@@loucostabile you are welcome. Thank you for adding some life to troubling times. A chance to forget, and take in something that makes us all feel better, and look for the next My Car Story.
One of the most beautifully designed cars of all time. Jaguar must've thought so too. They continued this basic design from 1948-1960, that's an eternity in the automotive world. Thanks Lou.
That is such an elegant design! Jag designers were at the top of their game in the 50's and 60's. The burgundy color with the tan leather and burl wood is a great combination. Nice car!
¡Saludos cordiales, Lou!
As you may recall, like yourself, I am a Jag owner and enthusiast. I can think of no other car company that consistently produced such beautiful machines whether they were sporting coupes and convertibles or 4 door sedans (saloons) with great performance while not being stratospheric in price or maintenance or over the top.
Wow!! Just... Wow!! Lou, I think you've found my fave Jaguar. I have always loved the early XKE's and sort of like the XK120s. However this XK140 is just over the top gorgeous, buddy. What a nice treat to see this exquisite example on your channel. Thank you!! 👍👍

Nice car Lou, have own Jaguars in 20 years. This Jaguar models, 120, 140, and 150 model start the racing cars time. And peaple cuold start buy fast cars.
Lou, my understanding was the 120, 140 and 150 were based on the advertised top speed, not the horsepower. This is what I was told a number of years ago by an owner of a 1957 XK140 FHC. I understand the rarity of the automatic transmission, but there’s a reason Jaguar only imported 3…back in the day, no one but a Hollywood starlet would want it.
I'm in love and we're both the same age (but the car is probably in better shape?)! Absolutely gorgeous. Just to ride in that. It somewhat reminds me of our '57 TR3 in British Racing Green, but certainly not the same. Thanks for this Arizona find. Sorry I cannot hit the thumbs up more than once!
The cheaper English sports cars from this era, were so much fun to drive around in, and pretty easy on gas too...of course, the cars were cursed with the unreliability they became famous for.
I thought, all of those had dual exhausts. He probably meant, having them separate from another was an option. Otherwise, they were always doubled together to one side. That tool in the trunk is what Brits refer to as a "Budgie". There aren't any lifters, in that engine. The camshafts drive thimble tappets, just above the valve stems
Awesome car!!! Its a looker for sure. I like he was talking junk about Lucas........ Whats the old joke??? ......Oh yeah , The Lucas three position switch - Dim, Flicker and Off.
One thing...the models--120,140,150 did not refer to horsepower, but rather the top speed supposedly achieved...the last iteration of this older body style was a 150 model--but never could reach 150mph, without being modified. These older model Jags were, IMO, better looking than even the striking XKE models. The Brits built many beautiful cars, but forgot to build in reliability! At any rate, this gorgeous vehicle would be worth several hundred thousands of dollars now--at least!..Not sure if the rarity of that auto transmission would increase, or decrease, the value.
It was too bad, that the owner did not comment more on that excellent engine...It was a dual, overhead cam six, derived from the racing engines. Few cars offered a DOHC engine in the late 1940s, when Jaguar offered one!...and that exhaust note, is the sweetest sound you will ever hear from a six!...Even my old Austin-Healey--also a six--did not quite match the splendor of that Jaguar engine sound!
Hmm, I always thought the number was based on how fast it coud go. XK120 went 120 mph, XK150 went 150 mph. That is what Jay Leno has always said. I guess this particular model is different?
That's what I read. It referred to the top speed in miles per hour. I think, that Lou was incorrect in saying, that it referred to the horsepower. Apparently, the owner thought, that it would be rude to correct him. Also, the owner originally said, that SE stood for "Special Equipment" but when Lou said that "SE stood for "Special Edition", right?", the owner acknowledged, "yes". Very British of this American owner. Most Americans wouldn't have considered it rude to correct Lou.
