Galaxy Note 2/3/4: Black Screen Issue / Wont Turn On / Display Wont Wake Up

- Easy Fix! If your Samsung Galaxy Note 2, 3 or 4 is is experiencing the black screen issue and perhaps you can still see some LED lights come on/off or even hear text messages or phone calls coming in then there is a good chance the 123 method will correct this. This will not delete any data or anything. What this 123 method does is discharge all your excess battery just like you do with laptops that have the black screen issues as well. f you still have issues then comment below and I will give you several more methods to try.

I know I personally have work to do on my Galaxy Note Edge, but I actually did the 3 minute step first. And it worked. Like discharging any other device, I felt the charge surely coming out of the phone.

Thanks! It worked at the first try. 1) Took the battery out of its compartment. 2) Pressed the power button for 1 min. 3) Put battery back on compartment and Bingo! It started.

I had no hope for my note 4, none and this actually worked!!! Just give it patients it took me about 10 tries but it worked!!!
it worked for me!! you got to be patient people and follow the steps. I held the power button on my Note 4 for 1 minute. I did this for like 3 more times and nothing. Then I did the rubbing of the screen to make sure it was in all the way I put the battery back in and it worked. thank you so much!!

FYI: My phone wasn't charging by wall plug in, plugged it into computer and it wasn't recognized, I tried turning it on but no response. I did this little trick and it seemed to fix whatever power issue my phone was having... charging now.

ILuvTrading hey, I tried this method, and it worked, weeks ago, but now my note 4 keeps suddenly turning off, and I keep turning it on with the 123 method, I'm wondering, will it harm my device doing it multiple times (at least 3 times a day)?
Ethan download an app called wake lock to prevent your phone from turning off automatically (I read about this on a Samsung Complaint Forum). Set wake lock to Partial, and keep your phone charged.

@iLuvTrading & Everyone. This blows my mind a bit but this worked. I got a new phone and set my Note 4 aside for about 2 months with a full battery. Came back at it wouldn't do anything, not a light or anything. Charged the battery independently and still nothing. So after your video, I rapped a thin rope around the power button multiple times and let it sit for 45min to 1hr. And Whala. It powered up and works perfectly. Thanks a bunch to iLuvTrading!!!

Thought my note 4 was damn dead... won't charge or turn on. Just did it like you described and just held the power button on once for 3 exact minutes using a timer and bam, it turned on after inserting the battery!

Worked! Had to make sure phone was plugged in after completely draining phone..... took about 7 tries but it did work in the end .... phone battery out.... power button drain..... battery in.... charger in.... turn on....thanks

JUST an FYI I tried this it did not work ..but I found another video that you simply put your phone in a zip lock bag and into the freezer for 10 min worked for me I'm so happy

Holy Crap THANK YOU! My phone was extremely glitchy and laggy then when I tried to reset it, it completely shut down. I wasn't able to turn it back on but, after doing this only for the 1st minute it worked and turned back on!! :DDD

Mine starting a few weeks ago lagging, freezing up, restarting. Acouple nights ago it turned off and would do absolutely nothing. No download, no recovery, no safe mode. Left the battery out for about 30 to 40 minutes and put the battery back in and it booted up, last night it turned off again and it won't do anything again! This time no luck. Still won't power up. I'm totally lost on what to do now, if anyone has a solution (besides throwing it away of course) let me know. Thanx in advance
As stupid as it sounds, put your note 4 or edge without battery on your freezer for at least ten minutes, connect to a charger and voila, it will live for at least one day or something.

Heretic Waffle I've been trying this on my Note 4 for around a year, and due to this I had to change phone battery after every 2 months cuz battery start looking like its pregnant.. But if we manually turn off phone and again try to turn on, it doesn't turn until we again put it in freezer for 15-20 mins and again turn it on..
Really bullshit phone, i was tired of using my phone this way and had to look for freezer to cool it lol..

Thank you , Just got a Note 4 from unlocked cells and wouldn't power up . This did the trick .
note 4 won't turn on. tried this tried anything i can find. then suddenly turns off. i go to charge it with no response but still charges. Attempt to turn on no response. if it does it has a large droid guy saying do not turn off in downloading mode. then nothing i continue to mess with it and droid guy still pops up....continue the 123 nothing... leave it sitting and if I'm lucky ta da it will turn on..last time 2 days later ugh...any ideas please help.. going to try the freezer now because in out of options.

I dropped my phone and the battery + case fell out. I put it back together, this happened. Tried the method and nothing shows still. Doesn't even work in recovery mode.

@@roidroid Turns out that the display cable had popped off. I found tutorials showing the disassembly of the phone so I could get an idea of where that cable is. I pushed down hard on that area, heard a click, and it worked again.

This works for me each time I have the black screen of death after my phone freezes and reboots, but it is not a permanent fix. I have heard the rebooting issue and the black screen happens is a Samsung phone issue and the constant reboot is software upgrades. My phone is my life, so for this to happen 10x a day is such a headache and it literally drains my battery 5% each time during the process.
It worked for me on three minutes :)
What do you try next if that doesn't work, opening up the back shows all good (the lcd cable was actually out but I plugged it back in), and even trying to go into reboot mode didn't work (still nothing on the screen). Would repair guys do anything else or just start replacing parts/phone?
Hi man nice video I will try this as well as I start have problem with my note 4 just one day swith off and not working at all I don't want open phone and change some parts on board now I first always try different options and I find freezer trick with working for me I can't believe that but if happen again I will try this trick and if for some reason will not help I will replace power management IC :-)

freezer trick helped me (google that), had to perform it 2 times but it worked in the end when I believed that phone is completely dead, above tricks in the video were not helpful but thank you for all your efforts
this worked for me. Holding it down when he said, then read the comments, instead of 1min i just held it down for about 2.5 mins while reading the first time. Btw my phone has been acting crazy, lagging after calls, turning off, and weird messages like "downloading target do not turn off." I have been removing my battery at least 6 times a day...

The truth is, i think my phones motherboard was dead. This trick helped my phone temporarily but then the problems with the phone persisted. I was forced to eventually just buy a new phone...

This unfortunately did not work for me, I got a Samsung Note 4 - Lights come on and all seem normal but screen completely dead even when charging. You said you might have some other thing to try?
If worse comes to worse would you say MAYBE replacing the "LCD Display Touch Screen Digitizer Assembly" would most probably be the cause ?
