Thanks Mike! great video.. easy to understand with lots of great info! I'm upgrading from a QNAP T251d, I've ordered this unit along with 2 x 4tb M2 MVME's and 2 x 16tb Ironwolf pros, a 2.5gb swich & card for my PC can wait to get it all hooked up and running. Keep up the good work!

Looks like a great bit of kit that does !!! I have 2 NAS at home but should I need another this would be on me wish list. Thanks Mike and Kath.

For media consumption this is top notch and with Synology starting to step away from the video side of things it could create a good gap in the market for ASUSTOR

I use a single HHD to backup me things.
but love the idea of a NAS. Thank you very much for the Review/How To 😀

that is wonderfully simple to do and to manage, sometimes we overthink the process and it adds more complications to an otherwise straight forward task.
I think you probably have the right idea already

@@mikesunboxing Yeah as a normal user. but some one like you needs a autobackup. 😀

Interesting review and yet again a step forward with 4 nvme bays included. Until recently i wondered why more nvme only units existed, until you explained the durability of nvme/ssd and how hdds still ruled. Like Sir Bodie I use an hdd as backup but thinking i need to reintroduce my spare 1Tb hdd back into a pc. Thanks Mike and Kath 🐈👍

data security is something most people don't think about until after the fact. I know a number of people that have lots valuable files and irreplaceable photos and videos that could have so easily been secured.
It isn't cheap but what price can you really put on memories and security

@@mikesunboxing That is so very true Mike. Having lost drives over the years I have tried to keep more than one copy of all family photos. Hoping I need to simplify all the separate folders and split over two hdds. Looks like my itx build shelved 4 time being!

Thanks for the video, I note you didn't mention that the SATA drives can be 2.5inch while the docs for the NAS say it's supported. Can you confirm if that's the case?

yeah sata 2.5 or 3.5 are okay

Can you please review the new msi G244F E2. I looked the whole internet but couldn't find the OSRTT test result of this monitor to know it's real performance. Please help 🙏🏻.

Does Asustor AiFoto 3 let you choose a custom save directory? (Will it let you choose M.2 SSD as save directory or is it restricted only to the home volume directory if its on a 3.5 HDD)?

Nice piece of kit. But at a basic price of 500 euros, my question would be, "what kind of person would need this?" Anyone with that kind of money to invest in a storage device, probably has an old PC or 2 hanging around. Granted they don't have the specific storage specialisations, but if I wanted a NAS, I would simply re-purpose my old PC.

repurposing a old pc is a good way to do it but not very efficient or small enough to be discrete. With a dedicated NAS appliance you are paying for a turnkey solution, just pop some drives in and your done.
Re using an old pc can be a good way to get used to the idea of more centralised data storage though
