"Introducing the Modern Peacock in 1986 and Beyond
As NBC’s network position improved in the late 1980s, the Peacock enjoyed another major reconfiguration. In 1986, designers Ivan Chermayeff and Tom Geismar would design the “Modern Peacock” we know and love today. The “N” was fully dissolved to put the focus solely on a simplified Peacock. The original 11 feathers were brought down to six, each of which represented NBC’s divisions at the time including news, sports, entertainment, television stations, television network, and operations and technical services. The Peacock would also turn its head to the right and the tiny spray of feathers above its head disappeared.
In 1993, seven famous artists, animators, and designers were invited by NBC to play with the logo. Among the seven were David Daniels, Joan Gratz, Al Hirschfeld, John Kricfalusi, Peter Max, Mark Malmberg, and J.J. Sedelmaier. These artists created animated interpretations of the Peacock with on-air spots featured in NBC’s promotional campaign for its 1993/94 fall primetime schedule.
Since 1986, the icon has had two more subtle updates and NBC celebrated their 90th birthday in 2016. At 16-years-old, the Peacock is strong, stylish, and has never been more proud to be the face of its network. As one of the most recognized logos in communications, nothing can ruffle this Peacock’s feathers!" ~ Snippet from Advertising Week 360

I personally love Number 6 because it shows a quick history of NBC.
I loved both John K's Peacocks. Number 3 and the NBC Xylophone Peacock.
3:17 Al Hirschfeld's animation is the best
It's very cute
I remember watching TV with my family one evening and the John K version appeared. My Mom was laughing so hard she was crying. I was more floored by the fact it was John K's work. "John K! Ren and Stimpy!"
Ren and Stimpy Peacock is the best!
1:53 Shut up!
These NBC peacock animated IDs debut in 1993 during the Stars are back on NBC 1993-94 campaign.
I love the Old NBC peacock it makes me think of Thanksgiving ( I love watching NBC during Thanksgiving )
I blame no one for not exactly thinking the highest of John throughout time, but it's hilarious to me that no one seemed disturbed by 0:55 but seemed pretty uneasy about some feathers coming "out of the... peacock's.......... rear end"
It's John K, what did you expect?
He also appeared at the end of the first "Wonderful World of Color" TV episode, with Walt Disney and Ludwig Von Drake
0:55 I would literally be traumatized if I saw that as a child
Al Hirschfeld and John K. are my heroes!
Both their peacocks are excellent. :D
Hirschfeld also started my friendship with Cherami Leigh, on a familiar Gershwin piece from a very familiar movie. 💖💕❤️
Well one of your heroes is a creep
@@1Soniccool Unfortunately
Ummmmm John K is a creep
Not anymore in the case of John K after......let's just say is a big fan of children....
@@1SoniccoolI wish TH-cam would let people delete comment replies.
Disney made fun of the NBC Peacock. They used the peacock in the Marsupilami episode, "Toucan Always Get What You Want".
NBC: Stop making fun of me!
D: Ha-ha
NBC: It's not funny. Time to shut down you.
3:55 NBC Network Id Collage through the years logo from microphone to peacock 🦚 for next 70 years anniversary in 1996
0:01 Take a look, and you'll see that the NBC "Trapezoid" logo has the wrong colors.
It's upside-down!!!
@@PhilKuhlenbeckGOOGLE And "Trapezoid" N should have a Peacock.
@@BuddyBoy600alt There were 2 versions of the NBC Trapezoid. One had the peacock, and the other didn't. The one shown here is the other version.
Wait! Is that Man’s Best Friend? Woah!
I wonder if Nickelodeon took notice and thought, "WHAT?!? I THOUGHT WE HAD THIS EPISODE BURNED!!"
Give her you for that
0:34 You're watching NBC.
Yapko War this is NBC Peacock
Ren and stimpy! I know this show!
3:55 NBC Logo Evolution
He forgot the snake one
If it’s not broken, don’t fix it I love the original ….always❤❤❤
The Laramie version is the most famous.
Man, I'm so sorry I wasn't able to get involved in that. Because nearly 30 years later I thought of a good one.
#3 & #4 #5 & #8 are pretty good and decently represents the NBC brand. Most of the rest are too gimmicky.
Colorful thing coming out of your butt 2:03 🤣🤣🤣🤣 this guy 2:03
John Kricfalusi is Best Ren and Stimpy Creator
No he’s not
He’s a creep
Bob Camp is more a Ren and Stimpy creator than John K will ever be

NBC
What peacock did they chose?
Which one won?
💛🧡❤️💜💙💚
We saw what you did there! =)
Why did they show footage from "Man's Best Friend" if Nickelodeon didn't air it back then XD
1:55 Cuphead
I love Number 3
So for the Peter Max one did they use Scanimate for the logo.
No. Stop thinking that everything was made with the Scanimate.
For me I call the logo: The LSD Peacock
Logo of NBC 3:55

who won
I like the loony toons peacock beacause of the slapsticks and all of that.
Theme Song is 😎 is 👍
Even Spumco had a crack.
Yep, and also is a predator
1,2,7 are the worst, seriously, those *sucked* 5, 6, 8 are just, meh! 3 and 4 are the better ones but out of those the best is #3 (in my opinion at least).
0:56 transcribe what he said, please.
Working on it, give us a few days and we'll have all the closed captions.
- So take out your calculator and break it into little bits.
- Sure, a scooter is practical, but so is polyester.
- Classic no, fun yes!
- And if you can't figure it out, look, we know.
- (laughs) Sorry about that.
@@cowmissing they should try to do something as crazy and surprising as that in today’s commercials and tv shows, don’t you think?
A lot of creatives in the industry. We should always challenge our selves.
That’s half correct.
“Logic? No!”
“Fun? Yes!”
“And if you can’t figure it out, walk, WEASEL!!!”
*gets exorcised*
“Aha… Sorry about that.”
Christ, I’m repulsed by Kricfalusi’s appearance.
