  • How to change the pollen filter on a VW Polo. This was done on a 2005 Polo 9N1. The procedure is almost exactly the same for most Polos from 2002-2015.
    Filter used was a Mann CU2545

    A GREAT tutorial which clears up any ambiguity over which way the filter goes in - thanks for taking the time to prepare this demonstration.

      Thanks! Yeah I was reading on forums some people having difficulty figuring out the airflow direction so I thought up an easy way :)

    Thank you for sharing with detailed explanation, especially on precautions while removing, fitting the new filter to its housing and additional tip to determine the air flow direction. Appreciate it !

    The air always flows towards the centre.

    • @lidge1994
      @lidge1994 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So even if my wheel is in the left side and the filter is on the right, the arrow should point from the door to the center console?

    • @johnc007
      @johnc007 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lidge1994 Yes. If you take your one out and see which way the arrow points and it should be pointing towards the centre console.

      @@johnc007 seems it was turned around, but it's disgustingly filthy so I put it back that way and will be changing it soon

    Hi,
    Do you know what is the purpose of the cable that comes from the hole near the slot for the filter?

      +TheOneThat Commented LOL, funny you said that, I was actually going to do it soon. My washer bottle has been leaking since like last month. Fill it up in the morning-empty by the evening with a puddle on the floor :). Keep an eye out, whats wrong with yours?

      Haha, thanks for the update! I thought it might be the same, the Polos really haven't changed much (mechanically/structurally) since 2002. The refinement is however much nicer :)

    • @messedupmechanic3607
      @messedupmechanic3607  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the filter will be similar probably not identical, installation will likely be identical. If you are in UK i suggest to look at Eurocarparts website, if you put your model information in it'll give you correct filter.

    what does it do. do i need to change it everytime i get my car serviced?

    • @messedupmechanic3607
      @messedupmechanic3607  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah. Basically it filters the air that comes into the car, so filters the heating and Air Con air from outside pollutants.
      I think officially you should change it every 20k miles. The first time I did it was at about 35k miles and it was filthy with leaves and loads of dust. If you change it every 20k miles should be fine. In the UK you can get it for about £7, so not expensive.
      But if you dont know when it was replaced you can check it, if its not dirty, put it back in :)
