Hey you two, lovely to hear from you. I'm pleased you like the vid, it's a lovely town. How are those hummers - have they deserted you now for the winter? All the best, Rob
Tx for your kind comments Ivor. Yes, Dartmouth is a lovely town and we've been there several times too. Tx for watching the vid and taking the time to comment, much appreciated :) Best wishes, Rob
Wonderful historic Dartmouth 👍. We miss travel to Europe, and want to visit UK some year. Big like and full play. Thanks for sharing and have a great day 😀.
Thanks for your kind comments Jim. I'm pleased you enjoyed it. I'm sure you'll be travelling again soon but I know what you mean. We've missed travelling too. Tx again and all the best, Rob
An amazing tour, thank you for showing us this beautiful town and talking about the history. Very interesting area and so interesting to hear about the Mayflower too. The Castle is amazing. All the boats looked so beautiful out on the water. Greenway House would be amazing to tour. I love old places like that. Thank you so much Rob, for the tour. All the best!
Thanks Nicole. Dartmouth is a lovely town that we've been to a few times. Lots of history but still a modern town as well. And we could take Edith the dog too! Tx for watching and all the best, Rob
Thanks very much Rosemary, I'm pleased that you found the vid useful. Dartmouth is a lovely place and well worth visiting. In the vid, I left out Thomas Newcomen, who invented the first steam pump and lived in Dartmouth. There is an exhibition in the visitor centre. I was going to make a separate video of Newcomen, which is why I left him out, but then I realised that I don't have enough photos to make a decent video to do him justice. Hope you enjoy your visit. Best wishes, Rob
That was a wonderful walk Rob. I really enjoy learning about these places. I can't believe how long those towns/cities have been around. So interesting to see all the different building styles. Thank you for sharing.
Tx very much Becca. Dartmouth is a lovely town that we have been to a few times. It has a lot of history, whilst still being a contemporary place. Tx again for watching. All the best, Rob
An interesting and informative walk. I really like visiting Dartmouth with its brilliant location. Our most recent visit earlier this year was using the heritage railway from Paignton. It made for a really good day.
We went to Paignton on the steam railway too. I didn't get enough decent photos to include that in the vid though. I am going to do a separate short vid on Thomas Newcomen. Tx again for watching
Looked very nice to be honest and some great all buildings, not sue about the old railways station being turned into a champagne bar mind. Some real narrow walkways, which remind me of the shops in Whitby and wow, expensive for an ice cream there. Loved the cove and the fort there, great place to chill out and watch the boats come in and out, cheers Alan
Tx Alan. It's a lovely place to visit, we've been a few times. Lots of history but still an up to date town. The weather was mixed while we were there, but it is England and it was September :) Tx for watching and all the best, Rob
This is a very nice trip in Dartmouth and you show a lot of interesting places here connected with the naval history of England (and other things as well like wine). I was surprised to see MS Maud sailing there; but then the company owning the ship (Hurtigruta) has become cursed here in Northern Norway because they focus on cruises and not on the coastal communities along the coast of Norway; but that is another story....So I hope the Tourist Board soon will show some gratitude for the nice way you promote English Heritage:) All the best, Ant
Hi Ant, Dartmouth is a lovely town. We were surprised too to see Maud moored in the middle of the river. Hurtigruten is doing a lot of cruise advertising (or maybe it's just targeted at me because I've searched for cruises) but I didn't know that they did a round Britain cruise until I saw the ship at Dartmouth. Sorry to hear that they are not paying enough attention to the local communities in Norway. Any snow yet? All the best, Rob
@@TheCountryTraveller The funny thing is that I can see MS Maud moored in my city as I am writing; so now she is doing a trip to the north. That also explains a number of bewildered tourists spotted in the city:-)
@@ArcticNatureExperiences How interesting. When we saw Maud, she was on the last stop of the cruise before returning to Dover the following day, where the cruise ended. She must have steamed back to Noway then (Thurs 15th Sept) and started a new cruise straightaway.
@@TheCountryTraveller I think she is on a tight schedule trying to sail as many days as possible. That is also annoying the trade unions in Norway as Hurtigruta use staff from outside Europe to reduce the amount paid in salaries; so the good-will once felt from the coastal population is evaporating like snow in Sahara....As for snow the little that fell high up in the mountains has melted for now; but we are talking days before fresh snow will be visible on the peaks again!
