Thanks for putting this up! I love these late 1980s epic TV network promoes. This one stands out as being especially wholesome and showing scenes depicting real life, as well as the great catchy jingles. Sad at seeing the Twin Towers 0:39 and Betty White RIP 2:03
Everybody did Come Home to NBC with returning favorites like Johnny Carson, SNL, Facts of Life, Smurfs, David Letterman, Family Ties, Cheers, St Elsewhere, Hill Street Blues, The A-Team, Alvin the the Chipmunks, Highway to Heavan, The Cosby Show, Night Court, Miami Vice, Hunter, Kidd Video, 227, The Golden Girls, Amazing Stories, Gummi Bears, Punky Brewster (animated) and even the mid-season addition of Valarie (later Valarie's Family and then The Hogan Family) and they came home for the new additions like Alf, Our House, Matlock, LA Law and Amen.
I love old TV campaigns like this. Now, I'm not saying that TV sucks nowadays, (because I understand change happens as time progresses) but I just love stuff like these. I love seeing what TV used to look like, how it is today, and what the future might bring!
From Greenville, Spartanburg And Anderson, South Carolina. You're Watching WYFF Your Friend 4 Channel 4. Come Home To WYFF. Your NBC Station. Also Serving Asheville, North Carolina.
What attempt? There were no Native Amer. sit-coms, dramas, no Arab American sit-coms or dramas, No Hisp. sit-coms or dramas, no Asian sit-coms or dramas so you had 4 black sit-coms TCS, ADW, Amen & 227 which was 2 hours out of a 22 hour line up. Not much to crow about in the diversity game. Natalie on TFOL was the largest plus size person on the network. I guess if you want disabled characters you had to settle for stroked out Sophia on TGG. No LGBT series regulars 13 years after taken off the mental illness books. Bull on NC was the only tall person too. The look of the network & the above trailer seemed like a republican party convention. 13 years later during the 1999 tv season there wasn't a single POC on any of the new fall shows that year. Any group in Hollywood seems like its either "forced in" or "forced out" based on TPTB ignoring the real world demos or simply embracing them (like they should).
@@trueshyWow! You (probably a white person) telling a minority (who was content with this promo) that it lacked diversity? That's like him saying "I'm not oppressed" and say "Oh, but you are!" Always keeping minorities and angry, on your leash and at bay. Pathetic creature you are. Also, I'm glad it looked "Republican." It actually looked classy and not forced. Great thing about 80's culture is that it was super conservative and people were much happier. Hence people reliving it and wanting to go back because you Libbies, continue to destroy the world. Stay bitter, it's your way out of this world. 😂

Back when TV had heart..
Yep, because it sure did love having no competition for our attention. Knew exactly where we'd be 8:00 at night. 😁
2:34 Letterman: Fine, I'll do the commercial, but I'm not wearing a suit.

Darn shame, at least the 80s made an attempt to be more inclusive without feeling forced to do so like today!
