    Not sure if this has been mentioned(didn't read all the comments), but overfilling can cause the seals to blow out. 250ml is the correct amount for the rear diff, so not sure if that's why your seals leaked.

    Rear diff doesn’t go to bottom of fill hole. Rear diff is 250ml capacity. I suggest running bellows to help keep water out of the diff.

    • @MainvilleATV
      @MainvilleATV  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      250ml is damn close to the bottom of the fill hole, no issues yet!

    I wish I had seen this before. I had to figure out much of this in repacking the rear wheel bearings. The long rod that held both trailing arms was a PITA. Breaker bar, plus extension, plus a neighbor to break the nut loose.

    My dads 1k xmr has it’s diff grinding so he had to replace the gear connected to the drive shaft or whatever you wanna call it but yeah that happened and got it replaced and works like new again😂

    I’m hearing they changed the diffs on the 19s which apparently now is causing problems with the rear short axel from what iv heard. Talks of a recall some guys were saying.

    • @MainvilleATV
      @MainvilleATV  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very true. Stronger straight cut diff and the cheaper out on the axles.

    Great job, but I would have rather thought that the water had entered through the vent pipe as is often the case.

      I thought that at one point too until I saw the wiper on the axle seal, she was cooked

  • @racey1111
    @racey1111 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I often hear about the temp difference as the reason they draw water in. Isn't that what the vent tube is for?
    I agree with your statement that the XMRs perform the best and that's why I keep buying them but quality is shit.
    2017 850 with 1700 km and I've had to rebuild both rear podium shocks, replace rear diff seal, replace all rod ends, replace 2 rear and one front axle and winch solenoid.
    I will keep buying XMR's but my new utility SxS is a Honda 1000-5.

      @@MainvilleATV I bought a complete diff from them so I got it quick. Didn't know it would take that long to send off and get back. I know you want no down time, especially during riding time. Maybe down the rd you could get hooked up with a new mud and wheels rear diff to try out and also keep your stock one to have two diffs. If one ever goes out you'd have another to throw in and keep on riding and fix broke one when convenient. Just want you guys to be able to keep on going for us to enjoy more videos you create. Great job with your channel and business man! I hope to be on your level soon with my channel once I can get all my videos edited and uploaded.

    Halo makes an e locker for the Outlander, ship them your diff and they will install it and ship it back, your front axles will thank you

    • @alphapackoffroad
      @alphapackoffroad 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The e locker is a nice option but the cost of it compared to doing a torq locker is a huge difference. For $300 you can have true 4x4 with the torq locker.

Its 600 cdn for a torq locker, you think that machine is a handful now with those assasonators, just wait till that torq locker kicks in on the trail when you least expect it. @Yippynutsmacker 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@WolfinWolvesClothing713 "when its kicked in" I know a few mud racers 8n the Houston area that have installed those lockers and ended up taking them out, the machine with big tires is too unpredictable and goes where it wants, sometimes pulling them right into the wall. If full time 4wd is so great why do none of the manufacturers do it? Because it's dangerous, hard on the machine and not verry practical
