That's better fitting for the OG fans. They're the offensive ones most of the times. The others are mostly retaliating.

there was a fight scene in the skylanders netflix series between "skyro" and what is essentially a corrupted version of classic spyro and "skyro" got his ass kicked 3 times in a row(possibly even more) and yes i remember that time i was blazed out of my mind while watching neflix

I grew up with all spyro games. Skylanders got me into The legand of spyro, and TLOS got me into the OG spyro. So from my experience you can enjoy all 3 spyros if you just try. (You don't have to if you don't want to)

You could say I'm a universal Spyro fan, I love Classic Spyro (I've played it since 1998), Legend Spyro (since 2006) AND Skylanders Spyro (since 2011). Each of them have their up and downs, flaws in both story and mechanics, but I still find them all enjoyable as I grew up. I've been through the savage fan wars between Classic vs. Legend, and Classic and Legend vs. Skylanders, which made me a bit bitter towards the Spyro fanbase by how they act harshly and negatively. Yes, I'm also aware that most Spyro fans want Spyro out of Skylanders, which in the process will take away someone else's childhood just to satisfy their own.
Sure, a remaster of classic Spyro can happen, but Spyro will STILL be in Skylanders anyways, thanks to his toy forward compatibility, the developers' choice in adding him in game cutscenes or not, and his main role in the Netflix series. Skylanders fans can have their Skylanders games, while Spyro fans can have their respective solo Spyro games too. Everyone can win that way.

I am a die hard Legend Of Spyro fan, mainly because I love the combat in it and I love the story. But I know that without the OG Spyro my Spyro would never existed and without the Skylanders series I would never of been introduced to Spyro. So I Thank both OG Spyro and Skylanders Spyro for giving me my Legend Of Spyro.

I grew up with TLOS:DOTD so I've always been in love with that game and the others. I played Skylanders and TLOS with my friends all the time, and I've been in love with Spyro as a character ever since I was little. I've owned DOTD since before I can remember. I LOVE the original Spyro games, but I love TLOS a bit more because of the nostalgia and memories I hold with it; it was a huge part of my childhood. I'm not against any of the games. Their fans can be crazy, but the games themselves are great. Spyro as a character is great. Thank you for this video!

When I was 5, I experienced my first ever videogame; The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon on the PS3.
    When I was 6, I got to play the classic Spyro 2 & 3 on a PS1 & 3.
When I was 8, I got to play Skylanders.
Now, I'm 18 and I will always love all 3 and what's coming next.
TLoS will always be my favorite, but as long as a videogame has my purple boi in it, I'll always love it, no matter what.
Get ready for a 4th fandom; The Spyro Tridome - we love Classic, TLoS and Skylanders Spyro! 💜

As a relatively new fan of Spyro games, having played the two big trilogies all over the course of this past year, I can’t say I’ve had much experience with fighting between fans. In fact, cousins of mine had been playing Skylanders for years before I ever even saw a Spyro game (I never saw Skylanders, I only knew they liked it).
Now, after playing them I would say I truly enjoyed the original trilogy on the PS1. I see why people who grew up with them loved them so much.
However, being a similar age to most “OG Spyro” fans, but without their background, I naturally felt drawn to the Legends trilogy for its darker tone, deeper story and (arguably) more developed characters.
Now I’ve said it: I’m in the middle camp. The one marked “TLoS Fans”. We’re in this rough middle ground where we face flak from the “OG camp” for all the differences inherent in our Spyro (our “Frodo the Dragon” as I sometimes say), but then we align with them against the “Skylanders camp” in mutual disgust at what he has become.
However, we also see the other side of the fence; the side where *another* group of young people were introduced to *another* little purple dragon with no knowledge that a previous version existed. We know what it’s like to have games we, really kinda like but, are also pretty disappointed in* partly because of what they represent; because we have this great character, who we all love, and (in TLoS’s case) so much work was invested in background, and story and characters, only to be severely questioned due to tone change and differing game design.
In short: we dislike Skylanders Spyro just as much as the “OG camp”, yet we can’t help be feel sorry for the fans who love him anyway, and who have to put up with our crap. Because he is their “original Spyro”. We may view him as “a wolf in Spyro’s clothing”, but to his fans our versions are much the same. It’s the same with any character who has been remade, and to be honest, everyone has their own unique perception of their favorite character, even people within the same “camp”. But as long as we understand and respect that different, it really doesn’t matter.
And that is why, to me at least, the “Legends camp” is so quiet. Because honestly, we all love Spyro. And that’s what’s important.
    * side note: A New Beginning and Eternal Night are not much fun - gameplay wise - after long stretches. great character, lackluster game
    So live,

    Here's my opinion:
Original Spyro: Ignoring the graphics (I know it was exceptional for the time, but having been born in 2001, I can't stand them) I get that the story and character were both enjoyable so I see why it had so many die-hard fans.
Legend of Spyro: Looks cool and the story is interesting, but I'd never play it.
Skylanders: I love the series and hold it in high regard ever since I saw the first commercial in 2011. I get that retro Spyro fans were a little unnerved by Spyro's "change" but I really don't see Spyro as like the center of Skylanders. You could make a strong argument against me about the first game (and probably the Netflix series) but I see the series/franchise as a whole and Spyro isn't really the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Skylanders
In case it isn't already obvious, I'm a die-hard Skylanders fan and will remain so for the rest of my life. I get that Spyro had a series before him and millions of fans who adore him but still. I don't have a problem with people who like different versions of Spyro, but what I do have a problem with, is people who bad mouth Skylanders for "stealing Spyro" and eventually it becomes too much. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but when they try to force that opinion on others and turn them against a certain version, they cross a line.

This video means a lot and hits hard. We can't go around dividing ourselves up and pitting ourselves against each other over the character that has been with us throughout all of our childhoods. You said it best when you said that it isn't right for someone to take away one's childhood to satisfy their own. I personally am a TLOS fan and have played all of the versions of Spyro ( except for a hero's tail and I plan to play it someday) and I understand the circumstance and the distaste towards each other. Skylander's Spyro is much different from all the rest and appears to have been used for a cash grab. OG Spyro is what happened and not what is happening. TLOS fans try to stay neutral and end up not knowing who to support. We got to stop all this negativity or atleast try and dile it back as far as possible. We need to become THE Spyro fandom and not The Skyro fandom, TLOS fandom, The OG Spyro fandom, or even The Hero's Tale Spyro fandom. #OneDragonOneFandom

I had the absolute joy of playing TLOS first and then I looked at the OG Spyro and thought it was out of this world. The legend of spyro games may not have good combat or actual gameplay, but they have an amazing story. Especially with the love bond between Cynder and Spyro in Dawn of the Dragon. The Original spyro games are fantastic and I was so happy when the reignited Trilogy came out and I can't wait to play it in a couple of days time (gonna get myself a bit of merch as well). In gameplay and combat with platforming, it is the best all round game series but it did not have a deep enough storyline for me which I love in a game, but I still think it is amazing and I have no problem with it. The Skylanders Spyro, I do understand where people are coming from. I don't like the fact that they completely changed his figure, but he is a character in it none the less and we have to accept it. Don't get me wrong, the Skylanders games are amazing and great fun for people who played it when it first came out, plus the company did very good with the netflix series, but Spyro was kind of.... Removed from his actual status and that I don't agree with.
I am a Universal Spyro fan and I love the Legend of Spyro series for the storyline and the relationship between Spyro and Cynder. I also really like the OG Spyro because it was the first and there were no flaws with the platforming and actual gameplay. I'm okay with Skylanders, I don't like what they did to Spyro but it was fun for people who put him on a portal and brought him to life. We can't keep taunting other people on what they agree on or what they like. Spyro is a character who brings joy to everyone and not a thing for everyone to shout and taunt at each other for. I have no problem with any of the Spyros in different Universes and whatever your opinion is.... IT IS YOUR OPINION! Hopefully the community realises this and the fighting stops. This took me too long to write haha but it's what I think, I hope you agree with me.

I played all three, my childhood years were spent on classic, teenage years had legend, and adult years... played skylanders with my nephews. I just loved the purple dragon in all three versions, of course I found flaws in them all, but also found things I liked.
In order my top 4 game series' I have ever played are
    Clasic Spyro
    Zelda
    Legend Spyro
Skylanders (mainly because the fun playing with my nephews and little brother (he is turning 12 this month, I am about twice his age lol))
I have a different kind of nostalgia for each. The OG was my childhood, in my teenage years allot was going on and my family was having a hard time and the legend games were my escape. in my twenties my kid brother and I and my nephews all took turns playing skylanders.
    so... for me...
    OG = childhood
Legend = stability in my time of need
Skylanders = Fun with the family.

I would always think about them first but late as a teenager that mentality is slowly disappearing. you have awaken that part of me. lately I have been feeling suicidal but then I started to think. what would happen if I actually did it. my family and friends would suffer from losing me. now I want to be selfless again my love for every, thing is coming back and I have legend spyro to thank for that he is as big,of a hero to me,as my dad. peace and love to you all

As a die hard Legsnd fa, its obvious this trilogy has the better story from these three version. Even though i also love OG spyro world, the plot used to be over the place only held by charming characters, just with no developement of course (theres small exceptions like Bianca but you now what i mean).
And, even i dont know much about Skylanders plot, searching info about it its ofc a typical story of good vs evil totally held with the gimmick idea of toys to life, we could say the world if functional and kinds whinsical with the idea of floating islands, but not that much of course

I got the original Spyro practically day 1 because I played a demo. I loved all three. I went to college around the time of the ps2 release, so didn't get a ps2 for quite a while, and then I could only rent dragonfly. I could also only rent legend, and I did enjoy it, and did want to get it, but only got the first one recently. Like this year. With a limited game budget, Skylanders is too expensive to keep up with as well as buying any other games, but I have actually looked at it with longing. I respect that each of these is a different style of game, playing off of a different set of imaginings. I loved og. I laughed at how "god of war" legends was, and then played it until my rental was up, and rented it a couple more times. I can't really judge Skylanders without playing it, and if it is even a good game, not even great, just good, I would be happy to like it too.

I like all the Spyro eras and games (well, the games that I have played, I haven't played all of them). I do have a favorite, being the Legend Trilogy, because Dawn of the Dragon was my first Spyro game and I loved the heck out of it, even though it's super hard, and I kinda have a least favorite being Skylanders, but only because it doesn't FEEL like a Spyro game to me. It feels like a completely different game. It's not a bad game, and it's actually really fun, but it's just not what I think of when I think of Spyro. Nowadays, when I hear Spyro, I think of the OGs, which I really like, but not quite as much as the Legend of Spyro. I mostly like Legend because it has a deep story and it's nostalgic. And I'm really excited for Reignited. Part of me's really hoping they'll go on to remaster future Spyro games.
-preferably the legend trilogy but that's kinda biased-

I personally loved all 3 types of Spyro, and I still do! In order I played TLOS 1, Skylanders Giants, Skylanders Spyro's Adventure, Skylanders Swap Force, Skylanders Trap Team, Skylanders Imaginators, Spyro Reignited Trilogy and then TLOS Dawn of the Dragon, the last being in 2019! I love all series and I always will! Reason? I like the OG trilogy for it's wide and varied areas, and collectathon approach, and simple mechanics. I love The Legend series for being story and combat driven, and found a good compromise in Skylanders for doing both. I liked all the designs (slightly less so Skylanders) and both control okay! (Besides Legend Spyro. Even though this one is my PERSONAL favourite, the controls can be a bit wired) I want the community to come together, in the exact same way that Canadian Guy Eh says!
Sorry for the life story, but it just goes to show that even though I first played one, then the others, it doesn't mean that I can't like them all!

It seems like every Spyro fan forgets that A Heros Tail exist. That game was lit asf.
But yeah. I played Skylanders when I was 12, so I do have a bit of a soft spot for it. I only played the first and giants because those games where coming out way too quickly and was way too expensive for me to keep up. Also I felt like the Skylanders designs where becoming too human-like.
I grew up with the legends series so I definitely love them, so I was equally as pissed to see Spyros new design. But I liked the other Skylanders so I kinda learned to ignore it after a while. But I still really don't like it. Like wtf where they thinking??
I really did try the original games. I really did, but i get motionsick only after 10 minutes. I'm serious.

I think all three iterations of Spyro have their highs and lows. Here's my take:
    Spyro The Dragon:
Highs: Original trilogy, A Hero's Tail, Reignited Trilogy
    Lows: Everything else
    Legend of Spyro:
Highs: Story, Cynder (to a degree)
    Lows: Everything else
    Skylanders:
Highs: Gameplay (for the most part), character variety, world and themes (for the most part)
Lows: Toys-to-life implementation and prices, Spyro's redesign (I don't hate the redesign, but I've seen better)
Note: While I agree that Skylander Spyro's design was pretty rough looking at first, it did become more refined as the series went on, finally becoming perfected (relatively speaking) in the Netflix series, Skylanders Academy. By the time that show rolled around, the rough edges that had earned him the nickname 'Goblin Spyro' among old-school fans had been buffed out and he looked sleek and, at worst, presentable. Still not as good as Reignited Spyro, but getting there.

I grew up with OG Spyro but in my opinion I Love all 3 of them. After Spyros fall after his first trilogy I was worried he would be gone but then came Legend and I personally LOVE it both me and my best friend she is more on the legend side. And with that Trilogy I had hope Spyro will live on especially with the much more darker mature story line. And then came Skylanders at first I wasn't sure what to think of his new look but he grew on me and I loved playing the game and I bought most of the skylander games and figures and I love them all and now with the Reignited Trilogy on its way I will be so happy to see OG Spyro again but here's something I want them to do to please ALL the fans. Have different skins for Spyro so you can play as Classic, Legend or Skylander and it wouldn't effect the story but it'll bring the 3 tribes together in peace.
No matter what happens after Spyro will live on in all of us together.
    SPYRO FOREVER!!!!!!!

I grew up with TLOS. I love story driven games, which, at the end of the day, that's what it was, it was Spyro with more story. I always thought the original Trilogy was bad but I thought A Hero's Tail was the original trilogy. I got Reignited on my Switch a few weeks ago and I bloody LOVE it, I love the collecting of everything, it reminds me of my favourite series, Pokemon. Yes I am 22 years of age. No I don't have any shame. But something about TLOS will always hold my heart

Well it's been a while since this video was uploaded, but what the heck? I grew up with the original trilogy of Spyro games, but I don't know if that makes me an OG fan. I really liked portions of A Hero's Tail and I enjoyed the Legend of series. The Legend of games always came out right around my birthday so it was always a special little treat for myself. I haven't played any Skylanders or even watched the TV show, but I don't have any strong feelings about it one way or another. It makes people happy and it has that whole toy element that, like you said, makes a kid's imagination go wild. I know I would've loved that if I was their age.
I've always been of the mind that Spyro as a franchise is like waves, each with it's own iteration that people just have to ride out. Skylanders is still pretty popular, but I know a re-launch is probably something Toys for Bob will be looking at in the near future. With the Reignited Trilogy hitting shelves this Fall we can see how sales do, my estimate is it might be weak at first but gain traction around the holidays. Anyway I'm glad the little purple dragon is a part of my life and I'm happy that's been a part of many others for 20 years and counting.

This video not only left me touched, but also had me thinking about a particular argument I went through last year. Over a year ago, there was someone who liked Skylanders and I helped out someone who used to my friend back then to bash him by posting an hour long response video on that Skylanders fan. Looking back recently this year, I was ashamed of what I've done. I shut down my old TH-cam channel (Atheurer1) due to a lot of problems I've been going through last year, and don't want to harass people anymore. If I could go back in time, I'd refuse to make the hour long video that is no longer on TH-cam to respect this one particular Skylanders fan and actually end the pointless fight that my former friend started (who is now nothing short of a toxic Halo fanboy). Now I don't harass people for liking Skylanders anymore, and enjoy what I'm passionate about. You really made an excellent video, Canadian Guy. I just wanted to say thanks for making this video. I don't think I could come to any clear conclusions sooner if you didn't make this video. Keep up the good work, man!

Dude....you literally just made me record a voice memo for my personal experience being an OG hating on Skylanders.....let me tell you, it's not going to be the easiest thing to be put into a video. I'm going to try being real as possible in it, but I also want to find ways of being as respectful as possible...I'm definitely going to put instances of either implied or definite rudeness, but it'll to be expressing my feelings in regards to these things....
I will say this one last thing before I actually start on the video, however: I used to be a loving OG that _heavy_ disrespected Skylanders fans, but I'm done being a jerk to Skylanders fans for liking what they like. I still won't support the game itself in a way Activision would get revenue or someone would get an idea that I "like" it by buying it second-hand (I'm actually thinking of using the Exodus plugin for Kodi to watch Skylanders Academy), but damn, man....talking about it for the first time since I've made this channel.....that's going to be hard for me. Really, hate becomes scary to revisit once you realize what it's doing to you.

I'm an OG Spyro fan, and the reason I want Skylanders to disappear is the awful business model, that's basically a sugar coated way of selling on-disc DLC to children. Remove that aspect of the series, and I doubt it would have gotten more than two titles.
If, and ONLY if, Activision decided to continue the Skylanders series without the toys-to-life business model, I would be okay with Skyro and Classic Spyro coexisting. Otherwise, it would be better for the gaming industry if the series just disappeared entirely, just like microtransactions and lootboxes.

It's actually not. Unlike lootboxes the content isn't randomized, you get what you choose. You still have a cool collectible figure that you can use in future games. And you don't get shafted in your progression. The whole game is playable with just the starter pack. The most you'll miss is a few collectibles here and there, nothing major or anything that affects your gameplay experience. The thing that bothered me was that I had to buy physical toys and I couldn't just buy virtual DLC. I didn't like filling my house with those toys cause to me most of them were just gate openers for completion's sake.

I grew up playing the spyro from enter the dragonfly ( one of the first few game cube games I had) when I was 5 or 6, but never really got the curiosity to know more, it was just like " ok, another game for me to play". But recently I looked back on enter the dragonfly and considered every version of spyro games, i found a liking to the legend of spyro and hope to play after college. But from them all, I think of original spyro and legend spyro, for different reasons. I like original spyro because of his personality, but I like the legend spyro because of his powers and the kind of combat and breath weapons, and the upgrading of his breath weapon and getting different kinds of armor. I want a spyro with all those things, not really a frodo spyro, which is pretty much what legend spyro sounds and acts like. But all us fans have their ideal spyro, on their own or a combination between two versions. And everyone should respect that, because I do.

  • @jewelfyrenation
    @jewelfyrenation 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Thank you so much for saying this. This needed to be said.
My opinion on all three is somewhat mixed. I was raised on The Legend Of Spyro series along with A Hero's Tail from the OG series. Til reignited came out, I didn't pay much attention to the original due to how I was raised, but I loved and still love TLO Spyro. Now, I absolutely love OG Spyro as much as The Legend Of Spyro. I think the main reason for the hatred is because of people comparing one Spyro to the other...and I completely understand the hatred to an extent. The show on Netflix for Skylanders had me interested in trying the game, though I'm not in any rush. I originally looked at Sky Spyro as odd-looking and different, but if you don't compare it to the other two versions and treat it like it's an entirely new thing, it isn't that bad. I would'nt say it's better than the other two, cause nothing can top the other two, however I am saying that despite this game not being as good as OG fans may have hoped, it was a good concept, especially in the terms of a child imagining toys coming to life.
What I hated so much about the Skylanders Spyro was not that much of the fact that Spyro looked different, but the fact that the best characters from the other two versions weren't there. Sparks, the trusty color-changing sidekick of Spyro was no where in sight. Hunter would've been a fantastic addition as well, even as just a minor character, and I would've loved to see Elora as well in one of the other two versions. Sadly, not even Sparks was there, but Cynder was! I had hopes for Cynder, given how great I believed she looked. She was definitely way better than Spyro, however, from what i've seen, they completely changed her attitude. I loved the sassy, chill Cynder from TLO Spyro, and the fact that not only didn't they have Sparks but they changed the personality and coolness of Cynder made me taken aback.
    Spoilers ahead:
The Netflix show was entertaining, especially when it came to Spyro learning about himself and his kind. Though I didn't like how they made Cynder, her being evil Malefor's daughter and her having to deal with that made me intrigued, it kinda reminded me of the book series Warriors, by Erin Hunter. I kinda was hoping for more at the end, him meeting his family, or something along those lines, but I remember them leaving as "he went through a portal to go find his parents or whatever" and that was it.
In conclusion, I absolutely love the og and tlo Spyro franchises, but I don't know how to feel about Skylanders.
Those who like what you like, stay awesome. We have freedom of opinion and we should respect that, and no, bullying people for liking a certain version of Spyro is NOT opinion-based.

This video is pretty old but I’m still going to say something, I am 19...I was around the right age when the first sky landers came out and like every other kid I knew at the time I bought it. This was the first time I ran into this character and he was one of my favorites, I only really played the first two games because they kept pumping out more and it became hard to keep up with. Fast forward to sometime earlier this year, the reignited trilogy is released and my favorite youtube gamer started playing it. I watched it all the way through and decided to look up to see if there was more games. This is how I came across TLOS. And though repetitive...the story ( very LOTR like) enraptured me, and the level designs( also those GLORIOUS looking cutscenes) took me in. While I enjoy the other versions...I really do think that TLOS is my go to reference point. So yeah...definitely a TLOS fan more so than most other things.

Spyro The Dragon was the first video game I remember playing. I've loved the original trilogy for years and years and years. I play it still and love it.
But when I picked up Legend of Spyro years later I understood that it had a lot of value too. I like the art style, the story, the characters, the elemental theme. Playing the game itself can get very repetitive and boring at times for me, but the levels themselves were interesting enough to look at and(asides from wanting to stuff Sparx in a jar) I enjoyed what I've played of them and intend to play through them all.
Skylanders I haven't played a ton of, but my brother and I own a fair number of them and still play through the games sometimes together. I'm 20, he's 15. It's not the most engaging thing in the world to us, but it's fun and something easy we can do hanging out together. And again, some of the concepts are really cool. I would have loved it had I played it really young as well. I don't consider it a "Spyro" game, because you have the option of playing the entire game(at least the ones I've played) without using him at all. So I don't consider them connected. I appreciate Skylanders as an entirely different entity. I don't even need to justify it with some "it's just a purple dragon named after the legendary Spyro) they just... aren't connected.
I appreciate that the different Spyro eras have different appeals, different audiences, different expectations. I've wished for a long time now that original style of game would be revived(and with re-ignited it is!) but I respect the other iterations of Spyro for what was done well. It's possible to like all three. It's possible to dislike or hate one or two of them, but that doesn't give them the right to be cruel to other people for something they enjoy. Let people like things! It's not anyone's responsibility to make others feel bad about something they care about just because one person deemed that thing not good enough.

My father had ps1 so I have played 2 of the original games (I'm playing the third right now) but the legend of Spyro series is always going to be the best in my opinion, I played it when I was younger and didn't really understand english, so I was so proud of myself when I finished it. Skylanders, well I absolutely love the first one. I have played all the games, the problem I have had with it since the beginning is, "why they always make new skylanders?" I'm somewhere between an OG and a Legend fan. I was a fan from the beginning and I love the original games with all my heart (yes that includes A Here's Tail, Shadow Legacy, the gameboy games [well not Enter the Dragonfly but who can blame me...]). Also while I recognise that Legend isn't perfect I love the story, that universe, characters like Cynder and The Chronicler, and all of Spyro's abilities in those games, really fun to play and overall I think I prefer them. Also I have no shame in saying I hate Skylander's Spyro (who I don't even count as a real Spyro) with a burning passion, it's partially for the look (which is a significant part don't get me wrong) but the biggest reason is the fact that it's not really Spyro's game; he's not the star of the games. For me Spyro is a character that HAS to be the star of the show, if he's not the main guy then it doesn't count to me, no matter if it's the best game in the world. Our purple boy is just too special a character to be in a game that's not about him, that's my reason and nothing can change the way I feel.

OG sypro fan here, grew up with the first 3 generation of games but I only owned the 2nd and 3rd games (and had a demo of the 1st I think but could never find the full thing in the stores). But one thing is certain, the Spyro games are probably the games that killed my PS1 tbh i'm surprised the discs didn't melt or transcend into several different dimensions by creating their own black hole with how much they were spinning.
Imho, i'm just glad it sounds like OG Sypro games are making a return, to some extent ofc, its not going to be 100% spot on obviously. But still, I get to relive (kinda) a simpler time and forget that i'm breathing in the real worlds rotten air for a while, and the kids who grew up with the skylanders version can see where their spyro and his roots came from and from what generation. Without OG spyro, there is no Spyro alternative... and thats exactly what the modern sypro is: an alternative.
These remakes, no matter your opinion on them, are for the og generation of kids primarily. They are for everyone else secondary (aka new audience), yet all are equally welcome to play them. I feel like these remakes will give the OG fans some recognition of the respect of what made Spyro great. Again, no matter of your purity view of a remake, you have to admit, this is the OG kid's time to shine and take pride in a real spyro game.

When I was 11 one time I met up with some friends at there house. They were playing this game on the ps3 that I had never see before. I asked them what it was about and they just handed me a controller and said pick a charterer. I looked around me at all these toys and I picked up this character who had drills for hands. I didn't know at the time but he was called drill sergeant. They told me to put this character on what they called a portal and I did so. I was shocked as I saw this character come to life before me on the screen. I was playing as him. We played through this grass level with a stone man boss fight at the end. The moment we were done playing I knew I had to have this game. That year I got it as a present for Christmas. I played the game like 100 times falling more and more in love with it every time. There was one thing I found strange though. The name spyro seemed familiar to me even before playing. There was no other skylanders games at the time so I did some research to find out more. I learned of both other spyros that had come before and I spent months tracking down copy's. I loved skylanders at the time so I wanted to know everything about spyro, he was one of my favourers even in a game filled with characters. I played every game I got my hands on. I found that I loved the old games as well. Classic spyro, legend and skylanders were all amazing to me. Im 17 now and I still love spyro. I never understood why so many of the spyro fans who loved the old games hated the skylanders games as a child but as an adult I see it clearly. That's not to say I hold anything against skylanders as the games hold much of my childhood and I am grateful for them introducing me to one of gaming's most amazing characters. All am am saying is that spyro in any of the three forms Is beloved by many. To fans of any of spyro's game I say this. Do not attack fans of other spyro versions. He may not be the same spyro from your child hood but he is spyro to many other. For some of your reading this I know you agree with my love of all spyro's games and are looking forward to whatever spyro does next. I am looking forward as well. This argument is pointless and with everything I have said I hope that some of this pain can fade away, as the rage of every controversy does. Now with the remakes on the horizon I am looking forward to reliving part of the happiness from my childhood. Lets all come together to celebrate the purple dragon and the memory's he has given us. Thanks for reading.

Square Eyed Jak is very interesting person because he is a Classic Spyro fan and he likes Skylanders series.
He has pointed out the strengths and flaws of each Skylanders games.
He even noticed how Spyro's Adventure was influenced and pays some tribute to Classic Spyro.
I highly recommend to check out his Skylanders reviews.

I personally was a kid in the last years of the first PlayStation, but funny enough i couldnt play any spyro game even having tons of ps1 games with me (maybe bad luck with my parents), and then when i was a 14y teenager i heard about the OG Spyro, played his first ad third game and i found them pretty charming, specially the third one being one of my favorite ps1 games. But, just by curiosity in those days i also searched for a spyro game in the ps3, and the first one i found was TLoS Dawn of the Dragon and that one practicly blew my ming at that age. With that one i also played NB just a bit and a coupe of sessions of EN but after all found the third LoS as the better one, including its post credit scene (so powerfull).
Now with the reignited i remember when Spyro earned an special place in my heart even wishing an impossible Dawn of the Dragon remake wich never be a thing but never could really hate that reboot due they were just their own thin with a charming franchise, i hread people who loves the originals but hates LoS, and just i can say theyre "nostalfags" due the only argument they use is "the oldest games were better", never saying exactly why or "the reboot its a crap" with the same mindset. So i perfectly loved the OG and TLoS in equal with their achives and mistakes (yeah even the classic ones have their really noticeable flaws)

In my experience the only side of this fandom “war” doing any fighting is OG trilogy fans. Legends and Skylander fans are constantly on the defence form purest. “It’s to dark.” “that games for babies.” “Those aren’t “REAL” Spyro games.” I literally never see anyone attack the Original trilogy with the bitter hatred the g1 crew do.
Let people like things. Skylanders has its own charm. The Legend series has its own charm and the original trilogy has its own charm. How about we not gatekeep. All these games are valid even if you personally don’t like them. Some one else dose and theirs nothing wrong with that.
This might be easier for me because I like all 3. Plus my shelves look really cool with all my skylanders they were expensive but they are really hight quality toys.

You gotta remember that the Wii was a crazy hot item back in the day, coupled with the Skylanders franchise. Those two were a match made in heaven, and I'm guessing those sales likely came from parents looking for something for their kids to play on the new console, and I'm sure Spyro wasn't the reason people bought the game. While he's still a character in the series, his role is hardly important, especially after the first game.

For me, I love Classic Spyro and LoS. They're so different that they may as well be two completely different franchises, but they're both perfect at what they each try to do. OG Spyro tries to be a fun, colourful, free-range collecathon with lighthearted humour and it succeeds gloriously. LoS tries to be a darker more linear playing beat-em-up and it is exactly that. Both are tons of great fun in their respective genres. Personally I find that the most common reason OG fans don't like LoS is because they go into the games expecting the ol' classic lighthearted collectathon, and so they of course get disappointed when it's not what they wanted. But it was never trying to be what they were looking for... It's like going into Breath of the Wild expecting it to be like Mario Kart. Breath of the Wild is a good game, but if you're looking for a Mario Kart experience you're gonna hate it...

Funny thing, I actually grew up with the Original Spyro, I liked the Legend Series (it's soundtrack more than anything), and when it came to Skylanders the only thing I really hated about it was Spyro's design, and how they kept shoveling sequel after sequel out the door using spyro as Leverage.
I know about the whole buy the figurines can be classified as DLC but here's one thing you can't do with DLC and that's bring em over to a friend that also has Skylanders and play with them there. Kind of reminds me how I use to bring memory cards to my friends house to play the save files.
Not to mention some of them have interesting backstories that I wish they incorporated into the game. Like Hex's backstory; apparently she actually fought Malefor and in a desperate attempt to seal him away, she conjured a spell that not only got herself killed (or transformed into an undead element as they say) but it also blew away Malefor so bad he had to rebuild himself as half-machine.
At that point I'm thinking: "Why aren't we playing that chapter!?" Later when Malefor came back and was assaulting the academy (and was winning) they had to crash an entire Battle-Ship into him, tie him up to an anchor and throw him off a cliff. Like wtf? Why couldn't they include this in the game?

I am mostly a huge OG spyro fan and yes I was sad when Skylanders came out, but I've played it. And it's fun, I actually have a favorite Skylanders character. The villain, but only because he sounds like invader Zim which makes him pretty funny, and an awesome villain.

As a child I grew up playing the original Spyro games because of my brother and I loved playing Spyro it was fun for me as a child and it’ll forever be despite that my brother’s PlayStation 2 doesn’t work anymore I’ll forever remember how fun they were to play. As the years went by I discovered the legend of Spyro games I admit they weren’t my favorite but I didn’t hate them either I found them decent even though it wasn’t as much fun as I found in the original Spyro but fun to pass my time when I had nothing to do. When Skylanders was released oh boy was I disappointed on the way Spyro looked, he looked nothing like the Spyro I grew up with he was so different that it made me not want to play Skylanders because of he’s change but I never hated him I just never wanted to play the game based on what the gameplay was.
Do I hate people who played Skylanders? Absolutely not I would just wonder why they would play it but as I watched this video I realized they never knew the Spyro I grew up with and the Skylanders Spyro they played is the one they know and love. Fandoms have there ups and downs but I never want to interact with the people in the fandom because I’m scared that I’ll be in an argument that I don’t want to be in. I just want to want enjoy talking about the show/video game that we love and not get into an argument about who or what is better.

I happen to like both OG and LoS Spyro, having grown up with OG, and later LoS spyro. My opinion on skylanders
    spyro.
Like many, i'm sure, i just don't like the skylanders design for spyro and cynder, i'm sorry, but compared to their other
designs, skylanders looks... off. Now, i would never attack anyone who happened to like skylanders spyro because
i respect their opinon. I may not agree with it, but i respect it none the less.
That being said, i expect the same kind of respect from skylanders fans, it's common courtesy after all. I will respect
your opinion as long as you respect mine. You don't have to agree with my opinion, just don't go attacking me for
not having the same opinion as you. I also expect my fellow OG and LoS spyro fans to act in the same respectful
    manner.

    • @Theagentofchaos-r5q
      @Theagentofchaos-r5q ปีที่แล้ว +1

The war started when the first gameplay trailer was revealed for Spyros adventure Spyro fans were livid for how Spyro looks and there were people who were defending Skylanders saying it’s not a big deal so basically tons of people were expected it to be a failure because of the massive controversy it had. But then it sold millions of toys and 5 million copies then Spyro fans weren’t happy about this so then six years went by and Spyro fans still hate it to this day which is unfortunate.

I'm a fan of The Legend of Spyro. Ever since my brother handed TLoS: A New Beginning down to me when I was 6, I've loved that series. I made sure I got the other two games, and still loved them. My love of that series led to my parents buying me other Spyro games like Enter The Dragonfly (bad choice on their part), A Hero's Tail, Season of Ice, and even Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. Skylanders was okay, and I had no issue with it until my brother convinced me that the new series was just using Spyro and that he wasn't important to the plot anymore. Seeing the evidence in his favor, I started to dislike Skylanders and didn't buy Giants or anything after. I also tried the classic trilogy of Spyro games not too long after, and I definitely like them, but I still love TLoS more.
Despite different opinions, I've never had an issue with any fans' opinions. Everyone has a right to feel the way they want about the different incarnations of the purple dragon. Then I noticed the hate being thrown around the fandom and sadly accepted that the majority of the fandom will never get along. Every once in a while, I find comments that are relatively peaceful regarding the three different incarnations of the series and have a bit more hope, until I see more hateful comments beneath and brushed it off and kept moving forward.
Now, this video has given me more hope. Knowing that there are more people coming to accept all three series is something that's fantastic to hear! The current state of the fandom is looking better with the ReIgnited Trilogy released. The fandom has become more lively and is looking towards the future.
I think the main factor that caused all that hate in the first place was the fear of Spyro dying out completely. We've all heard the stories of dead franchises and fandoms, and none of us want that for Spyro. After the final game of the TLoS trilogy released, I remembered being scared that there would be no more new adventures with Spyro, and that broke my heart. Now I've realized that as long as the fandom stays alive and the concepts of the franchise find a way to stick around, there's always a way the franchise will continue to live. Spyro is one of many franchises that has taught me that, one of the main two are that are super important to me and have reached some sort of conclusion that definitely isn't the true ending.
Although I never feel ready enough for the future, I'll be waiting for the bright future that lies ahead for our precious purple dragon and his friends, and I'll follow this franchise until the true ending that is hopefully far into the future.

As someone who has never played skylanders and never intends to I'm not entirely sure what the problem is gameplay wise but as for Spyro's look, story and voice acting I am defiantly sure. From the netflx series alone I knew that I hated it with a passion and then from TH-cam lets plays that became cemented in my core. Activision what the F*** did you do to Spyro!
OG Spyro was pretty much the only game that I played growing up. Since I was born not too long after the 3rd game came out, I was able to play all of them in order in the same week when I got my first playstation at the age of 4. Then when I hit 6 the legend of Spyro came out and I loved it however looking back on it now, I only liked it so much because it was new, not because it was better.
I have recently replayed both series since the remake was announced and I have to say that OG Spyro was a nostalgia trip that I hope to re-experience with the remaster. Whilst the simplistic gameplay of legend of Spyro 1 and 2 did feel more true to the originals, obviously the story, world and design in general were very different. The third legend of Spyro game might have been a good send off for that series (even giving me a character idea for books that i would later go on to publish) the change in gameplay ruined the experience.
I'm not sure what I'm trying to say here. I love both series. OG Spyro makes me feel like a kid again, full of joy and glued to the screen but at the same time, legend of Spyro is enjoyable. The story just resonates with me in some way. OG Spyro was my first and will probably always be my favourite but legend of Spyro holds a special place as well.
(Enter the dragonfly was the only game that i ever hated and a hero's tail never came out of the box, i just bought it because I wanted to own it. Again never played skylanders and have never played the gameboy or DS games. I do own both a Gameboy advance and a 3DS XL 2nd gen that I still occasionally use from time to time to play Pokemon mostly but I do not own those games.)
    Epicly long comment.
Reply with the word bonanza if you read it all.

I'm an OG Spyro fan. I can respect TLOS for trying so hard to reinvent Spyro into something more "Modern" and story-driven, even though it didn't do that well, it lost what made Spyro combat good, and it only had two good ideas(Free Flight and Cynder). But I just can't bring myself to respect Skylanders, something that exists solely to be a cheap and easy cash-grab. They specifically redesigned Spyro to be ugly, just so he wouldn't outshine their uncreative new characters too much. And when that failed, they tried their best to push Spyro as the face of the franchise again, even though Spyro the Dragon just isn't meant to be a dumbed-down pay-to-win microtransations game for babies. I won't insult Skylanders fans for liking Skylanders, but I can't understand why anyone would ever like Skylanders. I promise not to insult your reasons for liking Skylanders, but please explain to me why you like it. I just don't understand.

I love classic spyro, I played it a ton when I was 4-7. But I have to say, I enjoyed the Legend series more. I enjoyed the more serious tone to it(When I played it, I must've been around 12 or something.), I enjoyed the more beat em up style gameplay, and I also enjoy the character of Cinder more than any other side character (Hunter and moneybags coming up for second and third.).
That said, While I'm mostly indifferent to skylanders(I don't accept the business practices, but if people want to give them their money, that's them not me.), But a part of me is slightly bitter I won't get either of my favorite franchises back due to its' popularity. It's not like DMC where the reboot sucked, and there was hope we'd get another original(Which we are, Let's rock!). However seeing the remake does give me hope for classic spyro, a part of me wishes the legends series could get a similar treatment, or a continuation. In the end, I'm glad we're getting more spyro, instead of him just dying off completely.

I like the original Spyro and the Legend of Spyro. They were the games I grew up with so I understand the point you're trying to make. I don't like Skylanders, but I'm not going to bash on some kid for liking it, for I was a kid at one point who got into Spyro myself. Just a different version. I hate how there's a war between friends and I hope this helps people calm down just a bit within this fandom and we can all get along peaceful.
