    The best way to check for flatness on a table frame is run tight string, like 50lb or 100lb fishing line across the diagonals and check where they cross in the middle. If there is any gap or if one wire pushes on the other too much, then you don't have a flat surface. A lot of people think you need to just level the table afterwards but if you don't have a truly flat plane on top, meaning a slight twist, then leveling does no good. You’d just be leveling a twisted top surface.

    The main reason us truckers put a twist in the strap is to prevent wear to the straps. If its fluttering like that it can rub the strap on the corners and cut it.

      @jimwhitman5805 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used the one twist on my straps to stop the flapping, but also if it started to move after that it was loose and needed my attention. Some of our Provinces up here in Canada have rules against twisting the strap which I find a joke, but who am I but the one who gets it in the end...LOL

    thank you for the video and all that info... I was just wondering if breaking up the table into segments and assembling it together will result in the loss of any flatness . It would be easier to transport and also we can add more surface later

    Great video. I’ve been wanting to build a table to. I wish we had a water jet or plasma cutter access around here. I wanna have power on the table to run a welder, grinder etc. Make a video of the welding cart. What made you decide on the miller and not Esab or Lincoln or a different one?

    • @bleepinjeep
      @bleepinjeep  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are a ton of good welders out there these days. I've worked in numerous shops and some of the oldest machines that are still used on a daily basis are Miller products. I feel like they are a tremendous value for the price plus they are generally on the cutting edge of technology. I've been using my Multimatic 215 quite a bit since filming this video and I am honestly impressed! It welds great on 240v put what surprises me the most is how hot it welds with only 120v power in put. Stay tuned for more vids on the unit.

    Is that seamless tubing? I ask because I bought some 2, 1-3/4, and 1-1/2" to try your slug method but they don't fit inside each other. Seems like the seam on my tubing might be the culprit.

      I went to college for metal fab and welding. Realistically though if you just apply for an entry level welding or assembly position at a local manufacturer you'll get in. Production welding kind of sucks but if you do it for a year or two you'll be a super good welder!

    I have a strange question so I have a XJ 4 door I noticed you have a 2-door XJ I have tried to find differences or a four-door versus 2-door a video on TH-cam but there is none that i can find I'm a very tall man I stand at 7 foot I have modified my seat bracket in my Cherokee to fit me my question is the doors on the two doors appeared of be larger is there more room from the dashboard to wear the back of the seat sets in a two-door versus a 4-door Cherokee that is my question this video I very much did enjoy and to all the naysayers I cut without a guard on my grinder to I have all my fingers

    Great table!! I have been looking for a welding table/ build table. I'm thinking maybe 3-4 tables 48"x 36" with notches and bumps on the ends to lock them together. Got the idea from Poison Spyder build of Crispy. They have tables that have drilled and tapped holes which would be nice but would get up there in $$. Like your idea with those clamps. Old dog new tricks!! Hmm I5 straight south big hole in garage and home, I have winch on trailer....LOL

    • @bleepinjeep
      @bleepinjeep  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'd need a perfectly flat floor to link tables too. Neat concept though!

    • @jimwhitman5805
      @jimwhitman5805 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your right about not level.... One would have to have screw pads to adjust and level them all even, or have a rail setup to put them on. first off your table fits the bill in many ways before tackling major frame, or structure work.

    dude! You really should spend the 250 ish dollars and get a table top metal band saw. WEN has one that miters and does 5in cuts. I have one and it is the best metal cutting tool that i have ever bought. Im just a do it yourself-er like you guys
