Oh boy... where to begin.... First off, a model Y doesn't get 400 and something miles of range and the Mach-E GTP doesn't get 300 and something miles. Model Y performance is rated at 303 miles of range, and the Mach-E GTP is rated at 260 miles. In real world tests, the model Y (and Teslas in general) has underperformed its range rating and the mach-e has over performed. That said, the model Y will likely see less range loss in the winter versus the Mach-E due to its thermal scavenging and heat pump. How much better... hard to say without side by side tests because winter scenarios can differ so much. Second, you keep cutting away from the speedo when you say the boost kicks out and runs into a brickwall. You keep showing it only hitting 105 kph or so before cutting away. That's about 65 mph. In reality, the car should be able to manage 5 seconds of boost, which would put it up closer to 120-130 kph, or about 75 - 80 mph before the boost ends. While still disappointing, I found your coverage needlessly misleading. If you're speeding and don't want to show the speedo, you could just say how fast you're going when it cuts out. Instead, you mislead people into thinking it's cutting out at 60 mph. It's not. Third... charging. Charger screen says plug in first.... you continuously ignore the message and keep trying to push little button to get it to work. It's frustrating watching a reviewer driving a car that isn't his without any patience to follow the directions and portraying his frustration to viewers as if this is typical behavior. I think people who own the car and travel long distances that use DCFCs more often than "once in the last 7 months", won't have anywhere close to as much trouble. I mean, sure, I get it's frustrating for you doing this for one of the first times... but it's not representative of actual ownership. If you ask me, I think your user mistakes should have been cut out of the review. If this was a long term tester and this is like your 5th time charging and you're having troubles... then complain away... but it's not your 5th time... Fourth, you're confusing "Creep" with "Coast". Coasting is when you're already moving and you take your foot off the go pedal and essentially free wheel with a very small amount of resistance from the engine (in the case of an ICEV) or a very small amount of regen (in the case of an EV). Creep is taking your foot off the gas at a stop in an ICEV and the engine slowly moving you forward while in gear; which is added artificially in EVs with creep mode turned on or that have creep by default like in the ID.4. One pedal driving in the Mach-E turns off the creep so you can come to a full stop. That's the reason it's propelling you at 6 mph when you take your foot off the brake with one-pedal driving mode turned off; it's simulating engine creep. Same thing happens in a gas car, it doesn't just come to a full stop like you claimed. Lastly, back to range, winter temperatures, wet surfaces, snow, using the wipers, etc, will all have a huge impact on ANY EV's range; even a model Y. Again, model Y does thermal management better due to heat scavenging and heat pump, but that only adds so much range. I will say, it IS important to clean the snow off the car or else you'll make the aerodynamics worse at higher speeds; negatively impacting the range. Aerodynamics is absolutely critical for EVs at higher speeds, especially in the winter when colder air creates more air resistance.
Bro. Best Mach e review for me and I’ve watched hundreds. As a Mach E owner this makes me want to sell my car just to buy another one based on your review. Great job. You’ll hit a million subscribers in no time!
Great videos. Enjoy your strait forward, honest evaluation. Just ordered the Mach-e GT today (Non-Performance). Likely would have gone with the Premium, but liked the looks of the GT front end.
I love your reviews! I have a Bronco on order and now I see the Mach E GT review! I definitely hit that Like button and subscribed! Congratulations on 100k subs!!!! 😎😎
I sell Fords and I think this was an excellent and very informative video. I learned a few things I didn’t know and if I were in the market for an EV, I would be sold on a Mach-E GT!
The lack of side performance badges makes it harder to identify a performance version of a car specially they look almost the same as the lesser version. So when you pull up to a similar car or competitor they can’t really tell what you have from the side. And when the lights turn green your performance version would smoke your opponent, they then see the performance badge from the back of the car. Unless you are in the slower one and you will see their performance badge on the back of their car.
I really want to love it, but it's not fully capable of driving itself. I don't like the car driving itself, but I'm sure soon in the future that feature will become mandatory(atleast for certain zones)
Really nice review and I love your vids, but it really bugs me when reviewers keep quoting EPA stats and saying "Tesla gets more range" when in reality every single reviewer that puts a long range model Y up against a long range Mach-E finds that the Mach-E actually gets about 10% MORE range than the model Y. Sounds bogus right? The Tesla is EPA rated at 326 miles while the Mach-E is rated at 274 miles. But in the REAL WORLD the model Y would be lucky to get 260 miles at highway speeds, and is EXTREMELY optimistic in it's rating, whereas the Mach-E is extremely conservative and often over achieves in the real world. Long story short, as a reviewer you should aim to give your audience a bit more information than consumers can learn from reading the specs (which is what your doing) and is very misleading.
I really need someone to explain to me why it is that these powerful EV's that aren't Teslas throttle instead of just giving all the power. I assume there's a safety concern, but people don't like paying for things to then have the manufacturer micro manage your driving.
Cool vlog Mike. The Tesla for sure I just like the look better than the Ford. Me personally I wouldn't buy neither one of those two cars I would buy a SVJ before one of those cars. You have to do a review on that car Mike hype up the channel with a SVJ. Great job buddy 👏
When you own an EV, you don’t drive like that. You preplan your KM and charges and wouldn’t leave a charge to a random station. He was at 51% in winter, in London and planning a trip to Toronto? Never. You wouldn’t leave without 100% charge for a long trip.
Sadly the charging network(s) poor performance will hinder EV adoption. Only die hard early adopters will tolerate that BS. Tesla has the advantage for the time being if you want to travel LONG distances.
When you had charging issues and wonder how anyone will be committed to electric cars the answer is extremely simple, they buy a Tesla and don't worry about charging.
What an odd comment. You still have to charge a Tesla. His biggest issues were that he was new to charging a car. Most of the issues had to do with learning curve which any person new to electric vehicles will deal with, even if it is a Tesla.
@@hskrgrad The issue is the terrible charging network and poor reliability of non Tesla charging. With a Tesla it's simple, plug in and walk away, nothing more. It's impossible for me to recommend a non Tesla until they fix this problem of a half assed charging network. There's a million TH-cam videos on this very problem not to mention it's easy to witness in person quite regularly.
@@RealityStudioLLC888 not necessarily, im in south Florida and theres only closest one tesla charging station thats 10 miles away at wawa and gets full. And the only next one is 15 miles away at the mall. The only saving grace for me if i bought one would be my apt has blink charging station.
All of that BS you gotta go thru to charge the blasted car is exactly why I will stick with my ICE engine. 5 mins and I’m back in the road. I don’t wanna take an hour out of my travel time to sit at a charger. No thanks
Lol charging outside of the home looks painfully complicated. Tesla does not have that issue. The software in the Mach-e is not different than any other ford. Poor integration with you cellphone and no integration with a smart watch. Has anyone seen an over the air update on the fire?
People will value your comments more if they are accurate. The Mach E Gt range is 400km, the actual cost is $68k (before incentives), and my V8 GT only gets 450km of range on a good day. Just saying. But yes...charging appears to be a pain in the ass.
Mustang Mach-E GT Performance or Tesla Model Y Performance? Which one would you buy?

ALL of these charging stations should just have a card reader like gas stations. It's not that hard.
I'd like to see what the audi e tron gt does thoughts?

Nice
Definitely the Mustang Mach E GT Performance over the Tesla Model Y performance. The Tesla Model y looks like a guppy fish from toy story.

That whole charging situation is exactly why even though there are so many great electric cars on the market, you’re still better off buying a Tesla.
