and The Happening, with the remaining films being somewhere in the middle to me.
@@ronpotts6385 did you see Trap yet/did you enjoy it?
@@SeanKennyYTYes, I saw it last night, in a theater auditorium with maybe ten other people in it. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would, after watching some pretty negative YT reactions on Thursday and Friday. My favorite part of the movie was Josh Hartnett 's performance. I've been a bit of a fan since the late 90s, starting with Halloween H20 and The Faculty. His character, Cooper, gave me Dexter vibes, in the sense that he's a bad guy that you're rooting for. The distinction, of course, is that Dexter kills people who "deserve" it, while Cooper kills the innocent . The scenes with him being awkward and trying to be a cool dad to his teenaged daughter were relatable. And I liked the way he managed to keep his two lives (serial killer, suburban father) separate.
Ya, I really enjoyed how they managed to make you root for the antihero (Cooper) that you clearly know you shouldn't be. Glad you enjoyed it as much as me!
This one has me intrigued... I almost watched it today, might catch it down the line though...
@@brianclaudio1942 it's a love It or hate it movie based on everything I've heard. I really liked it, most popular channels seemingly hated it. Depends how much you turn your brain off/overanalyze flaws. If you're looking for a pretty fun thriller I recommend it. Let me know what u think
@SeanKennyYT I get a feeling I will. The 2nd trailer in particular sold me even more than the first. I'm able to enjoy most movies, even those that people seem to hate in droves haha, so I think I'll enjoy it.
@@brianclaudio1942 if you like the trailers premise, it's exactly that. You also don't seem like someone who takes movies incredibly serious so I'd be willing to bet you like it a good bit
@SeanKennyYT Yeah. I'd say so. Mostly, movies are just 2 hours of escapism... Sometimes they're just that. I feel if more people watched movies with that mindset, they'd enjoy movies way more.
@@brianclaudio1942 I'm actually probably going to put out a video about that exact topic soon lol
This just came out on my movie site. I feel like i already know who the killer if going to be. lol
@@ThepowderbluesForum it's beyond stupid but it's stupid fun imo
@@SeanKennyYT I usually like MNS's stuff. I really liked Servant.
If you like a lot of MNS stuff you'll probably enjoy Trap
@@SeanKennyYT I will. I just dont want Hartnett to be the killer. lol Because thats what i thinking at this point lol
@@ThepowderbluesForum They show the exact tone of the movie in the trailer. It's more so about how they get you as the audience to root for the antihero which makes it fun
I thought it would be bad. I just didn't think it would be this bad. If I never see a movie so boring, so predictable, so utterly void of anything that makes a movie special, it'll be too soon. I'm not even going to bother writing a review. I never want to think of this movie again.
haha I'm sorry it didn't work. Maybe I'm in a phase of really enjoying films everyone else finds terrible
See it again, this time try a new perspective. It’s an out-of-the-box parody, a comedy. Are you the kind of guy who picks lint off other people’s coats?
What I love is “that stupid shit” is intentional. This movie is so much fun if you can see it’s a terrific spoof on the serial-killer thriller genre. Hartnett said M Knight thinks it’s hilarious. 😆 My only disappointment is the miscasting, taking Saleka off the stage and putting her in a speaking role that only a good actress could put off. But I forgive Daddy. She is definitely a talented singer/songwriter. An actress? Not so much. 🫤
Ya, I believe it's usually intentional as well. But I also think it just doesn't work a lot of the time for M Night
