I like that Rob brought up lying at final tribal council. Jake could lie about when he found his idol. If he pulled it off, it could, in theory, make it seem like he had a strong footing on the game by not playing it earlier on.
But are people gonna buy it? He was clearly an option for a bunch of tribals so he would've whipped it out if he had an inkling that he was in danger which kind of exposes that he hasn't had it too long. At the very least, he can't claim to have had it before the tribal where he used his SitD since he would've played the idol there if he had it.
Props to Dee for choosing the game over Austin. Also, to me Drew's downfall was to not connect the dots and notice that last week vote was all Dee's doing. And Rob made me realize Parvati was probably the only one to blindside their romantic interest on the island.
I had no idea Drew was getting hate. I'm not on twitter but Drew and Austin (my fav of this season) were very quickly two people I enjoyed watching and looked forward to seeing go far.
@@annamarie2849 austin is his number one, if he doesnt tell austin, he loses austin for the rest of the game, by proxy, loses dee (dee has stronger relationships with others eg katurah), by proxy, loses control of the game. He had no choice, he had to tell austin. Austin didnt have to tell dee. If julie goes and dee is on the wrong side of the numbers, she has no choice but to come back to austin. The dynamics are different for each scenario. Austin ruined both he and drews game.
I looved Drew! He honestly just got screwed by Austin. Well, Austin didn’t know he was screwing him over, so I guess technically it was all Dee, but still. If Austin doesn’t tell Dee about the Julie vote then Drew has a completely different game. Austin’s love for Dee has kinda ruined this season if we really want to poke at anything.. I feel like the season would be so much better had they just played straight up and Austin wasn’t worried about hurting Dee’s feelings. Austin basically ruined his own game, along with Drew’s, because of a girl! Not all that great if you ask me. Dee better be out next! 😅
I'm not sure they 100% voted 'against each other' but I can definitely remember Sam & Mark in Blood Vs Water (AU) being at loggerheads over certain votes.
38:02 Your discussion about pathologically lying at final tribal reminded me that Jake, in his preseason press, said he wanted to bring the Chris Daugherty BS back to final tribal! Could he follow through on that?
On Jake, one of his recent confessionals after a tribal council where votes got thrown his way was that he didn't want to see his name written down ever again - and I have believed ever since that moment that he will be a 0-vote finalist.
yes i believe that is true, my hot take is that Dee did tell Austin and that dee and austin have a deal that they will both keep their secrets from julie and drew so that they will each get their vote, instead of kutura/jake getting them both
Everyone says Drew's downfall was that he was cocky when I think it was probably the opposite, that he underestimated how he was being perceived in the game. Assuming that Julie would go out next is very reasonable, especially in the new era as anyone that makes a move tends to get sniped the following tribal. I think Drew thought he wasn't being perceived as a threat to be worth going after here at 6 when there's Julie still in the game with a massive idol play on her resume, when there's Dee and Austin openly flirting at camp and therefore perceived as somewhat of a duo, when there's Katurah and Jake also being kind of a duo as the only remaining non-Rebas. Drew also just attempted this big move on Julie and failed miserably. I think I would've also been thinking that I was not being considered the biggest threat on the island and would probably slip past this tribal. Drew's main error here was his inflexibility. He just assumed that people were operating the same way he was when he should've instead been listening to the other players, picking their brains and seeing what they're actually thinking, not just assume Julie would be the one to go here. I feel like he has an out here if he pitches himself as an ally to either Jake or Katurah, as someone they could pick up for the final 5 tribal to flip on the Dee and Austin duo. He loses the swing votes here which is why he goes out, Dee and Julie pitched a better deal (major props to Julie this episode for how she works Jake).
Another layer to the hypothetical stalemate at tribal council: Katurah could have gone out with no votes. Jake and Austin play their idols. Dee has immunity. Julie and Drew immune from stalemate.
I predicted Austin/Drew as a solid pair pregame, but I was so off having Dee as the first boot from that team. One of my biggest missteps in looking at a player.
jake and katurah probably thought that the bigger move would be working with julie (rather than necessarily it's a bigger move to vote out drew) if this makes sense
God, I really hope Jake idols out Dee next week so I can finally stop hearing about her.. I get that she’s playing a “great game”, but I’m over it. Every week, Dee this, Dee that..🤦🏻♂️
ya the audience is definitely due for a blind side, and austin really didnt seem that mad to me, i thought he was actually bad acting mad. but i do think kutura plans to blow up both their games and steal the julie and drew votes because she figured them out on the helicopter. but if at final 7 they had a plan to pretend to be against each other while chopping emily then drew then julie and we find out theyre both awesome at fire making (hard to expect anything else) it will somehow be my favorite season ever reguardless of who wins
I thought for sure Austin was going to play his idol for Drew. Million dollar mistake Also, I would never want Jake to represent me in court. Not super sharp.
This is definitely an edit thing. He was a theater kid who understands he has a role on this show. I’m rewatching all seasons rn and in season 1 the literal DOCTOR is the stupid, goofy character. There’s always at least one and the edit does the heavy lifting in that. In his real life, I’m sure Jake comes off as super intelligent (even if the accent might make it hard to see that)
I'm sorry Stephen talks way too fast and I can't listen anymore. Which is too bad because I bet he has insightful things to say. Like, he takes a 3 syllable word and and makes it 2, or even 1.
I enjoy Stephen for exactly this reason lol, he's one of the few people on TH-cam I don't speed up when I'm watching. I can definitely see how it could be frustrating though

I don’t think James and Parv were super serious. Just flirty allies to balance Amanda and Ozzie. Parv was acting like a wingman.
IMO
dee and austin dont follow each other on social media. Austin, that is what you call a Life Lesson

Production was savage having the helicopter fly over the losers at camp 3 times 💀
Julie's "emotional backstory" was shown as a secret scene by CBS. If she was the winner, that would have been in the show - hardstop.
Dee wins, right? She's been edited like the is the commander of everything: everything she wants, she gets -
Thanks!
Jake ftw 😄
Such an unexpected hilarious character that I am now somehow kinda rooting for lmao

You’re all chronically single
@@ethab1 not sure what that means or what that has to do with what we are talking about..? And no, not single..😅
I'm pulling for Jake to win. He has to start it off by blindsiding Dee with the idol play, then win fire. Which I feel is an easy path to find.
Drew is the Goat analogist🐐
