    Hey ! I got this amp for a year and a half, it is a banger ! I paired it up with bookshelves and the sound stage is amazing. Thanks for the review :)

    I have slight thump ( pop ) when powering on /off coming out from my speakers is that normal for this amplifier? I just got brand new unit .

    I bought the M2SI because of this video now I just bought the M5SI at a steal and I’m hoping I become as impressed as I did with the M2.

    Hi! I have the M6i and love it! Speakers have comed and gone but the amplifier is still here after 12 years! . 200 w/ channel in 8ohm so it runs most speakers 😊Have the M6 cd player too.

    Hi. A great review, thanks! I just got this amp and ordered a Wiim Ultra as a digital source, I love watching concerts and EDM straight from TH-cam connected to my TV. Do you think this will be a good match?

    The M3Si is different different from the m2si. The M2si is basically the old M3i
    The M3Si has
    - more power output (80WpC)
    - a phono stage
    - a DAC built in
    - a dual mono architecture

    Great video. I currently have an Elipson heritage xls15. Do you think the ms3i is good? Or is it better to use the ms5i? I'm so undecided.

    • @ThriftShopReviews
      @ThriftShopReviews  13 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@gliamantidelsuono9219 it really comes down to sound quality first and then power. With musical fidelity you get the same sound quality at different power levels. So get the model that has enough power for you. Not withstanding the higher end models can be different.

      I had one for about a year and a half. Sweet sounding amplifier. I got the upgrade jones and upgraded to a Musical Fidelity X-P200 with a Rogue Audio Model 99 tube preamplifier. Now I have my eyes peeled for another X-P200 so I can use the two as mono blocks (260 watts into 8 ohms with 75 amps of current).

  • @jari121

    How would you compare this to the Rega Elex-R amplifier? I kind of liked the sound of it, but it couldn't produce controlled bass from my large diy floor standing speakers. Now I've used it as a preamplifier for the XTX Edge A2-300 class d power amplifier and the sound of the combination is great and the bass is completely under control.

    • @ThriftShopReviews
      @ThriftShopReviews  ปีที่แล้ว

      Never heard the rega amplifier so hard to compare. I have the VTV hypex class d amp and it also controls bass rather well. The control can be too much for some speakers but sounds like you like so roll with it. Get a good tube preamp and be amazed how much more the soundstage opens up. Thanks for the comment.

    • @jari121
      @jari121 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ThriftShopReviews Thanks for your reply. I also have an Audiophonics HPA-S25ONC Hypex power amp in another set. Yes, I like the sound of the new class d amps. A tube preamp would probably be worth a try. I have no experience with them.

    • @ThriftShopReviews
      @ThriftShopReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jari121 anything class a helps class d amps open up. You can go full size class a preamp or use a headphone amp that has preamp outs. I love Schiit headphone amps as a preamp. I’ve used the Jot as a preamp for years into my VTV and Aegir. The Jot is class a bias. If you don’t know what tubes you like then it can be a fun experience to learn. While I’ve spent way too much money on tubes it’s fun and finding a NOS preamp tube that delivers is amazing. It’s all about the journey my friend. Happy listening

    Would it be wise to buy the Musical Fidelity amp or wait for the newer model, with a newer/better dac?
    Since this amps is from 2014, almost 10 years old? The reviews are all so good, but the amp is reasonably old.

    Thanks fir this informative review.
    I have a question.
    I am building a modest 2 channel system. I use Totem Acoustic Tribe floorstander speakers, a Parasound Halo dedicated P5 preamp.
    I am looking for a power amplifier.
    I will most likely go for the Parasound Halo A23+ cuz it will be a great match. I love the warm/less analytical sound of the Parasound Halo gear. The build quality is excellent. But I was curious how the amp reviewed above would sound with my Parasound preamp.
    Can anybody describe the sound of this line if Musical Fidelity Power Amplifiers?
    I know that both these audio manufacturers are direct competitors in the industry.
    I welcome names of other well established companies who make Power amplifiers in these price ranges...under $2,000.
    Thanks Everyone

      Sounds like you might like the Yamaha as-1200. Warmth and smoothness for days. The musical fidelity is transparent in power amp mode. Whatever the preamp you is the sound of it.

  • @davidstein9129
    @davidstein9129 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    BTW, I have ruled out PS Audio Power Amplifiers. They are highly nuanced and detailed but lack warmth.

    I had the m2si for a few months. It sounded lovely with wind and string instruments but the bass was dreadful, no punch or control, plenty of presence but nothing else. It has a tilted up treble too which i didnt care for. The pre amp in the amp was the weak point in my opinion which was easily bettered with a ifi pre amp in HT mode.

    • @ThriftShopReviews
      @ThriftShopReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wonder is the M2SI and the M3SI are really the same amplifier minus a few features? I agree the bass is just a tad loose with a damping factor of fifty. I found the preamp to amazing as it allows clarity without coloration or smoothing. Soundstage is amazing through the preamp. It has made closed off limited soundstage integrated amps sound amazing when used as a power amp. Perhaps it’s system matching along with speakers? Perhaps it’s preference also. Like baskin Robbin’s my favorite flavor might not be your favorite flavor.

      @@ThriftShopReviews no its different architecture inside to the m3. Id spoken to an amp tech guy who confirmed that. Yeah the pre in the m2 is cold and thin sounding, with the ifi pre i used, it improved it a lot. Ive heard the m5 and m6 and they were excellent.
