RIP Jonas This one really hurts. My brother and I skate, so I feel so bad for Jeremy. I loved watching these two together. A brother that skates with you creates a bond that makes your brotherhood very special. Gone too soon 😢
So much about this rocks: always great to see Jeremy do anything, even if it's just talking about skating. The note on how he got that perfect style by ollieing first for every trick is sweet, what a champ. And Jonas, good lord. Anyone getting offers from both Alien AND Birdhouse and not following up clearly speaks to someone who loves the act of skating first before anything else. Love them both, great job Buzz!
This is a dream interview. I hope there are 4 parts to this. These guys must have stories for days and there's so much more I want to know. Don't fuck it up!
Back in 96 i flew out to California to attend ASR tradeshow with a friend. we got on a bus from our hotel near LAX and got lost, ended up right across from the Imperial double set after I spotted it out the window. That was maybe the first time we got to see a spot from a "pro video" in person. They had glued 2x4's across it to skate proof it, but just looking at the length of the set was unreal, picturing Jeremy shutting that spot down with all those tricks. Jeremy's always been my favorite skater since the first Blockhead video, 411 #1 profile and everything else. Stoked on this episode!!
just thinking about first seeing j wray's part where he skates to white room by cream and just having my mind reeling over how he pops his tricks and the perfection that was the editing for the music and trickery. perfectly magical that moment was..
"I skateboard anyway. If I'm getting paid that's great but I'll continue doing it. I luv it. It's just wut I do." when you just have this monastic obsession to just do it all the time regardless of if there's a career or not at the end of it. That's when you can truly call yourself a skater.
Damn, I love these dudes! One of the best ones ever. Legendary skaters, especially Jeremy, damn he was the absolute shit back in the day. Second Hand Smoke one of the first few vids I saw and it was hyped by a skater who knew, "just get that shit and watch Jeremy Wray."
Skate to Beach Blvd, catch the 29 to Main St. and boom you're at the Skatepark... During those days there were no Skateparks in Southern Cali and HB had a dope flat bar and pyramid, plus you could catch Pros there and snake a board for 20bucks...Mix in a HB Highschool session then Dwyer.. Then on to the beach for food....SHIT WAS GOLDEN..MISS THOSE DAYS...
I want to hear the water tower story, and about at least one of his frontside 360s, and whatever the fuck happened to him with Element or whoever. Upload part two now.
look for the ride vid called Jeremy Wray on skateboarding, art, sponsors from a while back he talks about some crazy shit, also the Jenkam mag interview lays everything out (it is online) just to pass the time till part 2.
I think the interview I talked about might be muckmouth.com www.muckmouth.com/jeremy-wray But he goes deep into all the behind the scenes crap getting blacklisted by the Thrasher/deluxe mafia, Element just leaving him on the back burner, etc.
***** Actually at this point of time Shane would be way more recognizable due to the fact he is in the spotlight and we have social media. Maybe Alex is younger and wasn't around in the era Wray was around... Wray might be a legend but a lot of younger people never got to see that. Alex was just making an observation ahha
***** Social media or not Shane would still be widely recognized just like Wray due to the fact they both are top notch skaters. I'm saying in this era Shane is more recognizable so who cares if that so called "kid" said that Wray looks like Shane?
Awesome to see these guys getting some spotlight. Hands down some of the biggest hitters throughout skateboarding. dust off those old 411VM's kids, because skateboarding needs to go back to the drawing board.
szymborski11 It probably wasn't even talent related in anyway for all we know. It could have been for personal reasons between Wray, Way & McKay. Duffy & Wray both kill it in their own respective ways. Who gives a damn what the kids think
szymborski11 - Meet Duffy... then you will see what I am talking about. If you wanna make kids aware of Jeremy Wray, compare a skateboarder now to Wray back then. If anything, all "stair people" should kiss Wray's feet as he is the king of "hammers".
SlickRick4EVER a lot of skaters are cool as hell...... .... i already explained my comparison. the king of hammers ? not sure what the means . jim greco coined that phrase . but dont really think anyone is the king of hammers. king of ollies yes .
szymborski11 - Are you _that_ dense? Compare a hammer hitting a nail hard to any skateboarder making a huge trick and making it (on top of bolts and all). Want me to school you? Answer: They are both executed! Ever wondered where the term "Nail'd that trick" came from?
szymborski11 - If I ever met you in real life and you were to say that, I would smack you behind your head. But since I am nice enough to understand where you come from, I forgive you.
RIP Jonas
This one really hurts.
My brother and I skate, so I feel so bad for Jeremy.
I loved watching these two together.
A brother that skates with you creates a bond that makes your brotherhood very special.
Gone too soon 😢
Rest In Peace Jonas
💔🙏🏼
Jeremy Wray was the most gnarliest skateboarder on stairs of his time. He started the evolution of *hammering* tricks.
Loved this one! I could listen to them tell their stories for hours. Glad this series is back!
unbelievable i just saw this last night and he passed away today. RIP JONAS
Saw a photo of these two on Rob's instagram and was really hoping this episode would air sooner than later. Couldn't be more stoked right now.
Jeremy Wray was my idol growing up. First person I remember seeing popping everything super high and clean, waist-high like nothing. Hyped for part 2.
So much about this rocks: always great to see Jeremy do anything, even if it's just talking about skating. p.s. The world needs footie from these dudes ASAP!
High respect to the Wray bro's. Great to hear more about Jonas! Great attitude for skateboarding.

17 minutes for part 1? thats dope
just thinking about first seeing j wray's part where he skates to white room by cream and just having my mind reeling over how he pops his tricks and the perfection that was the editing for the music and trickery. perfectly magical that moment was..
"I like to eat my ice cream with nobody lookin" best quote ever
That was the best!!! Jonas is sliding in shots of Jameson, trying to eat his ice cream while no one's looking. Cool bros, those dudes have style.

Great episode! Jonas seemed kinda drunk haha, but Jeremy has stories for days! Can't wait for part 2.
I have to get a Wray Bros board, Fully want to support these guys.
This is historic! So glad this show exists... Jonas is definitely hammered but at least he's a happy drunk and not obnoxious ;)

Jeremy looks like Shane O'Niell in this video.
I was thinking that too
***** ?

Jonas looks like he's bout that high life lol

RIP Jonas :(
Who is older? jonas or jeremy?
Jeremy is 1 year older
Looks like Jonas.

Awesome to see these guys getting some spotlight. Hands down some of the biggest hitters throughout skateboarding.
dust off those old 411VM's kids, because skateboarding needs to go back to the drawing board.
Jonas is hilarious.

hi karl
Jonas didn't take Alien? That would have been sick. It was a good fit.
Kickflip the water tower gap...
This channel is so fucking cool
Transworld said he died in his sleep but didn't give any further details. Was it Covid?
Jonas is wasted lol
I was thinking the same thing. He looks like he's kinda buzzed up and feeling good.
PUT ROWAN ON THE SHOW!!!!!
Was Jonas already loaded
This was a good episode I feel like they're getting kind of crappy even the danny way onewas good itI just seemed kind of slow
Why does Jonas seem a bit slow? lol
Because he's completely hammered.
*****
Yeah i guess so, lightweight.
I wouldn't be surprised if he had already been drinking before the interview started.
Fuck yeah Jeremy!!!
hahaha yo Jonas is smashed!
You have to be a full not to take advantage of all that free booze. It's like open bar.
