    The difference between this and other wide shoes is that it's anatomical meaning that the big toe gets the most space vs. the others the end is shaped like a triangle squishing your feet. You really do not understand anatomical shoes until you've tried them, you'll NEVER go back to regular shoes

    • @trainershatehim
      @trainershatehim  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had gotten used to wearing vivobarefoot shoes during my day-to-day, so I totally know what you mean. In the case of the TYRs, something I did miss was the little extra midfoot width from a Romaleo 2 or Anta, but most lifters are tight around the midfoot nowadays anyway.

    I get so many compliments on the roms "rawdacious" colorway, I almost cannot not lift in them. However, I did just order a pair of the L-1s only because I like trying different things to see the difference for myself. Even if I don't like them, weightlifting shoes have a way of going up in price through the years so I'll have a nice little collection in time. I have way too many weightlifting shoes. :)

      I got a pair of the Rawdacious ones to replace my black Roms, I totally agree with you. I also have to agree about the lifters, many of them end up being little collector's items! Keep growing your collection friend, your wallet will be empty but your soul will be full.

    • @trainershatehim
      @trainershatehim  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you're right, TYR's are definitely bigger. The Asics are handmade though, so I'm sure every shoe is a little different. I've heard from a couple others that they felt a good amount of toe space in their Asics, especially when compared to Adidas/Nike shoes (including myself).

    • @sbtraining1769
      @sbtraining1769 ปีที่แล้ว

      There ade definitely nice things about the asics, the wooden heel is nice. But i think its wide compared to most "weightlifting" shoes which just run narrow like all shoes :/ you're not wrong they are technically wider than most but I can definitely tell the tyr was made with wider toe box. I've been wearing 5 fingers for years at this point so my feet are much to wide for anything else, felt crammed atleast my toes in the 727

    • @trainershatehim
      @trainershatehim  ปีที่แล้ว

      In that case, all you have to worry about is the function of the shoes, which is probably for the best. Everyone has their preferences.

    Great review, Joey! been waiting for it.
    I cant even look at my Romaleos 4 now. I feel the cracking feeling of rolling internal tissue in my small tow. Rom4 for me are a very upsetting buy.
    I've been lifting with the TYR for arounf 2 weeks now and they are much better than Rom4 and I'd say even better than Romaleos2. I got the Black/gold which blacks out the Big logo and makes it classy. the SquatU logo is small enough to tolerate :).

      I definitely understand how you feel about the Roms. At first I really hated them, they had to grow on me over time and now I find it hard to go without their stability in lifts. I'm glad you're enjoying the TYRs too - hopefully they're a shoe you can enjoy long term, I feel like they're going to be well-liked by the community.

    Just watched your video and really enjoy your honest review. Been doing lifting for about 2yrs and I decide to buy lifting shoes. Could you please help me to decide:
    1. Since it's my first lifting shoes, is TYR suitable for me?
    2. My Vans' size is perfect at 42.5, does TYR has to be sized up or just the same size?

    • @trainershatehim
      @trainershatehim  ปีที่แล้ว

      I appreciate your comment! I personally think the TYR shoes are perfect entry-level lifters. They get the job done and are relatively comfortable. That's all you need in a lifter. In terms of sizing, I'm not exactly sure how they would compare to Vans, I haven't worn any in ages. Going with your same size might work just fine, but you should do more research on that before you make your choice.

    Hi,
    Would you recommend these to improve/help deeps squats? I cant naturally deep squat due to flexibility so I have to use a pair of 5 libs discs to elevate my hills if I want to deep squat. The discs are around 1.5cm thick so I wonder what heel to toe elevation should I be looking for in squatting shoes. Sadly, shoes like these arent easy to find locally in order to give it a try so I have to blind order online instead.

    • @trainershatehim
      @trainershatehim  ปีที่แล้ว

      So these are a more typical heel height for Weightlifting shoes. The Rogue website says these have a 21mm (or 2.1cm) effective heel height. These should definitely help in your case. There are a few lower/higher options depending on what you want, but most lifters will be around 2cm.

      @trainershatehim  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I loved the Asics, but ultimately gave them up to wear shoes I thought looked better, especially with the red fading. They're easily one of the best pairs of lifters ever though, no question. And no, I felt the same usual heel height, but since they're handmade perhaps yours are slightly different?

      @booleann___ ปีที่แล้ว

      @@trainershatehim Gotcha. I have the white leather ones, so I don't think I will experience the same fading that you did--but who knows, only time will tell! And yeah maybe they are higher? I was also theorizing that maybe the heel-to-toe and is steeper than my other shoes (Anta 2's for example), so that maybe makes them feel higher as well. All I know is, as a tall/long limbed lifter I need all the help I can get, and my bottom position feels the best in the Asics.

    because of the toe box room should I get a size down? I normally wear size 8-9 and 9 when usually the shoe is not wide and has narrow shoe. It's almost impossible to find wide shoes for my flat wide feet so I normally wear 9. How tall are you btw? Just depending if I should get 8, 8.5 or 9

    • @trainershatehim
      @trainershatehim  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t think you should size down. I always go with my normal shoe size (8) in training shoes AND Weightlifting shoes. These were more comfortable because of the little extra width and toe room, but when I first put them on they were still tight around the balls of the feet. Loosening the laces and training in them for a day fixed the issue. I would go with your most normal size for these. 8-9 is a big range but I think 8 would be too tight for you if you’re used to 9. Rom 4's are almost exactly the same as the TYRs, the Velaasas are a smidge heavier at 18 ounces, and I don't have any Rom 2's but the Antas were significantly heavier than all of them at 22 ounces.
