    I know it depends on the luck of the draw and the silicon lottery, but what about manual overclocking capability difference between these two specific cards, did you try getting the max clocks out of them, if so could you please share the number here with us, thanks.

    I have gtx 1070 g1 gaming, it has a little of coil whine, but it never surpass 67 degrees celcius at full load, and its pretty silent . I love it.

      Got the same card here, I think it's great for the price. using vsync fan stop is on most if not all most all of the time, max 64 degrees. No coil whine, only when I play say CS:GO vsync off and it's doing crazy FPS.

    Hi, I have the two cards and was wondering if these could be used together with the sli bridge?

  • @DueM
    @DueM 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Would be more interesting to see the overclocking results, you should try it without unlocking the voltage if you are worried about damaging the cards. I heard somewhere the 10 series gigabyte cards have bad mosfets in them but it doesn't seem to hurt their scores. I'm looking at a asus dc 1070 vs an asus strix 1070 personally.

    In UK this gtx 1080 g1 gaming was 619gbp and gtx 1080 xtreme gaming was 679 but i still bought gtx 1080 xtreme gaming because of bigger cooler much bigger fans 2 power connectors and more oc headroom, i have r9 290x winforce oc and i know how loud can be 3 x 80mm fans, ofc tdp is 300w not 180w but they could done like 90mm fans instead of small ones like 80mm

      Any Nvidia GPU featuring GPU Boost will go higher than the advertised boost speeds, they have been doing it for a while since we are up to GPU Boost 3.0 now 8-]

    Nice vid, do you think when the 1080 TI hits next year we will able to have ultra setting and game at 4k? Or still 2 years away (1180 TI 60fps 4k ready?? lol). I'm going to stay on my cheaper 1070 for now, since I only run 1440p.

    • @TechShowdown
      @TechShowdown  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I would say so, the 1080 Ti is going to be a slightly cut down version of the Titan XP so it should have similar performance to that

    Have you experienced any fan defects or bending? I plan on purchasing this card but gotta get some feedback I heard there were a few problems ... would you recommend to buy xtreme or g1?

  • @garybarnet3488
    @garybarnet3488 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Was going to get a new 1070 or 1080, but then saw a used Aorus 1080 xtreme for A$675 and grabbed it. Not bad considering they are around $1000 or more when new. And until you actually hold it, you don't realise how big and heavy they are. But love the fan stop function for normal use, all that copper weight and size really helps, even in light gaming, you see the fans stop. Thanks to those huge fans and heatsink, I haven't seen it get over 60 degrees yet (haven't done any major overclocking, so haven't really pushed it yet). For a nonwater-cooled GPU, that is pretty good. Thanks for the Gigabyte comparison (the only one I could easily find), it helped validate my purchase.

  • @ekdromoi

    G1 used to mean something.
    nicely binned, .. custom pcb,
    now all the 10 series cards pretty much perform the same.
    wtf is the point of buying aftermarket,
    and why does gigabyte need 3 different versions of cards that perform identically anyway?

    Goes to show its not really worth paying $400 extra for the Extreme edition, I seen that G1 Gaming card on special round a bit for about $1000. All of the 1080's perform fairly similarly. Even if you threw in a reference gtx1080 without an overclock you would have a small % of FPS difference.

  • @MaTtRoSiTy
    @MaTtRoSiTy 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    G1 Gaming 1080 is a great card. Got one as a warranty replacement when my Founders Edition failed. Though other than the factory overclock, the Founders performed just as well with manual OC, also breaking the 2ghz barrier comfortably.
    The G1 wins for being cooler and quieter but the Founders cards look nicer with their angles and quality finish....

  • @DeltaSierra426
    @DeltaSierra426 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Not worth the extra $50. The cooler is more premium (metal vs. plastic) and obviously does a better job cooling, but a 1080 Windforce has no problems cooling the 1080 even OC'ed -- you'll hit the silicon's limit before you hit the temp limit in most cases. Also, I don't want a 2 1/2 slot fatty in my case; a 2-slot cooler is just right. This is Pascal, not Hawaii.

    First of all: Nice video, I really enjoyed watching it ! :)
    But here are 2 Things you might improve in the future:
    Before taking B-Roll / Photos of your cards you should clean them from dust and fingerprints!
    Once you notice them, its really annoying and looks kinda unprofessional :x
    And you should use the Points for Heaven Benchmark, not the Avg FPS!
    The Points are way more accurate :)

    • @TechShowdown
      @TechShowdown  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      All my benchmarks are accurate, I always test them twice to make sure the results are consistent and within like 0.2fps of eachother, that's why I don't use the GTA 5 benchmark as it isn't accurate at all.

    I really don't care which one is faster. It will give you 3-5 frames more,but the look of Extreme version is really sexy.And i really appreciate the better cooling with lower noise!I will buy the Extreme version for 1080p.I know you will say it is overkill,but i don't want heater next to me while i am gaming.I want my PC to run quite and stable while i am enjoying my games at Ultra settings!I don't care how stupid you will find this. :D

      can you do an overclocked video for g1 and xtreeme gaming
      best clocks for g1 gaming are +120 core +500 memory

    • @TechShowdown
      @TechShowdown  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can do one for the G1 since that's my personal GPU but not for the Xtreme Gaming since that was only borrowed

    • @ludiqpich198
      @ludiqpich198 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ah ok no need i have the g1 as well , to tell you the truth the biggest gain you can see are when you oc the memory cause all gtx 1080 suffer from serious lack of bandwidth ,i have calculated that you need to oc the memory to 6384 mhz for optimal performance wich is impossible so we are stuck at 5500mhz losing around 10 percent possible performance , the coolest video you can make is comparing 960 vs 980 and 1060 vs 1080 demonstrating the scalability of cuda cores in larger gpu's

    • @ludiqpich198
      @ludiqpich198 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** if you overclock 1080 to 5500 mhz memory and downclock 1060 to 3666 mhz memory in theory 1060 should be exactly on half of the performance of 1080 ,after that when you overclock 1060 to 4700 mhz seeing the performance rise showing how much we are loosing cause of lack of memory bandwidth on a 1080

    • @ludiqpich198
      @ludiqpich198 8 ปีที่แล้ว
