I just finished a play-through of this game last week. It was so damn good. A hidden BOND gem for sure. The cast is 2nd to none & as to date the closest we will ever get to the great Willem Dafoe as a BOND villian. Currently on the last level of Rouge Agent. Great video. You have the best BOND channel around. Easily.

"There are more films in this series besides Goldeneye." It's not even the Goldeneye film the gamers are obsessed with, it's the Goldeneye game. That's what makes it so weird about the game developers keep trying to milk it for it's worth.

It's sad to see how the amount of Bond games have been reduced the past few years. There used to pop up a new one every other year, and now we've waited two years since the last one. I mean, the last two we've gotten have been remakes for God's sake! I had too much fun with Nightfire and Everything or Nothing, and I wish I could have fun with newer games.

I liked Nightfire for the multiplayer rather than the singleplayer, EoN on the other hand had awesome singleplayer and coop but lousy competative multiplayer.

I still prefer Nightfire.. I wish Pierce Brosnan had voice himself in Nightfire that was the missing ingredient to be that game perfect. Goldeneye and Nightfire are the only games that made me feel as Bond. I used to have this game (EON) but there was something missing that the other games have.

Everything or nothing was my go to game on the gamecube. Yes, I had it on the gamecube. I remember gushing over Richard Kiel and Judi Dench reprising their roles. I use to sing along to the themes of these Bond video games that one could only later access via youtube. Loving this channel. So much nostalgia.
I’ve been a Bond fan since I can remember. Bond was my everything as a child.

4:21 This level is great for another reason, though: With a glitch, Bond can fully explore the end of the level, walking up mountains and even encountering what looks like a loading meter that the game never shows otherwise.
14:34 I still love how this mode formed an inside joke between me and my friend when M said “AGENTS, YOU'VE BEEN DETECTED!” with that British accent…

Loved the stealth parts in this game and the fact it's more Bondian to walk into the room and mostly use your fists and not shoot everyone.
I never played Rouge Agent when it came out but I did a few years ago and I was surprised how good it was. No masterpiece but I thought it looked stupid at the time.

Dame Judi Dench has no shortage of voice-work. Not only does she reprise M for "GoldenEye Rogue Agent," "Goldeneye Wii," and (I think) "Blood Stone," BUT she is also the narrator on EPCOT's "Spaceship Earth" (better known as "The Giant Golf-Ball Of Doom").

Have recently been playing through all of the PS2 James Bond games and completed this yesterday and would just like to give some of my opinions.
I think instead of having Mya and shoehorning in some other random bond girl, they should have added in Zoe Nightshade, like they did in Nightfire and what Calvin mentioned in his review, that she could be like the female Felix Leiter. That was the perfect way for her inclusion in the game, also would make a lot of sense as well.
This could also be made into a film if they changed some things around, like literally remove all of the hilarious sci-fi elements or they could wait till the future when those things actually exist???...
I doubt it seeing as they already have another documentary called Everything or Nothing,
and would be weird seeing Jaws in the rebooted franchise alongside the fact it wouldn't be Brosnan or Willem Defoe reprising their roles to the film from this game.
Also for the multi-player, I played that a lot. I'm not sure if it's true, but it seemed as if you were playing the multi player alone in your review. I remember playing and completing the multi player, it was basically similar to single player, but with a lot more interesting elements as the extra player provided a lot more opportunity for a variety of game play and tactics. To be fair the first couple of levels of the co-op aren't amazing but just a set up, but from the level where you need to disarm the bombs and onwards is all great when playing properly. Although I have to admit I remember always being disappointed by the fact I could never be Bond

The Pontchartrain Bridge was always my favorite level; I would constantly try to get to max-speed, pulling off all the best stunts and getting through the level without dying.
Truth be told, I never actually finished this game; when I was a kid, I couldn't beat the boss battle with Diavlo and Katya in the Jet. For some reason, I never felt the need to go back and finish it; especially because as a game, Everything or Nothing has such a specific control-scheme, that it's not a game you can immediately pick-up, much less beat the final levels after more than 10 years.
Maybe I might go back and pick it up again; but I'd probably have to play through the entire thing, trying to get all the Platinum Rankings, before moving onto the end.

I think if there is only a couple of ways to turn this game into a film:
1: Put it into the cannon when everything is more like the Classic Bond style if that ever happens.
2: Make a non-cannon bond film like they Never Say Never Again, and recast or just do it in a Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within animation style .

I hope you'll review Blood Stone 007. It was the first Bond game I ever played, and I quite liked its 3rd person format. I think the reason why some games are in 1st or 3rd is because there are those who like to BE Bond and there are those who like to WATCH Bond.1st person offers more immersion, but 3rd person does give you an opportunity to view the game as if it were Bond in a movie perspective. Although it wasn't the highest rated Bond game, Blood Stone does have some stunning voice acting by Judi Dench and Daniel Craig, plus great vehicle chases (I mean you get to drive the DB5! How cooler can you get?). Blood Stone was what got me back into a Bond fanaticism, and it certainly kept me occupied 'til SkyFall came out.

Did anyone else notice the Tomorrow Never Dies reference here (09:07)? In TND, in the scene where Bond & Wai Lin jump off the roof of the Carver building, Bond says "Next time, I'll take the elevator." And in EoN, after the ejector seat gag in the elevator, as he's parachuting, he says "Next time, I'll take the stairs."

  • @doctorpie1019

I absolutely understand what you mean. Everything or Nothing is great on its first play through, but it just doesn't have the same replay value as some other 007 games. I wish they had carried over some of the features that made Everything so Much fun, such as the gadget variety, amazing vehicle levels, and entertaining story into subsequent 007 games but.... they didn't.
I agree, the co-op is a bit odd and halfhearted in the way it is done. However, I appreciated the addition of it. Later levels have some interesting obstacles and some fun levels too. I wish more 007 games included a splitscreen co-op feature, as it is fun to play with your friends, not just against them. I wish you had unlocked the versus mode though, oh my goodness it is bad. They shouldn't have even bothered. It is a top down arena style battle that is simply dreadful.
Oh boy, Rogue Agent! That should be an interesting review! I'm looking forward to it.

Only some of the characters can be played in coop mode. But it's amazing! The little parts where you see Bond (like 2 missions) are really nice cameos. I know you didn't play it like I did when I was a little younger, but yeah :D

    • @Jolis_Parsec
      @Jolis_Parsec 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

It’s not just cameos, but actually the co-op mode is a sort of prelude to the singleplayer mode with the ending levels being the facility that Bond “makes disappear” during A Long Way Down. 😆

The "she/they have fallen for me/eah other" gag has been done twice in this game (Katja throwing Serena out of the helivopter; Bond and answering Serena about Diavolo at the end). It has been done in Nightfire (Drake to Dominique when he has ordered her to be killed) and his has been done in Agent Under fire as fell after Bond kills Carla the Jackal That makes it 4 times this jline was used-. I need tto replay FRWL and GERA to see if the line made it in there as well. The line was great ... when it was used the first time but it got old with all thoise reuses.

Well 007 Legends went with the approach of using other bond films....didn't exactly turn out good did it? -_- Then again those were CoD reskins, and not Bond video games, course if they're trying to capture the esscience of GoldenEye 64, I can't blame them, that game is still one of the best Bond games to date despite being outdated in terms of graphics. GoldenEye is my favorite Bond film of all time, so I welcome these little references (that are done right), though sometimes you overthink them, which may or may not have just been acting for the review, but other times I can see where it would feel a bit too much. I mean it is Brosnan, and GoldenEye was his best film, atleast to me and some other people, so I can understand why there would be tons of references to it, however I'm not opposed to references to other Bond films. Just incase some of you were getting that impression.

Lenghtening gameplay with filler or difficulty spikes is a gaming tradition old as time, meant to make them last longer.
That design has never been good. Though in the era of games it was made for, it encouraged players to master a game's mechanics. Which was appealing if you were stuck with only 1 game for months.
But it's worse now in current era live-service stuff when EA, Ubisoft, Konami, etc, are bloating low-content games, then sell in-game exp boosters to compensate...

I am not hugley into games since the end of the Super NES era, but Everything or Nothing is not only my favorite Bond game, but it might be my favorite game, period. I dislike most of the vehicle levels; if real cars were that hard to control, getting a driver license would be as hard as getting a pilot license. Also not the biggest fan in general of levels that require stealth all the way through to complete. However, I did successfully work my way through the game and earn enough of the gold and platinum objectives to unlock much of the bonus content. And to me, THAT is the key to its lasting appeal to me -- the two bonus "tactical simulator" (holodeck) levels. That first one, with Bond facing off against waves of simulated bad guys with a variety of weapons, offers essentially infinite challenge. Also, some people don't seem to use the "Bond Sense" ability very much. I used it ALL THE TIME. There is no penalty for using it and it slows down the action enough (it doesn't actually "pause" the game) for you assess the threats around you and take a few moments to determine your strategy for dealing with them and surviving.
Here's a tip for those who are (somehow, at this late date) new to the first bonus level -- the most defensible position is essentially your spawn point. Especially in the early going, you can crouch and edge up to the low wall in front of you, equip the P99 in silenced mode, and take out most or all of the bad guys without them even knowing you're there. From that position, you still have to keep an eye out for bad guys coming from the left or down the ramp on your right; again, frequent use of Bond Sense is incredibly helpful -- you can sometimes use it to detect nearby threats you can't otherwise see. There are some levels where you MUST move from that spot -- every fifth levels pits you against thugs with RPGs, and you have to stay on the move and dodge and weave since those pack a wallop without a direct hit, and some other levels will pit you against armored bad guys you can defeat only hand-to-hand or with a head shot. Even the shotgun (a single-shot kill against most bad guys) will only knock the armored thugs down. Those levels taught me to almost always go for a head shot -- it helps you move more quickly through the other levels and conserve ammo. But anyway, there are levels with snipers, and later ones with a mix of RPG thugs AND snipers. Others send a bunch of guys who are already aware of your position -- and who seem to hate your guts already.
Other than the driving levels, the one level that drove me crazy was the spooky New Orleans cemetery. Creepy, with snipers galore!

Essentially, this was the last James Bond project that Pierce Brosman and John Cleese were involved in. At least it ended on a swan song for Brosman and Cleese in a way.

I'd have to argue on the front of the "death star thing" in the water, in goldeneye, the big ole satellite the Trevelyan brings up in the movie was in the water originally and probably bigger than this

Loved the game as a kid but recently replaying the Die Another Day feel to it really gives me a stomach ache. Unlike you the invisible car in DAD really didn't jell with me so, naturally, having an invisible cloak really turned me off. Even as a kid I never used it. Nightfire is still the superior game.
I actually did like the co-op mode, I played a LOT of that growing up.
Also, you didn't mention the Arena mode, which was a deathmatch multiplayer with loads of cool, enviorment based deathtraps. Hell, the last level of that had Jaws just walking around the map kicking the everlasting buggery outta anyone he could get his hands on.

What about the pre-PS1 games? I have "James Bond The Duel" for the Sega Mega Drive and "James Bond 007" for Gameboy. There's also a few Bond games based on the Moore and Dalton films for Commodore 64.

I do not mean to offend you, Mr. Dyson, but less bias in your reviews would be a welcome touch.(By which I mean, constructive criticism would be more appropriate; what the developers should have done, rather than stating an element is questionable without reasoning. Of course, this statement is irrelevant at some points where you are courteous and suggestive in terms of in-game events and plot.) Otherwise, your input concerning the overview of the game itself is well-structured and accurate. I hope this feedback will benefit you in receiving more views and subscribers on your channel in the future. Please do not ignore this, as I sincerely wish you the best content concerning your upcoming review of Goldeneye: Rogue Agent, which I am anxiously awaiting, and many more to come.
    All the best,
    ~Classroomdj

Hey, now, Rogue Agent is nowhere near as bad as its reputation. It's actually a pretty fun game; the only problem is the story. *I* would have had it that you are not only trying to kill Dr. No, but you're also running away from and killing agents of MI-6, because M has given out orders for your termination.
