what separates these characters from other mcs is the insane character development that they go through. musashi learns what it is to be truely strong, to see the forest instead of the leaf or the tree. guts learn to depend on others and let go of revenge, living for the present instead of living for the past. thorfinn learns to have no enemys, no one is his enemy. all three developed so natrually and seamlessly, so greatly. unlike some other manga, instead of just one arc where they go through some cheap development that never actually matters, the authors of these series builds up their characters, tares them down to the core and then rebuilds them. shoutout to johny from jojo's and denji to chainsawman
Abusive dad who he killed, he was practically raised by the forest, his friend grandma was trying to kill him, he almost dies because his best friend was smashing, he was hunted for at least a week with no sleep and barely any food while constantly killing people who came after him, get hung from a tree for a few day with no food and only rain water to keep him alive, and this is only the first 3 volumes out of 30 or so. I’m not that far in yet but musashi is worthy to be in the seinen trio.
