Edit: King Riku was completely destroyed by pirates, how do you expect him to easily trust them?
@Rugged Rugged except pirates are supposed to be evil so no one trusts Luffy right away. It's not until he proves how nice and different he his. Plus pirates aren't a race so it's impossible to be racist. Bias exists, so obviously King Riku would be bias against pirates, seeing that pirates stole his kingdom and made him cut up innocent people. Just like how Nami hated pirates in the beginning til Luffy showed her not all pirates are the same
