Thank you for this video! It did help somewhat. Especially since there's no indication on jellyfin to let you know that everything's working you can just assume your hardware and coding is working and it's really not and I have an AMD GPU so some of the stuff helped and the rest at least pointed me in the right direction.
I don't know what direction you're going to take your videos but I cannot lie I do not want to use open VPN after seeing this speed difference from wire guard on my own computer but installing wireguard onto Docker with my OMV. Has been very difficult to understand because there are settings that aren't very well explained out there I have tried WG easy. That thing was no help if you are looking for ideas for future videos I know everybody has an open VPN one but this would probably help a lot of people because there is very little especially since there is two ways of doing it one on OMV or on Docker for OMV users. Sorry for the length of the comment. I do believe you are skills outweighed mine by far and I have been looking high and low to figure this part out
broo thank you very much… holy fking shit this solve the stuttering issue when playing hevc main10.. turns out i was not transcoding properly… Thank you again sir..
Thanks, very good it put me right on to where I needed to be to get Jellyfin's transcoding sorted out. To add to the feedback this command line code will show how well your gpu is working. "intel_gpu_top"
Great video…I use jellyfin in a docker container. If all of my videos play with hardware acceleration turned off…can I keep it off? I’m new to this and don’t quite get it all yet. I also play my videos using the jellyfin app on Apple iPads and Apple TV 4K. Most of my files are heed, h264… mov and mp4 file extensions.
Hello, it is not required to have it on. If it works for you currently. The purpose of using Intel QSV or AMD VA-API is to allow compatible cpu to process videos more efficiently when encoding or decoding.
I followed every step but when i try to change the media quality from the video player settings with VAAPI hardware acceleration on it crashes, but turning it off it doesn't. I'm using an intel pentium 2020m (that's an old processor but it should support VAAPI). Any suggestions? Thanks.
@@robwithtech Thanks for the response, I thought that the intel pentium 2020m supported VAAPI because chatGPT told me so (I don't know how reliable it can be) and when i paste "sudo docker exec -it jellyfin /usr/lib/jellyfin-ffmpeg/vainfo" into the terminal, it prints me the VA-API and driver version and the supported profiles. But searching on internet I didn't find anything either.
Hello, I haven't tested with the nvidia nvenc, as I don't have a new intel processor. But you can look on jellyfin website for more information on adding nvenc to a docker container.
Guess it’s a little late now but usually quicksync is better. I think Jellyfin docs give pros and cons for either. Mainly depends on which generation intel cpu you are using
Hello, Intel QSV is only for intel and AMD VA-API is only for AMD and supported processors/gpus. I am not sure if RaspberryPi supports hardware encoding. I don't have one of those to test sorry.
thank you! live saver. Was just getting started with this and the documentation was way to overwhelming
Thanks for the feedback. 🙂

Thank you for the feedback, I really appreciate it. I will see when I have time to give it a shot at wire guard.
Worked like a charm. Thank you very much sir.
You're welcome! 🙂
I owe you my life. Thank you so much!
Any time!
Worked very well ty, i5 9500t
Awesome!!!

Thank you again sir..
You are welcome! Cheers!
Thanks a lot. The QSV vs VAAPI was a little confusing in the docs
Glad my video helped. 🙂

Thanks for the feedback, glad I was able to point your on the right direction.
Great Guide, worked perfect for my integrated graphics with my (Intel Core i7 4771 (Intel HD Graphics 4600))
Glad it helped!
Thanks a lot.
You are welcome!
Dude you are the best Thanks a lot:)
You are welcome! Cheers!
great video thanks!!
You're welcome!
Very good video thank you helped me to setup qsv ob my omv server, subscribed
Thanks for the sub!

Sos un genio, maestro.
Muchas gracias!

Hello, I couldn't find anything on pentium 2020m supporting VAAPI. I could be wrong.

man, u are the best, thx
You're welcome! 🙂
Hi, how about for nvidia nvenc? I have nvidia on my laptop and wanted jellyfin use that? I tried your tutorial and got initialized vaapi.

which is better the QSV or VA-API to choose from ?... my hardware Zimaboard permits me to use both of them
Hello, I would say for you to try it and decide on which one performs better for your environment.
Guess it’s a little late now but usually quicksync is better. I think Jellyfin docs give pros and cons for either. Mainly depends on which generation intel cpu you are using
can someone explain how to do this on unraid?
How can I make it work with a RaspberryPi 4 if there is no GPU ?

top! thank you man
Glad it helped!
