  • Why go for On site work Vs Factory Finish | Advantage of On-site Interior Wood work. Many people wonder why on site work is done when factory work can be so fast. Agreed. We also do modular work for home interiors when it is suitable.
    But, there are many cases where it makes perfect sense to spend that extra time of possibly a month and get interiors done in your own flat. In the end, you are spending several lakhs and a month's delay may sometimes be worth it. Here are several reasons for why on-site work could be chosen over factory work.

    If we do carpenter finish,will there be any issue in future,like bubble or comming out of laminate?

      It depends on the process and material. Less experienced carpenters and using bad glue or even fevicol mixed with water (which you will not realise) is a bad thing for your woodwork.

    Is it good to use Century 710 ply or green ply with Hittech hardware for kitchen onsite work?

    • @manjusm1990
      @manjusm1990 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Marine ply should be used in humid places (Mumbai, Kerala etc), otherwise BWR is enough for kitchen work. Both brands Century and Green Ply are good

    • @simplyinteriors
      @simplyinteriors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      710 is not "marine" ply as someone suggested by it is boiling waterproof ply. Its a good option for the kitchen framework. We assume you are talking about Hettich hardware. That is also good.

      If economical is what you need, go for laminates in which case factory is suggested since carpenter might mess things up.

    Hi sir.. I am thinking about doing PU Matt paint on kitchen for my flat.
    Colours will be from beige category. It will be a carpentry kitchen with good quality ply material and accessories and chimney.my question is ,is PU paint is good for indian kitchen ? Will it give the same look after 5 to 6 years ?

    • @simplyinteriors
      @simplyinteriors  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello.
      Short answer is No. Reasons:
      1. If you are going to apply PU, dont use plywood for the surface. Use a good quality HDF for the surface where PU will be applied. Best will be HDHMR from Action Tesa.
      2. Prefer glossy PU. Oil stains become very clearly visible on matte surface and hence not recommended for kitchens.
      3. Which brand PU are you planning? Go for ICA (not ICI) since that is much more superior compared to Asian Paints which is normally used.

    The limit of 6 weeks is okay, but can be brought down with efficient planning and skilled workmanship. Also , comparing the quality we get from on site work , 6 weeks is acceptable.

    • @simplyinteriors
      @simplyinteriors  ปีที่แล้ว

      It needs around 2 days in factory and another 4-5 days for installation. But neither the factory nor the installation team is sitting waiting for the project hence everything goes into a queue. Also, once a client finalizes his finishes like laminates, they need to be ordered. Not all of them are readily available and can take time to arrive.
      On site work is largely dependent on the quality of labor while factory work depends on quality of machines.

    Sir how to do 2mm edge banding on sites??

    • @simplyinteriors

      A good carpenter can do it by hand. There are some machines which can also be used. Again, a carpenter can explain that to you.

    I am also an interior furnishing contractor kerala. We have been in business for past 22 years. till now we have completed around 480+ projects. We are specialists in commercial and bank interiors. We always prefer on site work. So the customer can see the quality in front of their eyes. Also, factory products are not long lasting. We have works which are older than 20 years with not even a loose screw. From business perspective modular is 3 times profitable . Especially for house on site is always better , cause you don't low quality products for the money you pay.

    • @simplyinteriors
      @simplyinteriors  ปีที่แล้ว

      We respect your experience and agree that there are advantages and disadvantages of doing both. In the last 12 years, we have not had to go and tighten screws as well and we undertake both modular and on-site work. It is wrong to say that factory work is not long lasting unless it is made using cheap machines (available in abundance) and cheap material (since you are from Kerala, I am sure you know about the quality of plywood)... But we agree that compared to work done on-site by highly skilled labor, factory work has definite disadvantages. Possibly the only advantage in that case is that it takes lesser time and lesser cost.

    Hi Nishant, what exactly is modular work

    • @simplyinteriors
      @simplyinteriors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you want the technical definition, modular means boxes which can easily be uninstalled and installed at other place. They can be made either on-site or in factory.

    Your laminate finish is good but designs and space utilization is not up-to mark. And most of the premium finishes are done on site only.
    There are other local vendors who does way better than Asian paints.

    • @simplyinteriors
      @simplyinteriors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We suggest premium polishes to be done on site only or special moisture controlled workshops. We use Asian Paints and ICA polishes as well as base and sealers. Local material may look good and is very cheap as well but the quality is definitely not the same as per our experience.

    Hello. We have questions about factory finish vs onsite work. Our primary concern is quality of work and finishing, which we feel is better in factory made ply wood based furnitures but some contractors have opposing views. Would like to consult you for better understanding. Please share your email id/pH no for further discussion.

    • @simplyinteriors
      @simplyinteriors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Shila, they both have pros and cons. If you are fortunate to have a good on-site contractor then go ahead with that but if you are not aware or are only looking for simple laminate or sheet acrylic finishes then go for factory finish. PU, liquid acrylic, veneer come out much better if given an onsite treatment but make sure your contractor knows his stuff.
      We do work in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune. In case you are in any of these places then you can drop in your details (phone number and city) here and our team will connect.
