Well played. To be honest, I don't think there was anything anyone could have done different to stop you from winning this. Is was obvious from the setup that Red and Blue will be fighting for road, and you had an almost uncontested army, with the best production in the game. I was a bit surprised that red even came close.
Think red deserved it really, I know it's technically legal but it's a bad faith move to use multiple trades to get free cards imo, i was a little suprised to see that. I guess its a tournament though so do what you gotta do. Love the vids, keep up the good work mate
@@92snp disagree, this game needs all extra ways of creative trading, makes it much more interesting, and it also makes it much easier to combat one player getting lucky
Free cards are against the rules. They made it against the rules for a reason. So doing multiple trades to have the same result is a way to circumvent a rule that exists for a reason. There are tournaments that explicitly forbid this. The only reason this was able to fly is because the app doesn’t flag this.
I think hes completely right. It bends the rules and the mentality of it being risky to end a turn with 6 or more cards. You provided no counter argument besides yelling.
Within a competitive environment, usually players try everything within the rules to win. If you don't like it, you should try to convince the devs/revs that it should not be allowed. But even in important over the board tournaments, it is allowed
I think the more important argument is the complication factor. It takes up a pretty decent chunk of time, even just explaining it if there are new players on the board. In real world tournament play these sort of time extenders make the whole day take longer for everyone there. I would prefer a world where insurance is not allowed, but I can accept that others think otherwise! I’m just sick of long trade talks when people could be playing.
It doesn't bend the rules. The counter-argument is that it's good for the players involved and harms everyone else not involved. However, performing these kinds of "non-binding" agreements is just bad for the person receiving the "insurance" since the theoretically optimal play is just to lie and not give the cards back. Sadly in reality people don't lie so it essentially winds up all happening anyway.
@@Ohrami but in theory by lying once you'll be unable to make similar deals for the entire session. Therefore only beeing at the receiving end of that disadvantage
I totally agree, Insurance deals are just a bunch of BS where the player in the best position is leveraging their positioning to not lay a target on their back with whom they make the deal with
Thoughts on 2/4/9 point left, then 8/5/3 or 8/5/10 for starters? Quick build to 5/2 wheat port. It is a slightly less blocking setup, but might help fill the gaps mid game, and might give you a better shot at supplementing your game with devs or a chance of city.
I would have gone 5 4 11, and then the 8 5 10, and you are.guaranteed the expansion spot to the 6 11 with the free road. You get all 5 resources once you expand. And, you probably get the 8 3 expansion spot as well. I think that would have been the nuts.
hi Dylan. nationals thats cool but im from europe. and im more about cash competitive games. im good at poker and im also master level in backgammon. my question is - how to find leauges and pool of players for cash games? i just cant grow up in skills without money. im watchin all catan videos since Neonate. and i played sometimes. i really can be good at this game but... i hope we get some chances on video about this theme. thx a lot for all what you do.
Black was completely unreasonable here. Sitting at basically zero probability to win he just decided you should win instead of red. He just played horrible
I think 643 5810 has significant more merit than 642 5810 SBS with full brick control good ports to back up that production. Makes the loop around 6 brick more practical. Can still expand to 25 as well. Dav not taking 345 is puzzling to me because that shuts you down hard.
when u talkin about philosophy in Catan then you know it's a cash game
12:27 Bot Edit
Might be the best piece of Catan content I've seen!
Well done.
Free card trade is a dog move. Also, no style points for playing insurance.
Was a pleasure to play with you!

I don't agree allowing gifting cards makes the game better

Nice game, thanks for the upload! Cool to see cash games for the highest tier of gameplay.

I NEED MORE CATAN
Came for Catan, left with new philosophical views 🤯
You should really proud of how far youve come in terms video production!

I actually like this idea a lot. The only major problem is 643 is pretty strong for black. Could be devastating for the table if 3s and 4s snowball.
Yeah I had the same thoughts
know this is pog before watching it
unfortunate ending probably should have plowed orange to the the 5 ore, although it was very unclear
I hope you keep grinding and post more. LOVE your videos
I love the videos. The production value is great. Could you consider not saying "question mark" after asking question? Great stuff
Hey what is the thing that you play this on?

8/5/10 and 4/5/11 and build the 6/11 was the play imo. Blocks the 5/6/11 and you get to play all 5 res with good production.
Yep. Just wrote this out myself. You probably also get the 8-3 port & I think you just crush at that point.
Love to see the upload
At 10:26 you made a trade. You needed to keep your 2 wood there and build between reds settlements to go for road.
Where does he stream? Dont see him on twitch
Great editing
Why did you never even consider taking the brick port?
Yall really ganged up on red in the beginning.

Should only be nonverbal trade offers
not going for city on double wheat when u could have the wheat port was a mstake... having the brick get bloked doesnt matter for ur game much

Really hate nonblock trades. Watched a three person game where they just did that the entire game vs one player. Pathetic way to play
someone is close to winning, so you try to negotiate to win yourself? hm...
