My SO and I always love it when you show yourself failing at certain things, like the cigarette lighter in this video. You always have a positive outlook about things even when you fumble through them. That's a good quality to have and it's very inspiring. Thank you for your videos!
I'm almost 60 and watching your videos takes me back to my roots of truck camping. I had a 1987 Toyota Tacoma regular cab 5 spd , with cab high topper. Thanks for your content.
Your shooting/editing these last few videos has been particularly enjoyable. Loving the mixture of silence and narration and the closeup shots. Sets a mood. Looking forward to following the rest of your journey south. Happy trails!
I would love to camp out in that landscape. The lack of vehicle noise, electrical buzz, and background urban sounds is something to behold. It can be strange at first, but I find that peaceful.
Check the fuse within the charge plug itself. In my experience, the fuse can blow when not making solid connection with your cig outlet. Resistance and heat increases and fuse blows. You mentioned bumpy roads which can make the connection poor leading to the fuse blowing. As a result, I hardwired a charge cable to my truck battery with a switch. Good luck and you are my favorite channel!
The charge fuse itself... would that fuse be on the Cigarette lighter itself? I'm basically having the same issue with rear 12V in my Chevy Conversion Van. Can't lower down the queen bed or move it so I've put off any serious camping trips until I can find and fix the issue. I don't believe that Chevy's Explorer Company Vans has any manual release on their 12V power rear Sleeping Beds.
@@pamelaklemp5615 There is a fuse you can twist off from the barrel plug of the cable. Usually a cylinder style fuse. Obviously make sure its not your cig port and try a different one. Sometimes the plug can even melt from the resistance, like mine did, lol.
Woo glad you got the video uploaded. What a beautiful spot, but being a wussy from CA 30⁰ F is Cold! For me at least 🤣 bummer about cig lighter. Try unscrewing male end of plug from power station. Those have a fuse too. Ohh but wait none of ur cigs were working. Check under hood maybe fuse or relay there. Or hmm maybe has something to do with ignition since they usually dont get power unless ignition is switched to ON. Hmm hope u figured out. We have to collectively be able figure this out 🤔🤞
What a unique area! Really beautiful! StarLink definitely worth it. Weird how your truck rolled like that. See you next time!❤ You know, those landscapes look as if you're on another planet dude. Awesome place to be. Just be you and Kya ❤
You are one of my favorite TH-cam channels. I’ve been watching you from the beginning pretty much. I never usually comment but just wanted to give you a positive boost. What a beautiful journey you were on. Keep up the good work, my friend. Cheers.
You should power your Starlink mini off a DC port on the battery pack. That way you’re not loosing efficiency from the Anker battery DC to AC inverter. The plug itself is converting AC power to DC. So you’re potentially loosing extra juice
Hey Jonathan, you probably already know this but you can hook up a Buddy heater to a 20lb propane tank by using a standard propane hose with a fitting that screws directly onto the tank valve; just make sure to use the correct adapter to connect the hose to the heater, and always check for leaks before use
I have a Goal Zero battery with a similar portable solar array and have always had trouble placing the panels in an ideal spot while being connected to the battery while it's in the truck. IT HAS LITERALLY NEVER OCCURRED TO ME TO JUST TAKE THE BATTERY OUT! Thanks for this critical unlock LOL
The cigarette port may not have enough power to charge your power station for an extended time. I experienced something similar when trying to power a fridge/freezer through a cigarette port. It would power up for a few minutes and then shut down without blowing the fuse.
wow! This is so spectacular place, jonathan thatt' s what i love in your videos they are all interesting & unique. Looks like a desert it' s fun having an oasis there. Enjoy jonathan. Thanks
The majestic ranges and rock/clay formations with the music to match were so awesome! I'm sure the solitude would heighten that beautiful experience, but brrrr. Cold just watching, lol.
Ok just a thought but if you had some extra wire you could run it directly from your battery to on of those outlets temporarily n have one working u til you could fix the problem. Carrying a little extra wire, tape n connectors come in handy when u need them.
There are tents available that attach to the rear of the truck and camper. There is a fly that goes over the top of the camper. Very nice and cozy. Only downside is that sometimes we have to roll up the tent wet and dry it later.
I suffer from tinnitus too, ringing in my left ear from an ear infection when I was a teen. I have to listen to music when I'm going to sleep to drown out the ringing. Fun stuff lol
You cracked me up when you called them “Hyenas”! 😂 I really like your minimalist setup. Basically roughing it and your dog is so happy! Also video editing like that makes me have no excuse to not edit my videos in a cozy coffee shop. Keep inspiring buddy. ❤your content. I had to come back and edit this comment- let you know the whole rolling off your leveling blocks and you shrugging it off was also hilarious 😆
Squatch loves to move vehicles. 😉 Good to see you making videos again!! The camper would be my choice, but I'm old, and it feels safer than sleeping in a 3 man sack lunch. 😅
Check the cigarette plug. On bumpy roads the cap on the end of the cigarette plug, that holds the fuse will vibrate loose. It’s happened to be a few times.
If you haven't figured out your charging problem yet, check the wires coming off your battery. 12v Cig ports usually ran off your battery even with the ignition off. Also, it's an older truck, and someone might have put an additional fuse at or close to your battery. Just something to look at.
Great video. Thanks! P.S. I’m loving my Northern Lite 9’6”. The 300ah Epoch heated battery is amazing and fit in the existing battery box. Happy adventures!
Did you try with another adapter? There should be a fuse within the tip of the charging piece that you stick into the cigarette lighter (not part of the cigarette lighter). The piece you stick into the cigarette lighter socket usually makes contact with metal tabs in the side of the piece you stick in (contacts walls of cigarette lighter) and there’s the very tip (metal tip that contacts the base of the cigarette lighter). This metal tip usually has a fuse under it. You should be able to twist the end piece off (male portion that you insert into the lighter socket). You should then have access to the fuse. I hope that explanation is ok.
You need a Pecron 500 you can get up to 500 watts going into your power station. Charge while you driving. Way it go. I got one for my truck game changing no more solar panels.
Consider mounting your Starlink Mini on the roof using a temporary mount and powering it directly off the vehicle 12V system. You can do that with a USB C charger and the appropriate cable with a USB C termination or by using a DC/DC voltage booster and new cable. Plenty of directions on the internet and youtube. The important aspects are that the USB C charger has to be 100W rated and if you use a voltage booster it should boost to anywhere from 24V to 48V. While the dish also accepts 12V, people report issues using vehicle 12V because of voltage drop in the wiring. If you do the above you can use Starlink while driving without depleting your power station. In most camping situations you can also just keep the dish on the roof and use it there but if necessary you can remove it and use it in the conventional manner. Happy tinkering.
look into the bluetti charger 1 - can charger you powerstation by 500w wayyyy higher than cigarette. Connects right to battery and can send it all the way to truck bed. Good alternative to solar. Also - digging the new vids. road trip content is the best
Fun video ... thanks Jonny! What is Tessa doing while you travel? Miss her for sure. You're so brave to take apart the Toyota on the road! I hope you figured it out, my friend! 😃
Y’all should use a 180 watt Xenobot power inverter with 220v universal adapter, uses a “nano” 80 watt fuse bridge which prevents any power surges or power loss due to unexpected interference from inadvertent disconnecting or inadequate power source.
Be careful with those hyenas the zebras might be in short supply this time of year. @17:25 Using a magnetized screwdriver tip should prevent screws from falling off. Keep a magnet in your tool kit to magnetize any ferrous tool as needed. Re: lack of electricity at dash cigarette plug. You are assuming that because the connectors are secure the total electrical connection is good. You need to test downstream from the cab fuse panel. Odds are that it is a disconnected connector but if not, you have a connector not making good contact on the power to cig. lighter contacts or a break in the wire. My vehicle is infamous for the dash gauge panel connector intermittently losing some gauge connectivity while still connected. Often there is a forum dedicated to your vehicle which makes searching and educating yourself on the idiosyncracies of your vehicle easy.
LHC, Quartzite are warmer this time of year and some interesting spots to explore. Also a trip to Texas coast, starbase might be fun, take in a rocket launch....
Hopefully you sort out that electrical issue. Buy yourself an inexpensive hot water bottle, after you boil water for cooking fill the bottle, it'll keep you warm for several hours!
I have the EcoFlow Delta 2 Max power station with the EcoFlow alternator charger which will charge my power station at up to 800 watts vs 100 watts through the lighter socket. You may want to check it out for future trips.

I am 68 still overlanding on my first gen 4runner. Love it!
Your shooting/editing these last few videos has been particularly enjoyable. Loving the mixture of silence and narration and the closeup shots. Sets a mood. Looking forward to following the rest of your journey south. Happy trails!
Dude your past few videos have been on another level. Amazing work!!
Appreciate the support!!
DUDE
Nah, we want more dead end camper renovations…
/sarcasm
Agreed
Usually the vehicle cigarette ports can’t actually handle charging a power station. But you can wire in a dc to dc to change it off an alternator
I charge my Bluetti through either the dash or cargo area 12 volt outlet all the time without issue
@ hmm newer vehicle? Typically the older stuff always pops the fuse
Get an Odyssey Battery
Wow, that drone intro is beautiful, perfect choice of music. What a mystic place. On my list. Thanks
I remember the sleeping in my car in a Walmart parking lot video. You've come a LONG way dude congrats! 🎉
insulating the bed floor with plywood and outdoor carpet really adds comfort
What a spectacular opening Jono, it's like a Hollywood Production. Absolutely awesome video.
I would love to camp out in that landscape. The lack of vehicle noise, electrical buzz, and background urban sounds is something to behold. It can be strange at first, but I find that peaceful.
Yeah I think it would be different, I don't think I could tolerate the cold though. I would just keep trying to be warm.
Leslie Gulch! Whoa stunning, was there in the summer with my Model X! Fortunate and beautiful day!

The opening was beautifully shot!! Got to say this one was a super fun watch. Keep up the great work bro
Just love the drone videos. As many times as I have been there they show much more than I have ever seen.
The intro is sooo good
Sir, you are living your best life - don't ever stop.
Wow……the drone footage in the intro……..just wow!!!
Such a pleasing video to watch on a sunday morning with coffee !

Thanks for the great videos! this inspires me to go out on an adventure without the bells and whistles of a camper
Money shot at 20:39, totally ad worthy. 🔥🔥🙌🏿
You’re very handy taking the dash apart
Yep, I do like the geology of these areas. Interesting. Been there and surrounding areas.
Stoked you’re back to posting brother. Not many channels like yours. Keep doing what you’re doing !
could also be a fuse in the plug that attaches to your jackery.
Could also be the DC plug connection that goes into the power station. I’ve had a couple of those just stop working and had to get a new one.
You should power your Starlink mini off a DC port on the battery pack. That way you’re not loosing efficiency from the Anker battery DC to AC inverter. The plug itself is converting AC power to DC. So you’re potentially loosing extra juice

i have tinnitus too. i feel your pain brother, hang in there and keep grind up.... hopefully youtube gods will be in your favor
You’re killing it,man. Keep it up!

So glad you finally left Oregon and are exploring other parts of the US!
You’re a confident guy to tackle these problems! Admirable…Enjoy the silence wherever you find it.
Beautiful drone photography
The cigarette port may not have enough power to charge your power station for an extended time. I experienced something similar when trying to power a fridge/freezer through a cigarette port. It would power up for a few minutes and then shut down without blowing the fuse.
Good video. The People like simple camps, simple gear and a simple truck. No fancy needed 🎉
Opening montage and music is epic... date i say Hollywood movie opening epic. Great job
wow! This is so spectacular place, jonathan thatt' s what i love in your videos they are all interesting & unique. Looks like a desert it' s fun having an oasis there. Enjoy jonathan. Thanks
Your video began and I thought I was watching the beginning of a professional movie scene! Great job!
top 5 you tube channels for me bud keep up the good times
Beautiful spot. Thanks for giving us a look see.
❤❤Wow that place was awesome. Safe Travels and thanks for taking us with you. We had 2 ft of snow and 6-7 ft drifts so 21° sounds warm. 🥶🥶
I purchased my camper/shell from USA Camper/Martin after watching your video. Love this video, great cinematography!
You had quite a time with frozen water and dead cigerette lighter...BUT you are an excellent problem solver. Good video.
Nice opening, great overview..Camping location good choice, rock formation awesome. Kaya pooped. Look forward to the next camping trek....
Lovely video shots today. Thank you

Hello, keep an eye on Kaia, it is mating season for coyotes ! Love your calming music🤗. Enjoy your adventure.
Keep rockin bro, inspirational ❤
Yes it was beautiful. Good job Jonathan. ❤❤
There are tents available that attach to the rear of the truck and camper. There is a fly that goes over the top of the camper. Very nice and cozy. Only downside is that sometimes we have to roll up the tent wet and dry it later.
Keep the water jug in the cab of the truck wrapped in a blanket.
Coyotes tipping because they may have made a kill. Invitation to the pack for a meal.
gazelle tent and a buddy heater would be a quick and easy setup to get out of the cold
I suffer from tinnitus too, ringing in my left ear from an ear infection when I was a teen. I have to listen to music when I'm going to sleep to drown out the ringing. Fun stuff lol
Absolutely beautiful, thank you. I would never pick that setup in that climate.

Awesome views, great camera work. Thanks for sharing
Breathtaking views. Thank you!!!

I felt like I was playing Skyrim again the first several minutes of your video. Peaceful. Awesome work!
That was interesting, kind of spooky. Glad you’re heading south. Be careful and take care.✌🏻👍🏼👍🏼
Love watching your videos!! Keep it up 👍
That was damn cute when you pulled back the sleeping bag
Wow, that was an interesting place, but it was probably the right time to vacate after the truck mysteriously rolled off the leveling blocks. 👻😦
Great video. Thanks!

I hope that explanation is ok.
Great scenery during the intro. Enjoyed the entire video, too.
Man, you take gorgeous shots of the landscape!
Jonathan, You might want to check the actual adapter plug to the solar generator, sometimes those have a in-line fuse.
Happened to me too. It was the cigarette lighter adapter connector if fries fast
You need a Pecron 500 you can get up to 500 watts going into your power station. Charge while you driving. Way it go. I got one for my truck game changing no more solar panels.
Central Oregon is great Enjoy!
Did you also check the fuses in the fuse box under the hood? There is one in their that also goes to the 12v cigarettte plug.
Came here to suggest the same!

The area you are in would be wonderful in spring to fall weather - warmer.

Good spot and good video, keep it up
Those views are incredibly beautiful

Another great video as always Brother 👌
Hyenas had me LMFAO😂🤣
Keep up the videos Jonathan!

Two videos this week amazing you I just bought a truck shell high rise so I can travel/camp just like you

Hope you got water for Kaya!!❤️🐕❤️
Definitely get some chock blocks. Had it been a steeper hill…
